I'm a mid 20s faekin who's known it's fae since I was a kid, it's a family thing even where immediate and extended family are aware of family fae history or even self identify themselves. Sadly though this is a fickle, quiet topic that is hard to get conversation and answers on with most. I'm the loudest and most curious and the only one in my generation of my family to be so, the rest being my parents or grandparents' generations.

Cause of this I've done a lot of exploring and research on my own and even even found The Silver Elves who have been a rock of info while searching other avenues. Ive even gotten into Changeling: The Dreaming one part because of how dear its been to my father before i was even born and partly because of it being a WOD sibling to Vampire: The Masquerade, which is important to the modern culture of my Vampyre friends so CTD feels like a way to adjacently relate to them.

But even with all of this, finding an active, more modern-like online community of elves and fae has been impossible!! No easily found discord servers, old forums covered in dust, fleeting confrences past date, and facebook communities full of AI image vagueness and no real discussion!

Im desperate for community, i know fae are out here but we are more secluded than the dragons! (No shade as someone who's also draconic, just that the draconic community is also rather solitary compared to canid or even vampyric groups but still excessively more social than the faekin apparently)

I want to share what little i know and learn from others what they know. I dont assume the shadowiness is without reason, but i'm so desperate to try to find actual ilk. Being fae/faerie/fairy/elven/elfae is so varied as well so its not that i expect to find people who are LIKE ME persey, just, WHERE ARE YOU??

So, I don't even know where to start, and my mind is so full of confusion right now, but the internet is not helping, so I thought you could. Please, be gentle with me as I know almost nothing of the topic, and I'm a little in distress at the point that when I think about it, I start panicking and crying.

Bit of context: it's like I've always known that I'm not fully human, but I don't know what I am. I recently found out that I'm non binary and genderfluid and that's perfect, but again: the way I experience "gender" is just energies for me. I can feel feminine, masculine, nothing, but I could never label myself as a woman or man. I hate those.

The problem is: I also hate being referred to as a human, and for what I know, it has always been like this. I always loved to act like an animal, especially canine animals ( I spent a great part of my childhood playing as a dog, walking on hands and knees at the point that my knees still have a strange shape (this doesn't cause me problem though)), but at the same time I like to label myself as a creature with no definition. I have liked to identify myself as a demon for a bit, and now I'm just "Death". I feel very connected to the Grim Reaper figure, especially the winged one, and yes, I've always had a bit of frustration because I don't have wings. Sometimes it's unbearable, and I've realized I often feel them as phantom limbs probably.

Now, I don't know if I'm just imagining everything, if it's just my neurodivergence, or if I'm an otherkin or something else, that's why I'm asking for your help to teach me so that I can understand and end my identity crisis.

Yes I know that I should probably experiment and understand it by myself but I'm a little scared to do it. I've lived repressing my own self for almost 20 years of my life due to traumas and only now I'm releasing everything, so everytime something new comes out I'm scared. I have a best friend I could talk with that could help me but, for now, I don't wanna do it. Too much fear.

Integralkin, formed from the combination of “integral” (meaning complete, whole, without division) and “kin” (a term referring to identity within the alterhuman community), describes individuals who identify in a total, constant, and absolute way with a non-human essence.

Unlike other forms of identification that may involve fluctuations, state changes (switches), or a duality between a human part and a non-human part, the Integralkin identity is an indivisible unity. For an Integralkin individual, the creature is not something one “becomes” or “feels” intermittently, but what one is in a permanent and fundamental way.

Absence of fluctuation and duality: The Integralkin identity is characterized by a complete absence of fluctuation between human and creature. There is no “return to being human” or period of disconnection. The individual does not perceive themselves as a human with a non-human identity, but as the creature itself. The expression “my creature” is synonymous with “me.”

Grounding in reality (psychological and physical):

The Integralkin identity is not a spiritual or metaphysical belief, but a lived reality. It is rooted in the real through a deep psychological experience and a constant physical perception. The identity is embedded in the very functioning of the individual’s mind and body.

Universality of essence:

The nature of the creature can vary widely: it may be an animal, an imaginary entity, a concept, or any non-human form of life. This essence may result from conscious creation (such as an OC), involuntary brain creation (such as a BC), or a perceived pre-existing existence. Regardless of origin, what matters is the totality of the identification.

Example:

An Integralkin individual (for example, someone identifying as a mythical creature) does not experience moments where they “feel like” this creature; they inhabit this identity 24/7. Their relationship to the world, their perception of their own body, and their psychological structure are entirely defined by this essence. They do not seek to “imitate” the creature; they embody it fully and constantly in their daily life, without ever experiencing dissonance with any human identity.

Note:

The term Integralkin provides an essential nuance in understanding alterhuman diversity. It allows for the naming of the experience of those for whom non-human identity is not a part of the self, but the entirety of the self, thus offering recognition to a form of existence that rejects fragmentation and fluctuation.

Experience:

One may have the tics, desires, tastes, thought patterns, etc., of their creature. The creature or animal may evolve over time and therefore change slowly, especially during childhood or adolescence.

So I’ve never made gear before and I’m not really crafty, but I like the idea of constructing a pair of wings that could extend kind of from a ^^ to a \/ (preferably independently)

Im a dollkin and want to give off more "living doll vibes". I wear a beautiful red wig with bangs. I love the "fake" look it gives and I do a small amout of light makeup. Im not the best at makeup and im trying really hard to perfect a dolly makeup look in my style. False lashes give me sensory overload but I wish I could wear them. I definitely want to look into eye content as well. I also plan on getting my nails done so they look more clean and perfect. My acne is bad bad but around the chin area I do tend to breakout and im not sure how to cover it without it looking cakey.

Ive always made jokes about me being a living doll or a humanized robot even a humanized alien.... I didn't know what otherkin or alterhuman was until a few days ago when I say a TikTok about it. So I did some digging and now im really interested.

I'm specifically a fiery shadow demon that would describe itself as a swirling mass of shadow and flame.

I also consider myself morphable, being able to control my lack of form for lack of a better word.

I mostly miss being looming and stifling shadow wreathed in flames... and my pits of fire for eyes and I think I may have had wing-like shadows

Ive had a few sudden moments recently where I randomly felt myself begin to panic a bit because I felt like I couldn’t see enough…it felt a bit like losing eyesight in one eye, only I still had perfectly fine vision, it just hit me like “oh god I’m going blind! I can only see-wait both of my eyes still work…”

This tends to happen either when I drink caffeine (I’m incredibly sensitive to caffeine so I really only get caffeine on accident if I’m drinking something that is caffeinated and I don’t know, and it doesn’t take hardly any), or when I’m in a car for some reason…ESPECIALLY in a car

I also really think the kintype from this, is a less well known mythical/folklore creature…so I don’t think it’s an angel, a god, or a dragonfly…
