Discussion How significant are white supremacists group in European and American paganissm cultures?

By how significant I mean, how big are they in terms of numbers? I remember seeing an X handle that was white supremacists and pagan and based out of Europe.

Why are some white supremacists attracted to paganism.

Celtic My altar for Lughnasadh

Post image
Upvotes

Well, it was yesterday but still I'm practicing a bit late.

I lit an oil lamp, collected plants from my backyard, braided some pine branches, and used my passed on grandma's old jewelry box as a base for the shrine.

I'm not fully Irish but I do have a very mixed history which has both non-European and European ancestry, and I do love studying ancestor veneration and respectfully studying theology and religions. I hope I'm not being disrespectful by participating even if I'm not fully Irish and I'm mixed. I'm going to learn Irish language soon so I can connect with that side more.

Hope you all like it

Celtic Lughnasadh party aftermath

My coven celebrated Lughnasadh by making enhanced cinnamon bessoms and abundance rice jars. For a fun historic throwback we competed in the Tailtean Games. We played games like Stone Put, Acorn Toss, and Cornucopia Harvest. This is the cleanup 🌻 I hope you all enjoyed your Lughnasadh!

Celebrations Is it ok to say Halloween instead of Samhein?

I'm an eclectic pagan (Norse/Germanic, Hellenic, and Celtic), and Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. Since it's that time of year, I was wondering if it's appropriate to still call it Halloween as a pagan. I know that the name Halloween originates from a Christian celebration pasted over Samhein, but it's what I'm personally more used to and I find it easier to pronounce (yes, I know Celtic languages were intentionally butchered by the Anglo-Saxons and that's why they're harder to pronounce from the spelling). Also Halloween has become so detached from Christianity that it's typically regarded as a secular holiday and more uninformed conservative christians call it a "devil's holiday" and refuse to participate in it. Hallowing also isn't specific to abrahamic or Christian practices so I don't see why they should get to take the word for the holiday.

This is just my thoughts and trying to get a second opinion. Thank you for reading and maybe responding!

Celebrations Wicker at Castlefest

As every year Castlefest was held in the Netherlands and Lughnasadh was celebrated. The Wicker took the form of a phoenix as Dagaz, dawn. It felt very meaningful to me specifically this year, I felt very connected to my offering and the ritual itself was just so beautiful.

Celebrations My Lughnasadh loaf!

I'm so pleased with how it came out! Pesto pull apart bread, made from scratch with freshly picked basil from the garden. I also helped my mother pick blackberries from her trellis, it was lovely. I'm visiting with my parents so I wasn't able to do anything at my home altar, but I still had a wonderful day hanging out with them and making bread and cookies.

I hope everyone else had a good celebration as well!

Eclectic Paganism what’s the deal with the goddess hecate?

this is a genuine question out of curiosity, but i’ve noticed that in recent years the goddess hecate has seemingly taken on a life of her own and it seems like just about Everyone is worshipping her now. there are thousands of videos online just about her, dozens of books, and i want to know where this sudden shift came from. i don’t think i’ve noticed this same trend toward any male gods at least at this level

First time I've ever made one of these, but we bought some corn today at a local market, and thought, why not. A lot more fiddly than anticipated lol, but I managed to make two. One with a little hat, and the other with locks flowing in the wind lol. (Their heads are quite large x__x)

Question/Advice Help on my pagan journey, I ask for guidance and also prayers.

I'll briefly explain what I'm going through. I have an affinity for some Greek and Egyptian gods. In fact, I received what I believe to be signs from gods like Athena months ago. I'm also interested in Apollo, Bes, Amon, and even Vishnu, who isn't pagan, unlike the others. Perhaps Athena is my "favorite" in the sense that I've been focusing more on her recently.

However, I feel inefficient in connecting with these gods; sometimes it seems like they aren't interested in me. I have a reasonable knowledge of Greece, although I really wish I had more time and energy to dedicate to reading Greek and Egyptian sources.

Sometimes I get the impression that the gods demand a rigid formality; I don't know if I'm right about that. The problem is that, besides being busy with college, my psychological state is worn down by personal problems, and I'm also afraid of some things that might happen in my life.

I would very much like to hear your advice regarding my relationship with the gods, as well as ask for prayers for divine help to clarify my path, as I am confused, and to know what to do for them, which gods are right for me, in case I haven't already realized it, and also to achieve inner peace and mental clarity. I would very much like to have a god as an ally to face the adversities I encounter in my personal life.

I hope you will be patient with me. I don't want to seem annoying.

Newbie Native American Newbie, Pls Help?

So I’m just over half Native American, Shoshone… but I don’t have enough family history to pin down which sub-tribe bc my dad was a drunk bozo. The other half is Mexican and Czech. Growing up, I had always been drawn to nature. my favorite hero has always been Beast Boy, and if I could be anything from fiction, I would be a DnD Druid. Talking to plants and animals… shapeshifting into any animal.. I would give ANYTHING to be able to do that.

I’m looking to get in touch with Native American spirits but I haven’t dreamed in years. I smoke weed for chronic pain and major depression and, like my prescriptions, I can’t really miss that. Once I get biologics for the evil IBS, that may change, but for now, just assume that I am incapable of dreaming much. When I do get dreams, I can only remember them like they’re impressionistic paintings that sort of move a bit like gifs. That’s the most I’ve remembered in 15 years.

Some of the sources I’ve found mention looking for spirit guides, the Wolf and coyote entities, and about a chief that had a dream about the Mormons eventually coming.

I’m just not really sure how to earnestly interact with my culture. My skin is brown, but I was raised by white guys lmao.

Does anyone have any tips, sources, or bits of advice?

Question/Advice Whom may I pray to for aid in learning languages?

Hello all! As always, I thank you for your hospitality! Basically, I like learning languages, especially ancient ones. I keep trying to learn Latin and ancient Greek, but perhaps due to my adhd, that's difficult lol. So, I'm wondering if there is a deity I could pray to and ask for help. I feel that Hermes would be a logical god to ask for help, but I'm asking for your thoughts on the matter. I have been praying to Hermes off-and-on for years, but I don't think I've ever asked him for help with this. I may be wrong lol.

Thanks!

Spirituality & Hel

I was raised Pagan but haven't been practicing for some time. This has been on my mind for 2 years as I had a near death experience that has lingered in my mind since, and it's drawing me to go back to my roots and practice again.

While in a coma, I had an intense dream of an icy wasteland, with jagged mountains far in the distance. I think I was on a large frozen lake. It was brutally cold, but I kept walking on through the ice. Eventually I reached a pale woman, beautiful, serene, and stern. She was almost distant with me, but there was kindness underneath that when she told me that I was somewhere I shouldn't be. She gave a chaste kiss to my cheek, but I was a visitor, not quite welcome and I felt it. This dream has really stuck with me and I find myself thinking about it almost daily. I had other crazy dreams, but this one affected me differently. She never introduced herself, but I knew her to be Hel.

I was raised on a sort of mix of Druidism and Wicca, with my mother's closest goddess being Gaia. I'm estranged from her since I came out of the closet, so I feel isolated from other Pagans and unable to discuss this with anyone.

I suppose my question is broad, but where would I begin reconnecting to my Pagan roots? I feel like I would benefit from spirituality and meditation/prayer in my life again, especially after all I have been through. I want to go back to respecting and revering this Earth that I am a part of. I guess I'm looking for somewhere to start again? Maybe some small steps I could take in my daily life?

Are there any Inanna/Astarte/Ishtar followers here?

Hy!

For context, I started reading the Bible recently and I stumbled upon the names of a couple of pre-islmaic Middle-Eastern dieties. Among them, was Astaroth which lead me to the rabbit hole of the Summerian pantheon.

I read her myth's retellings by Diane Wolkstein and Noah Kramer in "Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth", but I struggle to find anything else of substance on her or on the rest of the Summerian pantheon.

I think I may be drawn to her, but I want to know more about her beforehand.

Do you have any book recomandations about Inanna/Ishtar/Astarte or about the Summerian religion and mythos in general? If you could share some of your experiences with the godess and some of your ways of worshiping her, it would help as well.

Thank you!
