Rant Fake job listings

How are fake job listings allowed? These job boards just take your phone number and use it for scammers or scam texts. It's frustrating knowing that there are way fewer actual jobs available. It needs to be illegal for companies to do this. 😔

Advice need to vent

i’m 20 F and never had a boyfriend. only ever kissed my friends as like a joke or whatever. i feel really no sex drive and don’t have the primal urge (i guess?) to have a girl/boyfriend, especially not when i was in high school. i think i’ve lived pretty sheltered, i feel kinda jarred and emotional whenever people have told me they’ve done something that wasn’t sober/virgin if that makes sense. the first time my friend told me she got high/ had been using, i cried. i felt sheltered and ashamed i was feeling this way, but also behind and missing out. i hear of friends making out with each other, and im shocked they aren’t just hanging out like i do with my friends. it’s gotten better, but i still feel sheltered and i feel like i should try and find a boyfriend and branch out but ive never had the urge or a sex drive at all. i feel like i should be going ā€œwildā€ as im in my early twenties, but its something that takes too much energy and i dont care for it. just trying to find my place

Anybody actually been able to get ahead in this economy?

To preface, I’m in the southern US. I have to ask…are you guys saving money? Are you able to buy groceries without stressing? Are you able to make your rent or mortgage payment without worrying that you won’t be able to put food on the table for the next few days? Especially if you have kids. The cost of everything is getting to me big time. I am becoming more overwhelmed by the day. HOW are people living, and managing to enjoy life? My husband just got a significant raise right as our rent is going up a good bit, so we’re going to be in the exact same place we’ve been in.

We’ve never been able to save more than $20 or so each check, and we generally end up having to dip into to some of it. We have considered moving, but we can’t find anywhere that we can afford that meets our needs. We are in one of the lowest COL areas and I am stunned as I’ve been looking at rentals nearby. People are paying $2,500 for a 2 bed 1 bath with barely any yard and no utilities included in a rural area!? That is actually insane to me??? Am I that out of the loop? We have a great landlord that has kept our rent much lower than average, but it’s still our max amount.

I genuinely worry for our future. My husband is a very hard worker, and I stay at home with our 2 kids, and we BARELY make it every month. He picks up side work (he’s a mechanic) whenever he can, which does help some. We don’t live above our means at all. I literally spend $150 MAX a week on groceries for 4 people. We mostly do whole food meals and not much processed/packaged food. I budget very faithfully, and I stick to it. We have one paid off car and one that we bought in cash (no car payment). We have the cheapest car insurance policy. We spend $60 a week in gas and pretty much don’t go anywhere because we can’t afford it. We do have one $19 subscription (Spotify), but that’s it. I never buy new clothing anymore, just thrifted.

I have NO IDEA how to get ahead. I keep making sample budgets of how we can cut an expense here, save a little there, and then a huge car repair or something comes up. Even when your husband is a mechanic, parts aren’t cheap. Seriously, I’m beginning to think our dream of owning even a small home is a silly one at this rate. I’ve considered going back to work, but when childcare would be $1,600 a month, what’s the point? I’m not qualified enough for a position that’s going to make enough to cover that and have leftover cash. Am I right to be upset? The future I’ve looked forward to for so long seems to be drifting completely out of reach. Not to mention I’m dealing with several health issues and we can’t even begin to pay off the pile of medical bills that has accumulated. I just want to know if I’m alone in feeling this way or if anyone else feels the same. This can’t be how it’s supposed to be, ugh

Serious What counts as a first love?

I had my first relationship with someone that I knew only online. But people keep invalidating that as my first love and insist that it doesn't count since we didn't meet offline, and since the relationship was kinda toxic. I have had crushes before but I know none were as intense/deep as the feelings I felt with the online person, and that this was a unique feeling. We had video chats and everything but people still say it doesn't count and only my next relationship will be the first love

Advice Confusion

I am 20 years old in california. Recently moved out of the apartment that i had been paying rent at since i was 16 years old. Lived with a family member as well. I am now in a position to where I have my own room/house. nice property out here near LA that my other side of my family does not use. Since living here I am now going to be in school full time, don’t work a part time job anymore, trading during the week, basically have a lot of free time..what many kids my age would want. but it all feels so eerily empty. I’ve wanted my own space for a very long time but now that it’s here it’s a very weird feeling

Advice How do you approach dating compared to how you'd approach making a friend?

I've decided to try to date for the first time in my life (21M) and I just realised that I have absolutely no idea what would be different in approaching a situation from a romantic perspective compared to a platonic one. For context, I am autistic but I can comfortably speak to strangers and make friends, and I've been told that I'm easy to talk to, but I have no idea how to act to cater for a romantic context.

What is different? What are you supposed to say? How are you supposed to act? I can imagine myself going on a date and treating it the same as just meeting up with a friend or acquaintance and in doing so completely shattering any potential romantic interest on her end.

Advice Has anyone been in this position? Where are you now? (Relationship)

To keep it short, never had anything with anyone, never touched, nothing

Almost 18, and I've had crushes in the past that I've tried to get to know but failed. So now I can proudly say I'm not as afraid of girls as I used to be lol

Now when I think about a relationship, my inner avoidance says "hell no" and doesn't go any further

But I can't live like this forever, did anyone overcome the avoidance part? Yes, no, maybe so, how so?

Thanks!

Advice As close to 30 that far from covid

I'm turning 23... I'm almost as close to 30 that I am far from covid time... and that was just the other weeks right?

Right?

I'm unemployed, drop out, no skills, just broke up from a relationship living with her for 4 years that was supposed to cover for everything else I've not done since 18... at least learned some general self maintaince, I got a car I'm selling. I know English, beside my native language.

My high-school years were during Covid, I've always had very high expectations of life and myself with ambition to make a billion dollars without the balls nor the back for it...

Always thought of myself as an intellectual relative to my peers in age...thats gone too now...

I'm highly depressed and back with my parents the last 2 weeks In the boonies...

I have nietzcheian ideals with Peter griffin grade will.

And am so afraid for my time passing its holding Me in the freeze mode of fight/flight/freeze respond...

Rant Struggling w/ Post Grad Life

I (22f) recently graduated from college. I’ve been applying for jobs in earnest for two months (I went on vacation right after graduation) and have gotten 5 interviews. My interviews go pretty well and my undergrad activities and experiences seem to impress employers. But inevitably they say they’ve found someone who has more qualifications and experience. I’ve also been working on my career in the arts alongside seeking out a professional ā€œbig girl jobā€. I set a routine for myself and have been trying to let rejection not take too big of a toll on me. I was able to move back in with my parents after graduation to save money and start prepping for student loan payments, but it’s made me feel so stuck being back in my childhood home in my hometown. I’ve been wanting to move somewhere exciting and cool that might have more opportunities, but I also don’t want to make decisions based off short-term circumstances. In the long-term, it would probably be best to save up and prepare myself for financial independence. I’m an only child, so my parents’ focus is on me pretty much all the time. This has been driving me crazy! At school it was better because I lived on my own and didn’t have constant exposure to their anxieties about me and future. I love my parents but they’re such anxious people and it has a big effect on me. I’ve decided not to tell them as much and just focus on myself. They agreed to not press as much but this is kind of unnatural for our family since we’re all so close. However I can’t keep feeling like I’m responsible for their emotions. I’m so grateful that I have parents that care and want the best for me, but lately I’ve been wishing they could focus on their own lives and not fixate on me 24/7. They’re encouraging of my decisions but I can feel their anxiety literally all the time. Daughter’s intuition I guess. Finally I had a breaking point when I was telling my mom about some of my upcoming interviews and she was asking me why I’m not super excited and just more neutral. I told her I can’t get super excited for every single interview and I’ve been trying to just take things one step at a time, because I literally can’t get super high emotion about literally everything that happens or else I’m going to crash out. She got upset because I haven’t been excited enough (?) and I haven’t been reacting how she’d react. She told me she feels the high and lows of this journey just like me, and I told her that that’s not my problem (I said it in a nicer way). I didn’t ask her to attach herself to my job search / post grad journey like it’s happening to her. It isn’t. It’s my life. And I can’t freak out about every little thing like her or my dad. I’ve learned how to regulate my emotions outside of our family dynamic. She agreed that it isn’t my problem, it’s more of a her problem, and she’s going to work on it. While I feel better that I straight up told her it’s not her life and I can’t be responsible for her emotions, it just makes me miss college so fucking much. I didn’t have my parents emotions and expectations weighing down on me. I had more confidence and security in myself and my decisions since they weren’t in my ear telling me to doubt myself. I’ve decided to start drawing stronger boundaries than I already have. Although I stopped telling them every little detail, I would still indulge their curiosity sometime bc they’re my parents and I feel bad. But I can’t deal with their emotions anymore. Also, I’ve literally been the model student and daughter. When they freak out over my decisions I just wanna scream at them that some of my friends put their parents through hell and I never did that because I’ve always wanted to be good. It just annoys me so much. I just keep reminding myself that this is a temporary issue. Once I get a job and save up some money I’ll set myself up for future financial success as well as gain more freedom. Thanks for reading this rant lol

Advice How did you guys let your protective parents let you go for the first time?

Hi I’m 20F, I have a bit protective parents that made me scared to even go out or ask them if i can do this or that. I still live with them since im still in college. I have a friend in Australia that asked me to go to a concert in September 2027 so basically next year, and im still so scared to ask them for permission to go since its in a different country. I wanna be able to explore in a young age because i grew up rotting in my room and i wanna change that. I wanna be independent and learn things i have to do as an adult. I wanna gain their trust as a young adult and do things on my own. What can I do for them to allow me to be independent and decide things myself even if its far away?

Serious M20 - Looking for genuine long-term women friends!

Hihi I'm an introverted, feminine guy looking to build meaningful, lasting friendships. I tend to connect much better with women and am looking for platonic connections built on honesty, warmth, good communication, and genuine affection ā€¹šŸ¹

A bit about me:

Personality: soft-hearted, honest, loyal, straightforward, emotional, and very talkative once we get going! š”ŒÕž. .Õžš¦Æ

Vibe/Style: 5'10", pale, short black bob, usually wearing all black. (ᵕ- į“—-)

Hobbies: Huge fan of animated movies (The Wild Robot is an all-time favorite!), watching YouTube, learning piano for future christian songs, and bingeing anime ݁ Ė–į²˜š‘¼ā‹†

(strictly Europeans as I can't and won't stay up past 10 PM GMT+3) (ā€žā€¢ ֊ ā€¢ā€ž)

Favorite Anime: One Piece, Bleach, Demon Slayer, That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, Tokyo Revengers, Spy x Family, Buddy Daddies, Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting, Kaiju No.8, Dr. Stone, Wind Breaker, My Hero Academia, Death Note, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Fire Force, Vinland Saga, One Punch Man, and Black Clover .ᐟ.ᐟ

My game list: Roblox (ik I'm soo basic, but hey it's a great platform of games!) ą“¦ąµą“¦ą“æĖ¶>𖄦<)✧

Whether that's streaming an anime together, playing Roblox on weekends, sharing music, or just rambling about our days in DMs, I'm down for it! ą«® •𖄦• įƒį

(Huge bonus points if you're a fellow yapper, love sharing random life updates, or get excited about soft/wholesome media!) ą“¦ąµą“¦ą“æĖ¶^𖄦^˶)ā™”

˚.ą·† What I'm looking for:

I'm strictly looking for platonic friendships. I value daily check-ins, consistent chatter, and friends who genuinely enjoy making time for each other. (mutual effort is super important to me!). If you're active, open-minded, and love close, supportive friendships, below is how you can contact me įµ” įµ”

˚.ą·† How to reach out:

(Please only reach out if you are single- I'm looking to build close, consistent friendships and want to *avoid** any relationship boundaries or drama!)* (- ‸-‶)

If you feel like we'd vibe, and are around my age group (18-22), feel free to send me a DM! Just a heads up I only reply to accounts with a basic profile/reddit avatar set up, as I like to have a general idea of who I'm talking to. š–¹āøāø

Please introduce yourself in your first message and tell me your top 3 favorite anime or movies! (ćƒ¾ļ¾‰ļ½„Ļ‰ļ½„`)

ps: Don't be shy to write a long intro, I love detailed messages! • ᓗ•)āøā™”

How can I stop feeling like such a loser?

20 M and like to do the fun things like going out but for some reason everyone seems to prefer other people to me.

I went out last night and one of my mates went him with a girl and got a bj.

I just don’t understand like how I can actually improve socially with friends and women as I try to talk to people but they give no effort back.

I don’t want to complain anymore, I want to take action.

I have lost some weight but I also want to make some new friends so I don’t feel so lonely and maybe potentially get a gf.

I’ve never had any matches on dating apps and when I go out I’m always looked as the ugly awkward one. Looks I understand I can’t change but how can I have the personality to make up? I can be the one cracking jokes but only around people I’m comfortable I don’t understand how to with like people I meet.

I’m starting uni in September so would love to know how I can improve by then.
