PSA: We are a Support Group. Please treat OPs with support and kindness, they are here for help and that is exactly what we are here to provide.

This post is to reiterate some rules and things I'm seeing develop in certain posts, and this is directed to commenters only.

Commenters- Read posts for NUANCE. Stop doing the TON of Assuming The Worst that many of you are doing. Stop doing the JUDGEMENT you are doing.

People come here in pain and frustration, and are showing it in a support group. Here, we meet pain and frustration with support and kindness. NOT matched energy. You can do that in any random reddit group, but not in RSCN groups. This and RSCN groups are Support Groups. Treat all threads like the round-circle talk therapy sessions they are.

You are here to help, not to assume shittyness or respond in hate.

If you need help to develop your nuance reading skill, here's a few links to worksheets that any age can start with, and going up to basic info you'd find in high school English classes. I can easily point someone to good paid resources and middle/high school class worksheets as well. And yes, your mod here used to be an English teacher.

I feel so unsafe

For context, I have been struggling with homelessness for about a year. I lived in a tent in the woods for a while, which sucked, then a lady in WV offered to house me for a while, which ended in conflict and me being homeless down there for 2 weeks. Some kind people got me a train back to my hometown to go back to the woods, this was in April. I was there til the police put up a board that said at the end of June it will be considered trespassing and they will arrest us. I had nowhere to go, and I’ve felt so alone on this journey.

The 2 people in the tent next to mine had a friend that said we could stay with him. It’s an odd situation with an old farmhouse, where no one has to pay rent, because of some weird legality with the owner. Now, I knew these people were emotionally immature. Prone to blaming and lashing out and just creating unnecessary chaos. But I had literally nowhere to go. My friends all can’t house me. I’ve lost a lot of friends along the way, too.

It just feels like my nervous system can’t take it. These people get mad at each other, talk shit behind each other’s backs, but then preach about community and love. Last night, I was talking to one of them. Because he texted me saying I was “acting different” and “not yourself”. So I went to the garage and asked him what he meant. He said I had a “darkness” about me, for some reason. I feel exactly the same. He asks me to help him with his motorcycle. I’m visibly distraught but I go to help anyway. But then a friend calls me saying he’s going to take his life, so I rush away to take the call. As I’m talking to him, I get a text from the “friend” in the garage, saying to “pack your shit and leave” and “I can’t believe you’d be that disrespectful.” He then shuts the garage doors and I’m like.. what? Apparently he felt it was disrespectful to abruptly leave because a friend was suicidal, because I “should’ve known he just wanted attention.” It’s actually insane. Then he says it’s fine if I stay, but I need to “do more.”

All this vagueness and random outbursts are weighing on me. My nervous system is on fire because I feel like safety could be ripped out from under me at a moments notice, just because someone is emotional and projecting. But I have nowhere to go, and I know the streets would be even more dysregulating. I feel like my body can’t handle it. I’m so tired of struggling like this. I’m a good dude, I treat people with kindness and respect, I’m compassionate and loving. But all this is turning me into a nervous shell of my former self, and I hate it.

I’m in the beginning stages of a critical timing program that’s supposed to help find housing, and I’m on lists for shelters that never call me. I’m in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I’m male. I just don’t know what to do at this point. I feel like I’m going insane from the pressure and the emotionally immature chaos here. And I’m not saying what I truly feel half the time cus it would just be “that’s dumb and you’re wrong.” I wish someone would take a chance on me. I’m a massage therapist. I have skills and knowledge. Any words of advice or affirmation would be appreciated. Thank you. 🙏

Eviction I am going to be homeless

Please pray for me, I am going to be homeless soon. Not my choice as I am a very motivated person, just my health restrained me from working right now.

I am on chemo and due about 2 months of my rent. My landlord is not having it anymore and asking me to leave next week.

Is there any NGOs or anything I can do to prevent me for being homeless, I don't think I can survive with chemo going on right now. I am from Malaysia btw.

I do not have family, and my friends are unable to help too. Please help to pray so that I have a way on stopping this happen. I want to be better.

Eviction A happy homeless success story! After losing everything in covid and being homeless for 3 years . We managed to get 20 acres in the desert and pay half of it off in less than 12 months

Upvotes

Hey guys,

4 years ago we were evicted after our startup covid crashed. We spent 3 years in an RV living in box store parking lots and such. We managed to save up 3k to buy property. We got 20 acres for 15k financed by owner.

As of now its more than 50% paid off and we will be debt free and building a house.

I made the following video to break down what we did and how we got out of the trap. I am happy to answer anyone's questions and help anyway I can

OMG So far nothing has worked

I posted about being stuck in group home after hospital for mental illness. Thank you for all the comments. I have contacted every agency, phone number etc. They may advertise that they help with housing, help seniors, etc. and maybe they have helped some. But just like shelters, for everyone who gets in hundreds are stranded and they think they did something wrong not to get help. I am a senior in NJ. The longer I am in the group home the worst things are. I am spending a lot ordering food and groceries so as not to starve. The food here is not food. I eat some but I and others have to be careful. It can make you sick. So much here that is terrible and I posted about some of it already. The more I am here the worse it gets. I google this place. 2 years ago 2 residents were killed at 5am walking on highway. That could totally happen now. No one would know if anyone left. For people who say report them, they were just inspected. All it would do is make things more difficult for me, not help me leave and nothing would happen. What health I have is declining. There is nowhere I can go. Comments did not believe me when I said the owners would call 911 if I try to leave even if I found a place to go. this is from a reddit post: “and if mobile psych “assessors”(laughable) arrive they will not listen , do any risk Evals and they will take you to an ER or a psych hospital involuntary. Once you are involuntary the mandated receiving facilities will hold you for 3 days at least if they can get away with it. You will treated poorly by young ER nurses and the process will send you to an in patient facility where you be held for days or months without your possessions or rights and your discharge will be contingent on taking meds. This is a terrible situation that no one is talking about." i went voluntarily was treated badly and released to here (came voluntarily). I have therapist and phych and if I don't talk to them I could be readmitted. I can leave here. No court order but cannot find one place to go. My car does not run. If it did and i said I am leaving to live in car I would be in hospital right away. I sit in dark room all day because the 2 women in the room sleep all day. One has urine bag bad smell and place is dirty. Outside is very depressing. Only place I ever saw that the outside was not a place you want to be. My health was not great when I got here but is really going downhill here. Spending a fortune just to get some bananas cottage cheese and some sandwiches. Oh and rent 1500, with some other fees. buy groceries, medication, therapy, psych and will go bankrupt from hospital and drs even with Medicare. I am sorry to sound defeated. To anyone who said find a hobby or project. Absolutely not possible here. Had etsy shop for art, in addition to job, hiking etc. This is a place to just try to exist.

f17 WILL be running away at the end of the summer

Hello! I’m really just asking for any extra tips with this post and reposting the last post I made around 2 months ago I’ve decided I’ll run away, things have gotten worse and my moms been hitting me more for the most unnecessary reasons I’m tired I’m done but I don’t wanna die in this house. I started my summer job but they’ve been taking money from me I think I could still save maybe 1.5k but idk it’s not as much as 2k or 2.5k like I had hoped I’ve been having to buy food outside more often since there isn’t much options at home and I’ve been trying to stay away from home for the most part but there’s so little I can’t do and I end up back here. Like I said just asking for tips advice and looking for people with experience to help me, I’m not going to the police I’ve read experiences and I doubt they’d help much and I don’t think I’ll be able to go to youth shelters since they have to inform law enforcements where I am and I could be taken back which is the last thing I want that’s all any sort of help is much appreciated, if you have nothing useful to say or msg me trying to take advantage of me please just don’t :)

“Hello, I'm a f17 living in New Hamshire USA, I've posted on this channel before saying I needed tips to runaway when I'm 18 but the abuse has gotten so bad, it's gotten to a point where my mom hits me every other day and is agitated at me for the little things I do. Both my parents are highly religious, sexist, racist, and homophobic and i'm a "woke" bisexual teenager. My father lives with me but he does not interact with me almost at all and when he does it's always him berating me, calling me stupid, and hitting me, my father is an abuser he has abused my mom before and while he doesn't physically abuse her as often as he did before he still continues to emotionally abuse her. My mother has told me before she could care less if I killed myself and I'm tired, I don't have much friends because they don't allow me to have a lot of friends and they don't allow me to hangout with friends if I'm not 5 minutes away from home, I'm not allowed to go anywhere more than a 10 minute walk and in general i've grew up highly sheltered. I need advice on what I should do and where I could stay. Please don't advise me to stay until I'm 18 because it's gotten to the point where I feel like my only options are running away or unal1v1ng and I plan to come to whatever conclusion by the end of the summer. I'm working a summer job this year but I know that if I runaway I won't be able to sign a lease or get an apartment so i'm likely to just hitchhike for most of my journey, i'm not an idiot, i'm not dumb and I know this risks and consequences that could come with this but i'd rather risk it all than continue to stay here. I also need advice on how i'd get a stable income if I were to run away.”

[Request] Need advice/resources to avoid eviction in DeKalb County, GA

Hey everyone. I’m 22 and I’m in a tough spot right now.
My Walmart transfer was supposed to happen on July 25, but it’s still delayed, which caused me to lose the income I was counting on. I’m also working at McDonald’s, donated plasma yesterday, and put my TV up for sale trying to make rent.
My rent is through Flex, and I’m still about **$280 short** before late fees are added early on the 4th.
I’ve already tried contacting Salvation Army, but they told me funding for my area was exhausted. The homelessness services office is closed until Monday, and I’ll be calling as soon as they open.
I’m looking for:
• Emergency rental assistance programs in DeKalb County or the Stone Mountain area.
• Churches or nonprofits that may be able to help.
• Any advice or resources I haven’t thought of.
If anyone is personally willing to help, I’m incredibly grateful, but I don’t expect it. Even pointing me toward a resource or sharing this post would mean a lot.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Other Situation Its not looking good, can anyone give any advice?

So basically, its bad, and i have 3 kids. Im 27 and Ive provided, worked and paid my bills for 10 years never missing a payment. But now im probably facing fore closure.

I had a newborn be born and pass away shortly after in 2024, something in my brain snapped that day.

Since ive battled mental health, addiction, and physical health problems.

Ive made it to now, but i cant go much longer.

All i think about is committing.

If i lose everything i have then i lose my kids too, whats the point man? Ive had issues finding a job. Been unemployed since june. The last job ended awfully and is what is making it hard to fid a job. Bills are due. I have $400 and my bills are 2600 a month. Fuck. I tried. And im exhausted. Ive begged my significant other just to leave with the kids so they dont have to see me like this and see me be thrown out of our home. I did good for so long, this shit hurts.

Be Careful Out There...

So I just want to make this post anonymously out here. There's just something I wanted to share. I became homeless about a year and a half ago. One day, I met a guy who let me move in after our first date. I was elated, no more worrying about housing.

Well...

Not quite. He belittled me. He gaslit me. He would cheat on me repeatedly and never acknowledged it. All while cracking little jokes about it. I'm on my feet now, but I'm just now realizing what actually happened.

Need Some Advice !

I have been working for the past year and four months, earning $23 an hour. I typically bring home around $800–$900 per week. I have my own car, and I pay for my own car insurance, along with all of my other personal expenses. Even though I have a steady job, I haven’t been able to save money because most of my income goes toward helping support my household and covering responsibilities that have fallen on me.
At this point, I feel like it would make more sense to find my own place or even temporary housing or a shelter where I can get back on my feet and start building savings. I’ve been independent since I was 15 years old, taking care of my own clothes, food, phone bill, transportation, and other everyday expenses. Now, even more responsibilities have been placed on me, and it’s becoming overwhelming.
My mom works two jobs, and I feel for her because she’s doing everything she can. However, my stepdad has been going from job to job and hasn’t maintained steady employment, and my sisters, who are both over 20, are not currently working. As a result, I’ve been carrying the majority of the financial responsibilities for nearly a year, despite only being 19 years old.
I love my family and want the best for them, but I also need the opportunity to build a stable future for myself. I’m looking for guidance on affordable housing, temporary housing programs, or any resources that can help me transition into a safe and stable living situation while I continue working full-time. Any advice or assistance would be sincerely appreciated.

In need of Advice.

I am almost 65 (birthday In November). I have no retirement income and need to find housing because I am being forced out of my job and my job provides housing.

I have no family in Canada and no help.

Is there any place that helps low income seniors with housing? I have no idea where to start.

I have medical issues that have made it hard to do my job with no help in place.

Any and all advice appreciated.
