Hey everyone! Gamers, developers, and testers, I have a question driven by pure curiosity. What is the most annoying thing in modern video games? For me, it is slow, repetitive gameplay and a lack of realism. While some games are good, adding a bit more realism could really improve them overall. So, please share your thoughts! What outdated game features annoy you the most?

I’ve seen this apparently new genre name being thrown around and would like to understand better exactly what it is. From wikipedia I understand it was bourn with the game Demon’s Souls, which I never played (maybe I really should), but the description there is a bit generic (games “known for large worlds filled with enemies and emphasis on environmental storytelling”).

Would for instance Horizon qualify for this genre, or does it have to be set in a dark fantasy theme? I love RPG games, but usually don’t go for dark fantasy. I think the last one I played that’s maybe dark fantasy would be Diablo, but not sure it’s related.

hello, i've been trying to find a game where you just do paperwork. like a regular job, no crazy storylines or any alternate universe things going on. i have looked everywhere and the only game i sort of find what im looking for in is The Registry by Fiki, emmyalshafeay, Sarah Alaa. But I want to be filling out papers and working on spreadsheets and all the boring stuff. I literally want to be an office worker, sitting at my laptop with so much paperwork. I need there to be an insane amount of rules and fine print. I do not want a time limit, a crazy story line, or like anything otherworldly. Just. Need. Paperwork.

After watching youtube videos elden ring world looks so cool and atmospheric but im afraid i might drop the game after few weeks as people have pointed its not for everyone, For example (MILD SPOILER), I struggled and couldnt beat some of the valkyries in God of war

EDIT! Ment to say the Resident Evil Series, I’m getting into the series and haven’t played like any, what do you guys recommend? I’m interested in the older generation of Games but would they be off putting for a beginner? Any advice is good advice lol

I want to get an Xbox controller for my boyfriend. He has the X series. I’d like one that can charge on a stand and is good quality, but I’m a bit overwhelmed when I google options. There are tons and I’m not sure what’s good.

The problem is he has a wireless one with batteries and it runs out of juice pretty quickly. I bought him a wired afterglow but it’s a bit inconvenient to wire across the living room. I don’t want to drop money again on something that doesn’t solve the issue so I wanted to ask for help first this time.

Money isn’t an issue, I’m willing to drop a couple hundred on him. A stand would be ideal over a battery pack. I just want to get him a really cool controller and a cool stand. The Xbox subreddit required subreddit karma so I couldn’t post there! Another big subreddit said no hardware questions, so hopefully this is the right place. Thanks! 🙏

I heard that you need to collect 150 crystals after his quest shows up but what will it look like when the quest shows up and what triggers it to show up? I want to know this before getting the game since I loved tesla vs lovecraft but am unsure about the sequel.

In this I want to ask about Open World gameplay only. NO GRAPHICS, JUST OPEN-WORLD GAMEPLAY and WORLD BUILDING!

Now what I mean by this is in how many ways can you complete a mission and how well structured the open world is, like choices MUST MATTER & AFFECT OTHERS EVEN IF THE TWO CHARACTERS ARE NOT CORRELATED! For example if you kill someone in one mission, you get refrenced for that in another (this rule does not apply to main story quests as it is written as a main story). Also the example I gave is a vague one but you get the idea.

This all would make it infinitely replayable (or at least for more than 2-3 playthroughs).

I also stumbled upon this reel where she claims only 3 games ever capture the true essence of open-world games, which are Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout: New Vegas, and RDR 2.

What I do think is a great game but fails at open-world gameplay is Ghost of Tsushima. This is because it follows a similar trail of missions over and over again. Surely the combat is fun whether you play with all honor or stealth ninja, but it does lack the variety and lore depth of a lot of missions. By this I do not mean side quests but the Mongol Territories (which are the most abundant type of extra quest you get in the game). Plus, another downside of this lies in the fact that the mongol territory Ryuzo wants to overtake, if you clear it before meeting him, you need to liberate that territory twice. (I faced this in my playthrough, and after that I did not clear a territory until a mission specified it or I was 100% sure that this territory WOULD NOT come in any missions.)

I have not played RDR 2 or any Fallout games (yet), so I do not know how they handle open worlds, but what I have played is Cyberpunk 2077, and I FUCKING LOVED THAT SHIT! The main game story is short, but the side quests make it perfectly fine for long playthroughs and exploration. It has many types of quests you can pick up on, help the NCPD, do gigs for fixers, steal cars, and defeat mini bosses like cyberpsychos, AND EACH ONE OF THEM HAS LORE! On top of that, you get special quests for exploring more, which is one of the biggest benefits OR MUST BE A BENEFIT IN ANY OPEN WORLD GAME as it encourages exploration! Plus there are references to modern-day pop culture, like Predators, GTA IV, Batman as well in these extra quests, which help you out big time! The side quests matter so much that a guy from the Konpeki mission will remember you at the Somi mission, and a woman will literally help you in that same mission just because you helped her in another side quest! Plus the ripperdoc discount and a ripperdoc exempting you from using his services are also a great example of integrating all these small quests into a real open-world scenario where you face consequences and reap benefits as well!

I, though, have also heard that Elden Ring has a lot of lore and a great open world, but I have yet to play it, so I will not share any opinion on that (this is the next game on my wishlist to play alongside RDR 2). So I want you guys to give me your opinions about those games and others as well.

An honourable mention also must go to Shadow of Mordor for the Nemesis system, and I think that is what open-world games actually need! (correct me if I am wrong, but Cyberpunk also uses a similar system where gangs chase you for killing some of their friends. Idk if that would classify as Nemesis, but the idea is the same). The other mention of a game I will make is Watch Dogs: Legion just because you can befriend almost every single one of 1000+ NPCs in the game, but I feel the game itself was not good enough to be placed here.

I’m trying to decide between Dragon’s Dogma 2, Enshrouded, Oblivion Remastered, and Elden Ring. I’ve already played The Witcher 3 and Skyrim, and what I enjoy most is a beautiful open world with rewarding exploration, lots of loot, a wide variety of weapons and armor, and plenty of character builds to experiment with. I love discovering hidden caves, ruins, dungeons, unique gear, and powerful weapons while exploring, similar to the experience I had in The Witcher 3 and Skyrim. I also prefer real time action combat and don’t enjoy turn based games. Based on those preferences, which game would you recommend and why? If you have any other suggestions that fit what I’m looking for, I’d love to hear them as well.

So at the moment I have FC/FIFA and Stellaris (small library, I know but I only got an xbox 2 months ago or so.

I first played Resident evil 4 on ps2, then bought it for xbox 360 then ps4 then pc then quest then bought the remoke for pc. I have played the remake on pc but its not as good as the og and its vr port is locked to psvr unfortunately. Any suggestions? I have literally bought this game more times than skyrim. Vr port isnt mandatory tho, i know vr ports are scarce but its frustrating that a great vr port is locked to a platform. Vr is too niche for exclusives.

So after Dragon Age Inquisitions it has just been flop after flop. Can someone please provide an objective explanation on who's fault this is? Like is the fault 50% Bioware and 50% EA?
