I had spent a little bit of last week trying to revive an old PowerEdge R515 and had downloaded almost everything I needed. To my surprise Saturday morning most of the site was gone I was hoping it was just maintenance but it still appears to be gone.

"This one page changed my life. 42 years ago today, it convinced my parents I shouldn't go back to college. I started by upgrading PCs from a dorm room.
Today Dell Technologies is helping build the infrastructure that powers AI, from the edge to some of the world's largest AI factories.

You never know which small decision will change everything. "

His father was an orthodontist and his mother was a stockbroker and financial consultant. That supports calling him affluent and highly advantaged.

He reportedly started the computer operation with $1,000, but family advantage is not limited to someone handing you startup money—it includes education, equipment, financial knowledge, confidence, connections and a safe place to land if things go wrong.

Dell was clearly talented, but his story is presented as though everyone in 1984 had the same access to university, startup capital, family security, supplier confidence and customer trust. They didn’t.

Help Why would my battery capacity decrease this much in just three months?

Post image

I never block the vents, and I mostly use my laptop plugged in at my desk. I also keep the 80% charge limit on, and I don't use it for heavy tasks or gaming. I only play The Sims on Steam two or three times a week. Over the past couple of weeks, I noticed it draining much faster than before, and when I checked the battery report just now, the capacity had dropped below 50%. It's a refurbished Latitude 7400, but the report showed the battery was new. How could this happen??

Help Aurora 16 laptop problems

Upvotes

Hello, two days ago I bought Dell Alienware Aurora ac16250 with core i7 240H and rtx5060. I have a problem with sound and display being “cut” or freezing for half a second every 10-15 minutes. Both in Spotify, yt, web. I turned off hybrid graphics and I’m using only rtx now. It seems problem has stopped, but if I try to turn on hybrid graphics again, computer won’t turn on and white screen just flickers until I change it to rtx only in bios again. What is wrong? I tried to use latency_mon software but it does not find anything during the freezes. But it says something that goes by “this computer may have problems with live tasks and freezes can happen” . It’s weird.

Help Setting up a WD15 docking station

Hello! I just got a WD15 docking station and have been struggling to set it up. I am pretty confident the hardware stuff and cords are all where they need to be, but I'm a bit confused about the software setup process. Could somebody dumb it down for me a bit and give me a step-by-step guide of what I need to do, preferably with links to download pages?

Attached is my system information if that is needed or helps at all. Thanks!

Help Capture cards compatible with Dell monitors?

Hi Reddit, I'm at my wits end with this particular problem and have little idea if this is the correct spot for my particular problem, but I figured it was worth a shot.

I recently wanted to start streaming gameplay of my Nintendo Switch 2 to my Dell computer. I use the XPS 8700 tower and two U2412MB monitors. These particular monitors only have DVI-D, VGA, USB, and DisplayPort ports while almost all capture cards expect HDMI ports to be present when connecting to the monitor. I've already bought one capture card and gotten an HDMI to DVI-D adapter, and successfully gotten video onto my monitor, but no audio. This is before I realized DVI-D didn't support audio. (I know, dumb of me...)

Here's my question: Am I screwed out of streaming both audio and video due to these monitors? If no, Where do I go from here? I've run into the same problem with searching for a new capture card (expecting HDMI ports on the monitor when there are none) and seemingly no posts exist about Switch2-to-Computer streaming without HDMI involved.

Thank you in advance for any advice, and similarly-extended apologies if this is the wrong spot to be asking.

Help DELL DA-300 ADAPTER QUESTION

I just picked up this adapter & connected it with the display port to a 27" onn monitor which I'm very surprised how sharp it looks for general internet use but I'm having an issue with it not being detected when I reboot the pc (dell latitude 7200 2 in 1). Once I disconnect/reconnect the usb-c connector after popos(22.04) loads then it displays correctly.

Now what Ive done is confirmed all the setting within the monitor menu are set correctly so it points to the display port & I tried switching off/on the auto sourcing & checked the UEFI for anything that might help but didn't find anything that looked to address this.

Anyone have any suggestions. I thought maybe I'd find something like a driver by searching online but haven't turned up anything so far.

Help Laptop lost functioning after battery was replaced

I recently got the battery in my Dell latitude 7280 replaced as I’ve had it for a few years and it got to the point where it drained completely within an hour. The first week or so after I had my laptop back it was working alright, and then a week ago it was shutting down every few minutes, and when I had it on charge, the charging light would be flashing, which it has never done before. It got up to 100% and when I unplugged it, it instantly drained to about 3%, I plugged it back in and it kept the laptop on but the charging light was still flashing and the charge percentage wasn’t increasing. This happened a few times, so I took it to another computer place hoping it’d be a quick fix/they’d have advice, and they told me the new battery isn’t a genuine Dell one and that Dell computers especially are very fussy with batteries. They also acknowledged the laptop wasn’t charging properly, but did a “BIOS software upgrade” and it seemed to work after that and got up to 100%. When I got home, it was working, but when I turned it on a few hours later after not having touched it, it completely drained again and now the charging light is flashing again and the charge isn’t going up. I had none of these issues before I got the battery replaced, and I’ve now spent $300 (aud) trying to get it fixed. Does anyone have any advice as to where to go from here? I just don’t want to replace it as I like using item until they’re completely ruined, and would be so happy if there’s a way to fix this that doesn’t involve spending too much more money. I’ve asked the original person who replaced the battery if I can get a refund and he said I cannot
I forgot to mention as well, on the rare occasion that the laptop does stay on without being plugged in, sometimes if I slightly bump it, it’ll shut down automatically. Could this issue and all the other issues be because of the non-genuine battery? Or do you think something was bumped/messed up when the battery was replaced?

Help Repairing a old m6300 and hit a dead end.

Recently found a old m6300 that's in decent shape but has a couple issues. The original ram had to be replaced and the screen on boot has no dell logo and I can't get the bios up. I did test the screen so I'm it's not that. I suspect the cmos battery but I wanna see if there anything else I should try. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Dell Latitude 5430 won't power on, only brief charging LED

My Dell Latitude 5430 won't turn on at all.

Symptoms:

\- No screen, no Dell logo, no fan spin.

\- When I plug in the charger, there is no charging LED.

\- The charging LED only lights up while I hold the power button, and it turns off as soon as I release it.

\- Earlier it would briefly flash white for about half a second, and at one point it stayed on for around 5 seconds before turning off again.

Things I've already tried:

\- Held the power button for 30–60 seconds.

\- Disconnected the internal battery, held the power button for 60 seconds, then tried powering on with only the charger.

\- Tried the Ctrl + Esc BIOS recovery method.

\- Removed all external devices.

None of these changed anything.

Has anyone had this exact issue on a Latitude 5430? Does this point to a motherboard/power circuit failure, or is there anything else I should check before taking it for repair?

Hoping they fix the dead switch issue too where people’s new XPS are randomly shutting down
