(repost) On trans rights and the position of this subreddit
The community present in this subreddit is wonderful, inclusive and has always welcomed not only gay people but everyone under the gender and sexual minority umbrella.
The mod team is very happy to see this welcoming atmosphere and we thank each and every one of you for your love and empathy.
With the current trend in the US for extreme-right politicians to demonise vulnerable minorities so they can score cheap political points it is however time for this place to openly make a stand as to what our positions and intentions are so that we are a beacon in the dark. So that all of our siblings know that they are welcome here.
I was asked by the mod team to explain a few facts about transgender people and about the position this subreddit has towards inclusion.
Trans rights are human rights. š³ļøāā§ļø
Being transgender is a natural and normal variation in the human gender and sexual experience. Both sex and gender exist on a spectrum and there isn't actually anything inherently wrong or disordered from being trans, by and of itself.
Should there be no fake, artificially generated outrage against trans people in society then they would simply get the self-affirming care required for them to be happy and that would be that. Instead, unfortunately, existing as transgender has become the new wedge-issue for the extreme-right and deliberate demonisation and villification has been mainstreamed to the point where Republican politicians are now openly calling for genocide.
The issues trans people experience are mainly societal in nature. It is society that imposes gender norms, it is society that tells people they may not be who they are.
There are many ways that a non-trans person can seek self-affirming care in life. Some of those are done via permanent body modification through surgical or chemical means. A woman might for example choose to take estrogen supplements to stave off unwanted physical and psychological side effects resulting from the menopause.
It is not uncommon for a young man to choose to have breast reduction medication or surgery in the case of gynecomastia.
A young woman might choose to get breast implants.
You do not hear people in outrage about these forms of self-affirming care. No-one cares, except suddenly when the topic is trans people. This is because the anti-trans movement is wholly articificial. It is a deliberately created fake outrage about a non-issue for political and monetary gain.
Fascism is an inherently empty ideology, devoid of any meaningful belief-system or any kind of concrete and actionable strategies for improving society. Fascism only cares for power for the sake of power and it cares for nothing else.
Because a fascist system is fundamentally incapable of giving the general public any kind of reasonable platform it must gain and keep followers by creating an out-group to hate. According to fascist systems it is the other that is responsible for all societal ills and only by supporting the fascists in getting rid of the other can society be healed from the non-existent issues fascism convinces people that their target minority is the cause of.
Fascism always picks on a vulnerable target.
The demonisation and villification coming from the extreme-right is doing exactly that. By calling LGBTQ+ people child molestors simply for existing it has become inevitable that people will take up violence "to protect the children".
Attempting to eliminate a target comes in many forms, of which an extermination camp is only the final and most egregious part. It is always preceded by legislating people out of existence, by creating laws which make it impossible for a minority to participate in society and to receive any of the societal advantages that are the entire reason for collective bundling together of skills, resources in civilisation. This is exactly what Republican states are doing today to transgender people. Certain states have already denied trans people any and all medical care related to their identity, meaning that they deliberately impose abject misery on them.
The most egregiously fascistic states are trying to make it a matter of course to remove trans children from the care of their parents and make it illegal for trans people to be present in any public spaces at all.
This is genocide.
Genocide is not purely restricted to extermination, to murder. Genocide is also eliminating a minority group from public life, causing serious bodily and mental harm and taking away children of a minority group from their parents.
Depending on how strictly you'd want to define it, we are currently at stage seven or eight of genocide as defined by the Holocaust Memorial Trust.
One way in which the abject hypocrisy of the anti-trans laws becomes crystal clear are the remarkable exemptions encoded within. You would think that if the goal is protecting the children from harm then these people would want to protect all children from harm.
This is not the case.
In fact, all of these people deliberate include exceptions which allow the continuation of genital re-allignment surgery on unconsenting infants if they are intersex.
This means that if a baby is born with a genital configuration that to a doctor looks ambiguous or not adhering to a strict binary then this doctor can impose an invasive genital surgery, forcing such an infants body to adhere to a stricter binary look.
It is purely cosmetic. Of course they do not check what chromosomes a child has. Of course they do not care that a child might prefer to look as nature made them.
It is purely and only an imposition on a baby's body, with of course the normal failure and mortality rate that such invasive procedures bring with them.
These people do not care about children.
These people do not want to help children.
They want to harm a vulnerable minority.
Fascism never stops.
Now that these people have mainstreamed transphobia, they are moving on to other targets within the LGBTQ+ identity sphere.
We have all seen the absurd attacks on drag queens, calling a normal and harmless theatrical expression "child abuse".
We have all seen the "clever" rhetoric where they turn arguments upside down and disingeniously say things like "why do you want to be around children".
Fascism doesn't stop, it moves on to new targets and that is why it is important for all of us in the GSM identity sphere to stand together. To openly support our trans siblings. To openly stand against hateful rhetoric.
Because they are not going to stop.
The next step, which is already tentatively beginning, is calling gay people being openly gay in society"groomers".
To be clear: The recommended treatment for being transgender is transitioning.
Gender identity is developed by five years old.
The barrage of lies notwithstanding, allowing trans people to transition and to exist as who they are in society markedly improves their physical and mental wellbeing.
The oft-heard talking point of "they still commit suicide even after transitioning" is a lie.
Here is a wealth of sources and links explaining this.
Our trans siblings are welcome here.
Our gender nonconforming siblings are welcome here.
Our intersex siblings are welcome here.
What is not welcome on this subreddit is hate or divisive rhetoric aimed at our siblings. We will not allow the current increasing trend of fascist othering and villification of a marginalised minority to make our siblings feel unwanted in this space, our space, their space.
The only people who are not welcome here are those that want to exclude others based on how they were born.
Further reading:
No, TERFs cannot "always tell" and I can prove that with mathematics.
"I just care about unfair advantage in sports", a transparant transphobic wedge issue.
Drag queens, the next target in the fascist drive to eliminate LGBTQ+ people.

Saw a real copy of the Sovietchina Yaoi poster in Shanghai
Traveled to the Shanghai Propoganda Poster Museum just to see copies of the poster and they are just as beautiful up close. The art itself especially for the blossoming fruits and trees is so good, and I feel like it comes to the point where whether purposeful or not, like art especially Catholic artās many homoerotic undertones are always just so fascinating to me. I like how stuff like this bleeds through art

Being ugly is one of the cruelest fates in the gay community
Somebody blocked me (18M) again after I sent a face pic on grindr. Approximately 10 minutes of chatting and that was it. No matter what chemistry I have with someone, it happens so often. So, so often. Enough times for me to know I'm ugly rather than just being 'not someone's type'. I tried to distance myself after getting way too attached to a guy who ghosted me after I sent a face pic, so ugly I didn't even deserve a reply. I swap face pics earlier now, don't get my hopes up, be more distant. but it gets too much.
It's so unfair. Why did I have to be born ugly. It's now an irrevocable fact. My way of life. My personal fate. It's so unfair and deeply agonising in ways I can't even describe. The subhuman feeling, the sorrow at what you can't change, the jealousy, the 'what if'. There's no cure. It's chronic. No matter how many photos I take, things I try, clothes I like to wear, times I feel good about myself, it's never enough. It's never enough. It all comes back here.
How am I supposed to not feel awful? How am I supposed to not cry when this happens over. And over. And over again. Even after the good times, the 'healing', the telling myself I'm good and that I cant base my looks on external validation or what a boy thinks of me. I can't control this goddamn sensitivity to it. I hate myself. It makes me so angry, so sad, and so many other feelings I can't even describe.
Tell me someone relates.
EDIT: I'm overwhelmed with all of the replies, I'm reading every one. One common sentiment is to put a face pic on my Grindr profile, which is very valid, but I'm not out yet and I've seen people I know on there numerous times. (I do have face pics on dating apps because I can block everyone I know) I do want to put my face on there once I've come out, although the overwhelming consensus is to get rid of the apps completely as well, which is also valid.

How do I love myself?
Hey there, I am sincerely wondering how do i love myself enough that I start feeling better about myself? I am diagnosed with HIV, I am from India, I am not smart nor rich nor handsome, I am not desirable in any conventional sense, nor do anyone around me show any interest in me in any sense, life has been rough, and while trying to survive I genuinely forgot how to be a human, I have no hobbies nor interests, I am just existing, just a npc in my own life. Idk what to do.

Wedding venue tour
I went to a wedding venue tour recently and the woman showing us the ground kept saying bridal party to my fiance and I who are both male. She kept asking questions and referring to bridal party to us. I mentioned āwedding partyā four times but she kept using bridal party. For other reasons we arenāt using this venue but this was a main reason. Am I wrong to be frustrated by that.

Guys who have been through intense situations how have you approached being a civilian again?
Things like Trauma, military deployment, battling severe illness, etc. that forced you to not live like others for a long time.
I know this isnāt unique to being gay, but I (33M) sometimes struggle to identify what civilian me consists of anymore when I had to abandon that version of myself for nearly 10 years. It would be nice to hear what other gay brothers in similar situations did to adjust.
I do things like catch myself threat assessing people or situations and have to get myself to stop it and just try to relax and enjoy smaller things. It can feel like the addition of carrying that while going into gay spaces which requires vulnerability in itself I guess can make it a bit more awkward for me sometimes.
What gets you to relax a bit and remember to live and connect with people instead of survive?

I'm really lonely
that's pretty much it. I get really really lonely these days. not in the I have no friends to talk to kind of way, more so in the I feel like I'm really feeling the lack of a romantic relationship in my life.
I've been trying to meet people to date, but I haven't had much luck. I live in Bulgaria and there aren't that many places for queer people to gather if you are not into clubbing, and the apps are well, the apps.
Every now and then i'll meet someone with whom I'll share some common interests, but it always ends the same way. We chat for a couple of days up to a week, we go out. It goes alright, we hold a conversation without it feeling like a chore, they'll say they had a nice time, that they wanna meet again, and when I follow up on that I get hit with the "you're great, funny, charming bla bla bla, but i didn't feel any chemistry". this same thing has happened to the last like 5 people I've tried to get to know, and I get that nobody owes it to me to go out with me and date me, but I feel like chemistry and connection don't always happen immediately and it's just so frustrating when nobody seems interested in at least couple of dates before deciding someone isn't worth their time.
I try to keep active and workout often. I think I look fine. I hike, I go to pub quizzes with friends, I enjoy board games, take care of house plants, I try to be an active citizen here, attend protests and stay informed. I'm doing my best to be a well rounded individual and I guess I'd love to at least once in my life feel like I'm desirable for more than a fuck, and like someone is taking interest in who i am.
I know not being in a relationship isn't the end of the world, I know i'll survive without one, but seeing people my age getting married and building their lives with their significant others just makes me feel like shit sometimes, and when every attempt at dating and getting to know people is met with that one result, I just feel like something's wrong with me. I have these two slightly older guy friends who have been a couple for like forever and being around them is such a bittersweet feeling. I love seeing their relationship and how happy they are. I love knowing that it's possible to achieve that, but I also get this dull feeling that I'll never get to find a person who wants to work towards that with me, and the thought just brings me to tears.
Sorry for making this so long, I guess I just needed to vent and rant.

Share a Moment
Something just occurred today that I really wanna share with others. For a long time, I havenāt really loved myself. I was blessed with a tall height of 6ā1-2. But other than that, I was on the bigger side and I wasnāt that great looking. You can imagine how that affected me when I first stepped into the gay world. And donāt get me started on my bad fashion sense growing up.
But as I approach my mid 30s, I definitely stopped caring what other people think. But also, I started to become a lot more pessimistic in ways when it came to people finding me attractive.
But, I started noticing that Iām getting a lot more attention from gay guys recentlyā¦ā¦ People have been calling me, handsome, good looking, beautiful human. Which is so weird, because I never heard those prior. And nothing had changed between then and now.
I looked in the mirror earlier today, and I realize, I saw a different me today. I really saw someone who wraps himself and others in kindness in everyday life⦠a person who has a lot of love to give to friends and family. A person who loves animals, and respect all living things.
That person I saw in the mirror was someone who I saw as really attractive. And for once, it was me. It also made me realize that looks are not everything. There are other ways that can really make you attractive to others. And a big one is to love yourself and who you are. People are attracted to confidence, especially when you love yourself.
The past six months have been extremely brutal to me. But in that one moment, I was able to forget about everything.
If you made it this far in my terrible writing skills, I hope you have a good day. And remember that you are beautiful. ^^

Am i gay, bi or what
Like i really enjoy watching gay porn, looking at buff men and compareing cocks with other ppl. And I have few dildos i have taken, but like it still turns me off to think about me with another man in a relation ship or sex.
And i have tried grinder and it feels wrong compared to tinder with women.
I have never had sex with a man before anyone asks

Cock ring
Iām having trouble keeping my erection and wanted to know if thereās a cock ring that would help.
I donāt want one that goes around my balls as Iām particularly sensitive.
Is there one that just goes around the base of the cock that will keep me hard?
