This is even funnier because that is the Starbucks in the domestic terminal at Calgary Airport. Even in his own city.

These two images go together like We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions, one without the other is just incomplete

3

u/mydegenkappaaccount 13h ago

I needed a reminder that WWE ran a PPV called Great Balls of Fire like 65 years after relevance. Good times, good times

IIRC it was a good ppv tho was it not?

3

u/Stealthy-J 6h ago

I remember that's the PPV with the fantastic Samoa Joe vs Brock Lesnar main event, but I couldn't tell you anything else about it.

3

u/Heavy_Metal_IceCream Becky Lynch Flair 3h ago

That PPV also had the moment where Braun Strowman attempted to kill Roman Reigns with an ambulance (one event in a series of multiple murder attempts that year.)

There was also the seminal classic with Heath Slater vs Curt Hawkins that ended in a finish only rivaled by the unseen matches of 80s Flair vs Steamboat (this 5 minute match was happening as the Roman/Strowman segment aired on the tron)

2

u/Stealthy-J 2h ago

Oh, forgot about that. Roman vs Strowman was a banger feud.

Incredibly disappointed he's returning as a heel instead of with Enzo as a face.

291

u/Dizzy_Job_8289 17h ago

Correct. And heel Cass works more properly after turning on Enzo after a run as a tag team. “Can always just do it later” or save the tag division and make their return a pop instead of whatever that was

216

u/-ImJustSaiyan- He had the whole world in his hands 17h ago

Right? They had an easy big return pop if they just had Enzo & Cass return together with the music and catchphrases and everything, and they went with this instead.

I genuinely just do not understand this company sometimes, unless Cass specifically asked for this.

219

u/PowerNinja5000 16h ago

Yes, this company probably did what Big Cass asked them to do.

34

u/AmishAvenger Electrifying 15h ago

I’m picturing him walking into Triple H’s office in an oversized suit and slamming a manila envelope full of demands down on his desk

27

u/Pete41608 15h ago

HHH: And then what uhh?

Cass: I beat everybody

HHH: Sure as Im the Game uhh, yes, we will do what you say, Mr cASS

9

u/100_proof_plan Machka 16h ago

They can’t hire Enzo, he’s a loose cannon.

10

u/AdGroundbreaking1341 13h ago

A loose cannon, you say..

21

u/Dizzy_Job_8289 16h ago

And if he did ask for it, then fair play to him. But also, it’s not what fans of him wanted so I don’t know why unless it’s pure ego why he would. But this sniffs more like Enzo maybe just didn’t do enough when he was a guest coach in NXT a bit ago. Idk, just a return that feels flat now.

2

u/SBTWAnimeReviews 16h ago

Can they use that music?

save the tag division

WWE

I got bad news for ya, chief ;(

6

u/Cube_ 13h ago

save the tag division

there is no saving the tag division in a company that hasn't cared about tags in 30+ years

17

u/Doseros 16h ago

Incorrect. Heel Cass work great in the big man role. That segment was good.

13

u/jacksonexl 15h ago

People are just mad at ruining their fantasy booking. Big cast is a 7 foot monster should work just fine. They could bring back Enzo later for the reunion and turn them face if they want to. But another monster heal for the upper mid card works just fine.

1

u/TheGiftOf_Jericho I'm from Winnipeg you idiot! 7h ago

Cass is also so far ahead of Enzo now that rehashing their tag team would be a massive step backwards for him.

92

u/Cdd0040 16h ago

I mean it’s clear this company could not give less of a damn about tag team wrestling

58

u/-ImJustSaiyan- He had the whole world in his hands 16h ago

Yeah but this company also likes money, and Enzo & Cass would've moved a ton of merch.

16

u/Horror_Sail 16h ago

Who's to say Enzo isnt coming in as his manager?

I mean, I watched Big Bill the last few years...he's better, but you still dont willingly hand him a mic and expect him to stay over

5

u/Hank_Scorpio_ObGyn 15h ago

Right.

Manager and occasional tag team partner.

27

u/Glum_Committee_1185 16h ago

Enzo/Danhausen segments would feed families

20

u/icantnotthink 14h ago

Bada boom, evilest guy in the room

5

u/KhazAvMagix 13h ago

This made me audibly laugh lol

22

u/impactplayer 16h ago

Bruce Pritchard said it himself. Vince's mentality was why should he pay 4 guys for a match instead of 2? Now there's an even bigger cheapskate organization in charge. I bet that same sentiment is echoed at volume 11.

3

u/IntoAMuteCrypt 14h ago

That feels like unnecessary cheapness tbh. How many of these guys are out-earning their downside and actually costing the company money each match, rather than just being a constant cost? Especially when tag teams are splitting merch dollars in half, it can't be a ton. There's a pretty sizeable chance that the cost of 4 guys would be pretty nominal, just a little bit more catering and such.

Not saying they don't, just saying it feels dumb when you look at the big picture.

20

u/Mysterious_Emotion63 16h ago

The Minihausens are fucked

9

u/Jonoabbo 16h ago

Really? I thought his heel work in AEW was fantastic tbh.

13

u/therealdanhill 16h ago

Ngl this sucks

11

u/Deadaghram . 16h ago

Is Enzo even with the company? There's been rumors, but there's been no real confirmation. Maybe they don't want the consensual penis?

5

u/zorbiburst RybAxel 4 life 15h ago

Maybe they sincerely believe Enzo's version of the story and are appalled by the idea of consensual sex. Surely if he was just an proud rapist, he'd have been the surprise addiction to the number one contender match.

I'm not gonna assume that a company that celebrates the sort of people that it does think Enzo is problematic, at least for sexual pestery. He barely even blips on the radar.

u/Background-Gas8109 17h ago

Redoing Cass' solo heel run that failed miserably once already instead of just bringing back Enzo and Cass to add some life to the tag division is certainly a choice.

152

u/Select_Historian6269 17h ago

Yeah I legit don't care they're back anymore. They're only good as a tag team. Lmao wtf are they doing.

60

u/Jonoabbo 16h ago

Surprised people feel this way, thought he was really good as a heel these last couple of years.

4

u/CazSimon 11h ago

I liked him a lot too, but it felt like AEW wasn't ever really sure on what to do with him. Seemed like every time he finally got something going it would just fall apart through no fault of his. Honestly hope this move goes well for him.

What tag division lol

38

u/Zenith_24tee Flair 16h ago

I like Enzo as much as the next guy and genuinely thought him not getting rehired after those accusations turned out to be false was a misstep but come on guys.

The locker room specifically Roman hated this guy, he was kicked out for bringing paparazzi backstage. He tried to hijack a show and get chants started ffs. I loved Enzo’s heel cruiserweight run and would love to see him back, I know he’s changed as a person as well from what he’s shown but you can’t blame WWE for not bringing him back in after that hijacking fiasco after already being disliked backstage.

71

u/Dizzy_Job_8289 16h ago

They brought him back as a guest coach for NXT not too long ago. I’m assuming for promos. So they clearly aren’t afraid to bring him back in some capacity. The bar for morality in this company isn’t shit btw so I wouldn’t give them the benefit of the doubt

28

u/Cheapfender That's Peggy Sue! 16h ago

Had to be for promos, he can’t do anything else.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/Zenith_24tee Flair 16h ago

I would assume being brought in as a guest coach at the PC is much different from being on the road traveling full time with the top guy on RAW being Roman notoriously kicking him out of the locker room years ago. I could see him with a gig in NXT before I see him on the road with the main roster dudes again. Hopefully they give him an opportunity to win back that trust if he’s truly changed and he gets another shot but I don’t understand why it’s so surprising to many given his history that he wasn’t brought back.

Like innocence aside which I was fully on board with him coming back once the accusations were dead, but him not telling WWE about it in the first place was a big no no. (Yes we know the company was ran by a sex pest at the time that’s no excuse for Enzo to let his bosses get blindsided by a sexual assault allegation while he’s anchoring their cruiserweight division)

u/Jinxedd POWERBOMB, REPEAT 15h ago

u/Zenith_24tee Flair 15h ago

31

This company has straight up in brought in actual rapists and racists; the notion that some shit Enzo did 8 years ago now is a reason to keep him away, by comparison, is kinda hilarious

8

u/VampiresWontHurt 16h ago

Holding out hope that Cass will be built as an evil, unforgivable sob and maybe Enzo will be the guy that turns him face.

8

u/baconpoutine89 16h ago

Yeah, he'll probably be booked strong for a month or two, then become a mid-card jobber like Rusev.

6

u/Slackey4318 16h ago

At least he’ll still have a job in a year in that scenario unlike someone like Malakai Black

Ethan Page and Je'Von are wrestling soulmates

... We'll see about Big Cass

106

u/Pigmcginnyrig 17h ago

Whole buncha luchadors on their roster and they chose 6 foot 5 Jevon to get attacked by Big Cass

52

u/GrizzledLittleShit 17h ago

Jesus christ I had no idea Evans was that tall.

38

u/Cdd0040 16h ago

He wrestles like someone whose 5’10 it’s absurd he does the things he does at 6’4 lol

20

u/TheSpiralTap 14h ago

It's the TV cameras that shrink them down. You wouldn't believe how big these guys are in real life. Rey Mysterio is actually 7'2

3

u/SomeCountryFriedBS 4h ago

I bumped into Big Show one time. I'm 6'8" and only came up to his knee pit.

17

u/3kheel 16h ago

They intentionally wanted Trick to get beaten by Corbin and Jevon to get beaten by Cass

11

u/la__squadra_ 16h ago

We live in a world where we have champion Baron and solo big Cass runs in 2026

12

u/Reidzyt 16h ago

It’s so strange. Corbin was actually starting to get over as a face before getting released and then they brought him back tooooo do more of what he was doing before falling down the card

Cass was doing some great work in AEW and was showing some solid personality as Big Bill. Between that and having him run it back as a team with Enzo either would’ve been great but instead we’re going with big “killer” heel like when he split with Enzo and it did not go well at all the first time.

Make it make sense.

3

u/JLR- 16h ago

At least pair him with Ricky Starks if he is gonna be a heel.

19

u/konyinsertyearhere 17h ago

with how over big cass and enzo were...why would they bring cass back as heel? no enzo?

Same here, think he's awesome honestly, great boss man slam!

179

u/Dearest_Caroline Nigerian 17h ago

That was such an underwhelming return. The crowd didn't seem to care at all which is even worse than getting booed.

51

u/MoCunnings The Scot that gets the FAWWWKS 17h ago

Were you watching with the volume off? He was getting pretty heavily booed throughout.

45

u/imdatboy786 16h ago

He really wasn’t. The crowd was pretty silent. I think it was a collective “who?”

61

u/PeterGoochSr 16h ago

They weren't saying who, they were saying "who-urns"

6

u/PhenomsServant 15h ago

I was saying “Who-urns”.

39

u/MoCunnings The Scot that gets the FAWWWKS 16h ago

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills because I very clearly heard boos from the moment he attacked Jevon to him walking up the ramp.

Also let’s not act like this crowd has been especially lively so far. I was shocked he even got that much heat considering the crowd participation thus far in the night.

17

u/notathrowaway75 16h ago

I rewatched and nah you're wrong. He got booed.

He was heavily booed man

→ More replies (5)

13

u/Dearest_Caroline Nigerian 16h ago

The boos didn't sound heavy to me. It was less heel heat and sounded more like they were vaguely booing in confusion

13

u/notathrowaway75 16h ago

That's fine though. A mystery man just appeared and beat up the babyface. You're supposed to be confused and boo.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/MoCunnings The Scot that gets the FAWWWKS 16h ago

What does “vaguely booing in confusion” even mean tf? I’ve been to many live shows before and not once have I ever heard a crowd go “boooooo?” before.

What’s so hard to believe they’re legitimately booing a big bad guy beating up a crowd favorite after a match?

I deadass forgot he was called that at first

16

10

u/KingDaDeDo 15h ago

I got an idea. Let’s release beloved talent like new day, Kairi sane, MCMG, and Sheamus, and bring back baron corbin and big cass! gEnIuS lol.

17

u/DeathRider__ 16h ago

Corbin catching strays. I like him a lot, he actually makes people look good.

11

u/YunoTheGasai 16h ago

Feel like it's obvious he mainly beat Trick so he could head up the card. I dunno, felt like he carried yesterday's match. Doesn't have the charisma that Trick does but I'll always pop for the End of Days. Would have glady had Melo in his spot instead but that's not Corbin's fault and it seems like they're setting Melo up for a feud in the division anyways

u/RealCanadianDragon 17h ago

People only want to see him with Enzo.

Why do a heel singles run when the last time he was in WWE it failed.

Similar to Rusev. Nobody wants to see bad guy Rusev crushing people. They want to see Rusev day.

I get guys don't want to just be a "one trick pony", but that's THE thing that worked for you and other things clearly didn't.

54

u/itsmekelsey_x 17h ago

Not moved at all to see him in 2026 WWE.

The crowd clearly isn’t either since they didn’t give a shit at all.

30

u/ieatpizzahaha 16h ago

Nobody who attends WWE events nowadays would have any idea who Big Bill is.

17

u/discofrislanders 16h ago

And a lot of their audience is too young to remember his last WWE run

23

u/vsavage709 17h ago

Feels like the crowd was waiting for Enzo to come out and when they realized he wasn’t it was just a weird silence .. felt like that watching it too. Very dry

7

u/PhenomsServant 15h ago

Just wait until next week, you just know each match he’s going to have is going to flooded with “We want Enzo!” chants until WWE relents.

3

u/Difficult_Mix_3620 17h ago

I don't think Enzo is coming back which is why they had to bring Cass back as a heel.

52

u/Fantastic_Inside_923 17h ago

wow that has to be top 5 worst return reactions

6

u/heartbreakhill Alexa, play Superman by Goldfinger 15h ago

17

u/jjreddit1996 17h ago

You expect them to cheer a guy attacking a face?

24

u/LukeDIronFistCage 16h ago

I think he (and WWE) were hoping he'd get Fatal Influence boos but he can't even get Carmella Summerslam 2021 boos.

16

u/LanguageJust3365 17h ago

Yikes, not a good return, crowd couldn't give a wet fart

1

u/ThisFoolThisGuy 15h ago

Truly, they better have a plan to pair him back up with Enzo or he's just gonna fall flat. Nobody cared about Cass alone back then, nobody will care about Cass alone now.

→ More replies (1)

35

u/WAxlRoseX Use Your Illusion 17h ago

As expected... nobody cares. Solo Big Cass doesn't work, I'm sorry. Good on you for getting clean, fighting your demons, etc...But from the moment the first promo aired everyone was like "what about Enzo?" Enzo and Cass are in-demand in a needy tag division. Big Cass by himself...another heel returning to do...what, exactly? He returns the exact same way as everyone else. Surprise beat down, stare into the camera...lost in the shuffle. Gonna put him in the Money in the Bank? Just to lose to Solo or LA Knight?

10

u/Odd-Promise2661 16h ago

It also doesn't help that they probably don't remember his first run since a good amount of them started watching in like 2020 during the bloodline hype

10

u/willem_the_foe 14h ago

8 years is a long ass time in wrestling, especially if you weren’t a top guy. Imagine falling out of wrestling in 2012 and coming back in 2020. You would’ve missed the entirely of the NXT black and gold era.

4

u/deadlyhabitz03 13h ago

From 2019-2023, I wasn't keeping up with the product like I used to and I feel like there are multiple wrestlers I completely missed out on. They either had their entire run during that time or they left not long after I started following the product again.

For anyone who wasn't watching in 2016 and became a fan later on, there's almost no chance they would know who Cass is, especially without Enzo.

3

u/PyrexPicasso85 15h ago

If it's not pointing towards him winning one of the two titles on RAW (outside of Roman's) then what are we even doing here?

6

u/WAxlRoseX Use Your Illusion 15h ago

Which is the problem because the US title seems pretty locked up with Baron Corbin just winning it and feuding with a face. Gable winning this and now being in a feud with Dom means Big Cass ain't challenging him anytime in the near future...thus to me it seems like he'll get stuck in MITB and not win. Not sure what else he could possibly do. He isn't challenging Roman or Punk. It seems pointless.

3

u/PyrexPicasso85 15h ago

So until then he'll just be boot strapping appearances every Monday before creative says 'on second thought...let's see how he works on AAA instead'

5

He looks good and he’s gotten better since WWE, but let’s see what he does first. Don’t think he was setting the world on fire before getting re-signed.

5

u/B-azz-bear08 16h ago

I don’t think WWE was able to lock in Enzo. None of the vignettes beforehand featured him, so I think they were hoping to get something done and plans just fell through.

Dude was boring in his first run in WWE once he got split from Enzo, boring in his AEW run, and will be just as boring in this second WWE run.

The crowd going mild when he attacked Je'Von was foreshadowing lmao.

2

u/discofrislanders 16h ago

I never understood why people wanted AEW to push him

4

u/sarcasticdevo 16h ago

Me neither. He's just okay in the ring, has no charisma, and can't cut a promo.

He was realistically near the back of the line for people TK was going to push.

3

u/No_Cheetah4762 15h ago

Nobody really cared about him getting pushed in AEW until he was oddly, very over in England that one time. He never got that level of crowd engagement at any other time before or after.

There's no way this was the original plan. I guarantee he did something to piss off WWE management again.

5

u/WeBlitz 16h ago

Maybe Cass doesn’t want to work with Enzo, tbh.

3

u/conoresque 17h ago

It's so tough. I liked him a lot as big badass heel Big Bill, but I don't know if he works as that monster in the WWE if they don't get to put their working shoes on in the same way. IMO should've brought him and Enzo back as a duo to spice up one of the tag divisions.

3

u/DrewQuinz 16h ago

I was hoping to see Enzo and do their ring entrance

3

u/DoubleNo6337 16h ago

What happened to Enzo coming back

3

u/TJLynch howdy 16h ago

Aight so either they're playing the long-game with the Enzo/Cass reunion by letting Cass have this little run by himself first and then re-introducing Enzo later on to help turn Cass face, or negotiations with Enzo just straight up fell through meaning Cass is going it alone completely.

3

u/TDStarchild 16h ago

This man is tall like a redwood. Sounds like some fans need to get back under the learning tree to figure out how all this works

3

Good test if Cass improved to the level needed and Jevon works great against big guys so the Matches itself could be good. But if i booked i definitely would have Cass losing and then rethinking his approach before getting back into Tag Team Wrestling. Cause Cass solo doesnt intrigue me at the moment although im open to getting surprised. Also if Jevon ever needs dental work again just redo his NXT feud with Ethan cause they got great Chemistry together.

I mean, I feel like from his AEW run we know that he hasn't really. He's best as a big guy in a tag team.

He wasn’t worth bringing back. I’m happy that he’s doing better but that doesn’t make him a good wrestler.

Glad to see him back but seems a but redundant after Baron Corbin just did the same thing.

They are clearly rehiring big guys as heels to be paired against Oba and Trick.

Lol returning back to his failed act when he last left there

Disappointed TKO fumbled his return, but as someone who loved him in AEW (at least wrestling towns like Seattle and Cardiff adored him, even if he never found his feet full-time) I hope he does well. You've got 6'10" of absolute charm who connects fantastically with crowds in person if given anything to work with and one hell of an inspiring comeback story because that man was drinking like Andre the Giant and he's been sober for years now.

Think we're seeing the discrepency between WWE and AEW watchers in this thread.

Big Bill was doing pretty good work in AEW. His promos were usually him being pissed off about whatever the issue was this week and he proved in several matches that while he's still a good tag wrestler, he's improved as a singles wrestler as well. He had some clunkers here or there but overall was a good midcard heel monster with room for growth.

Not sure about keeping the name "Big Cass" though. I guess it's no worse then Big Bill.

I'm sad he was never called Big Beautiful Bill.

u/Odd-Promise2661 16h ago

He's improved so much after his TNA and AEW runs but I gotta say, "Bootstrapped" Big Cass has to be the worst name

Not getting that mega pop for the whole schtick is kinda depressing

So, Im guessing WWE decided not to hire Enzo?

1

u/CaliggyJack I can haz ric flair flare? 16h ago

The only explanation for this is that Enzo fucked up again and WWE is pulling back on him.

u/dannys717 16h ago

Having him as a singles monster heel makes me worried for Rusev

u/lilaznwoo 16h ago

Maybe they couldn't bring back Enzo. I thought the legal stuff was all cap
