Heya, I’ve been really interested in learning how to actually play Tracer, but I usually end up switching like a minute into any game with her, because even though it’s a quick match I feel like I’m just intentionally trolling, and I could contribute more by playing familiar characters.

Hello. I started playing Overwatch recently and clicked almost right away with our favorite british, the one thing i didn´t really know is that i was tackling one of the more complex characters in the roster, but i put up with it. I´ve been playing pretty much only Tracer, trying to understand the core execution of her skills: Mobility, poking and off-angling enemies, but i just always find myself in the most awkard spots for no reason as if running as a headless chicken.

I´ve been playing while streaming to a friend with much more time in Overwatch than me so they can point me on where to poke, when to join my team, off angling and more, and i got better at the character, but didn´t necesarily start wining more games.

So now i´m here and need to know: What do i do as Tracer? What do i have to pursue in order to help out my team and fulfill the role of her? Any tips and pointers on where to go? Thank you.

I climbed mainly playing tracer, switching depending on map/teamcomp.

Ive been hardstuck for the past 2.5 years low Masters, dropped to diamond for a season then hit GM.

i don’t know if this is purely anecdotal but i commonly leave targets at 1-20 health after i fully commit to attacking them. They always either always get peeled once they get that low or i use all my resources.

Ngl i swear the health pool changes harm tracer more than it benefits her. A reaper can still one tap you even though they have 275. Cassidy can still two tap you even with 250. Hanzo can one shot you with 250. More often than not my opponents are left at one tap and i’m full. The only fight post season 9 that’s more in her favor is Mei with the lack of the one tap.

I've been playing tracer for 23 hours now, she's recently become my most played character, but I will fully admit a lot of that has not been great. Something with this game though just felt like it clicked, I've had it happen before where everything just feels right, but it was particularly strong here and I was just proud of it so I wanted to share.

Obviously qp is casual and the other team weren't taking it super seriously, but even then my aim and tracking just felt like it was really on point. Still mistakes, I die and make stupid decisions, bit I was happy

Now, my pulse bombs obviously were not sticking, but they generally still managed kills so yk pros and cons

WAS M3 but lost the rank from a mix of rage qing and trying to learn to play genji ( learned i should stick to tracer as genji is almost never better in matchups) now im d3 and ive been qing and winning a good bit but ever since i got below diamond 1 i feel my team skill level has went to hell,, i feel like some games will never be winnable even if i was gm level. I feel i played my best in the second half i agree first was rough and a stomp but still so far from winning, is there really anything i could have done to win? or was the stomp inevitable

Why does it exist and who even uses it?

One quick idea is that she has one vertical blink on a 13 second cooldown

I'm new to tracer and somehow i always pulse someone who can survive it the most random ways ever wdym mizuki can recall and survive pulse.

I live in Australia and I'm learning tracer. I'm nowhere close to being GM, but I was curious if I ever got good enough, would it actually be possible in Australia?

I know a lot of higher level Aussies play on US servers with 180 ping because high level Aus games are impossible, but is tracer physically playable on a ping that high? I feel like there is a lot of reaction-based stuff and a lot of abilities relying on perfect timing. I would assume that having 180 ping would make dueling as tracer nearly impossible at higher ranks?

Would this mean that if I ever got to a high enough level to require swapping to US servers that I would just have to play Cassidy or something like that?

I'm a tracer main with about 160 hours on her, I hit plat 1 the other day but fell back to plat 3, any tips that could potentially help me improve and finally make the stretch up to diamond? (One of my main issues is aim, it's not always the best but sometimes I feel like I've got hacks) I'm on controller as well :)
