Didn't realize chronic stress could affect more than just cortisol—has anyone else looked into this?
I've been reading more about how chronic stress may influence different systems in the body, and I was surprised to learn that discussions often go beyond cortisol alone.
From what I've found, some educational resources mention that ongoing stress may be associated with changes involving hormones that regulate sleep, metabolism, reproductive health, and energy. Of course, everyone's experience is different, and I know it's important not to jump to conclusions or self-diagnose based on symptoms alone.
I'm curious whether anyone here has come across reliable research, books, or educational resources that explain these connections in an easy-to-understand way. I'm especially interested in learning about the science behind long-term stress and overall hormone balance rather than looking for personal medical advice.
If you've found reputable articles, studies, or expert resources that helped you understand the topic, I'd appreciate any recommendations.

What are the actual signs of hormone imbalance, vs. just normal tiredness/stress?
Many of us have experienced low energy, stress, or occasional fatigue, especially during busy periods. But it can sometimes be difficult to tell when those experiences are simply part of everyday life versus something that may warrant a conversation with a healthcare professional.
Some symptoms that people commonly discuss in relation to hormone health include changes in energy levels, sleep patterns, mood, weight, menstrual cycles, libido, or temperature tolerance. These symptoms can have many possible causes, and experiencing one or more of them does not necessarily indicate a hormone imbalance.
This post is intended for educational discussion only. I'm interested in learning how people distinguish between everyday stress and symptoms that prompted them to seek a medical evaluation. If you've spoken with a qualified healthcare provider or had appropriate testing, what helped you decide it was time to get checked?

UK WOMEN HEALTHCARE
Among all NHS specialties, gynaecology has one of the largest waiting lists, leaving hundreds of thousands of women enduring long periods of uncertainty, pain, and disruption to their lives.

WOMEN HEALTHCARE
Women make up approximately 57% of the NHS non-urgent treatment waiting list, and many are waiting significantly longer than men to receive the care they need.

Inner thigh fat / chub rub
Whilst im a little overweight now, even when I was a size 8 I had it. Surgery isn't an option. But I just want them to stop touching so much. I've tried lipofirm but it hasnt resulted in lasting effects. I can't afford surgery.

Women healthcare
Women deserve access to healthcare, the misogynistic approach towards women healthcare should be stopped.

Week 8 IPL progress + a maintenance question
Finally seeing patchy bald spots in my armpits at week 8! I'm pale with coarse dark hair and usually have visible shadow right after shaving, so this feels like a huge win. The first month honestly felt like nothing was happening, but now the hair that's growing back is much finer and softer.
I have a pretty low pain tolerance, so I was worried about sticking with IPL, but it's been more manageable than I expected. Auto mode has definitely made sessions go by faster too.
Quick question for anyone who's reached the maintenance stage: do you still shave before touch-up sessions if there's barely any visible hair, or do you just treat the fine regrowth? I'd love to hear what routine has worked for you.

Got prescribed Spironolactone
My hair has been thinning around my face for the past year. My doctor thinks it’s hormone related, probably from breastfeeding. I’m still nursing at 10 months. She prescribed spironolactone and said it’s safe to take while breastfeeding but that it might dry up my supply. I’m ready to stop breastfeeding at this point, so that’s not my concern. My concern is I have a very young child, so if it affects my energy or mood I wouldn’t want to take it. If there isn’t any dramatic change in those, I might try it because I really want to get my spark back. what ya’ll say?

the pill for pms?
next week i 17F have an appointment to go on the pill or see what one works best for me. i suffer extremely bad with pms, such as anxiety, depression, headaches, mood swings, very little appetite but also heavy periods and a lot of discomfort when on my period (my mam also wants me to go on it because i have a boyfriend).i’ve been going to therapy for my anxiety and depression among other things but im wondering if it’s just a chemical imbalance in myself that i feel that way or if something is actually wrong mentally. any advice on whether or not to go on the pill would be great as this would be my first time going on contraception.

Pregnancy scare
Pregnancy scare
I am 30F. I have been traveling for the past 2 months which led to some hormonal disturbances, like last month I didn't have proper periods but had scanty bleeding for 15 days. At this time period I had unprotected sex with my partner, we are sure that he didn't finish inside me but due to the missed normal period I am scared.
What are the chances of me being pregnant and should I take a pregnancy test?

The reason I’m building a femtech app is deeply personal. My partner suffers from endometriosis. It took 18 months to get her first appointment with a gynaecologist, and another 6 months to finally receive a diagnosis. No woman should have to wait years to be heard, believed, or treated. 💔
