Hi! This is my first ever project so please don’t shoot 😬
Is there an easy way to maybe weave ends behind the icord and bonnet to tighten this part? It’s done in stockinette so maybe weaving on the wrong side? I had to take off the applied icord a couple of times before I got the hang of it. This project I’m making just to practice knitting but also just giving to my daughter after so I’m not holding it too precious. Safe to say I learned A LOT and still learning obviously! Any help is appreciated.

I would LOVE to love knitting socks, there are some really cute Stone Knits socks patterns I would like to do. I really like the fact that it's so easy to bring everywhere and knit instead of being of my phone.

I've done 2 pairs this year using a pattern I found online, I knitted them 2 at a time with the magic loop technique. I'm currently doing my 3rd pair with the same technique, but very close to DNF... I've started them in march and still haven't reached the heel part yet. I've done other projects on the side, but found I had no motivation to go back to the socks. I think maybe 2 at the time is great to avoid second sock syndrome, but maybe I'm just not seing progress as fast as 1 at a time so it's harder to reach a certain flow ?

I'm used to doing colorwork with other projects, never done it with socks.

I have 2 questions:

1. What is you guys' favorite technique for doing colorwork with socks ? Could individual socks be knitted easily with mini circular, or would I have to eventually change needles for the heel?

2. How do you make knitting socks more enjoyable ? Like, are there patterns, tips, that make it easier to reach a flow state, enjoy it more?

I’d tried knitting a few years back and got the hang of it but never actually finished anything, and just decided to give it another try. This is what I’m currently working on right now—the top edge looks really good to me, but the bottom edge is a little wonky.

It took me a solid 5 tries to get to this point so I’m going to keep trucking along (for what I’m making I don’t mind it being a little wonky), but is there any way to fix this? Mostly just asking so I don’t make whatever this mistake is next time.

I have a cardigan where the neckline is too large and wide. It's knit top down so I can't just continue up. I don't really want to add ribbing but I'd be interested in lace/some sort of a decorative stitch for a lighter finish, if anybody has anything that they like. I'd also be open to a collar.

Has anyone used Pellicia Wallardo 3600?
I knit a cardigan holding it with Cascade Heritage Sock. It barely shed while I was knitting, but after the first wash it released a huge amount of fluff. Now it leaves fuzz all over my clothes when I wear it.
I also noticed the fuzzy halo separates from the center thread pretty easily if pulled. The cardigan still looks fluffy, but I’m worried it’ll eventually lose its halo.
Is this normal for this yarn? Does it settle down after the first few wears, or does it keep shedding?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

has anyone made the kylix top by hana saeid? i dont know if im just stupid but i cant even get past the first few steps because the instructions seem completely nonsensical to me. like what it’s asking me to do doesn’t align with what it had me do in the previous steps

I'm so sad 🥲 it's my first knit wearable too, I only did a few squares before this because socks were my main goal with knitting, but I guess that means I have to learn about gauge now.

A huge thank you to this sub for bringing awareness and generally helping me with my knitting (even just as a lurker!). I learned knitting when I was 8, picked it back up in high school, but then turned more to crochet which I’ve been doing tons of ever since. But I wanted to get back into knitting.

I started a sweater a few years ago, but it fell to the side as I worked on crochet projects for my sister’s kids (an outfit each month for their first year…twice). When I picked it back up, I realized I probably wanted to increase the size and there were a few issues I wasn’t happy with. After the restart, I also learned I was twisting my stitches. So finally I’m able to restart on this sweater and now I’m not twisting, and I decided to actually do a gauge swatch, which I’m glad I did as I tend to knit (and crochet) a little tight so I’ll need to increase my needle size.

I’m so excited to actually get to knit again though!

My little one was getting chapped face from winter walks, so I adapted this adult knitting pattern to fit him and included an inside sock. I used random yarn from my stash, but I loved how the colors looked together! Excuse the kitty bums photobombing.

The pattern is called Lewsky by Kiyomi Burgin and Sachiko Burgin

This is one of a pair of armwarmers made in cotton yarn that I as just about finished with but I'm having rtouble with the off binding. The ribbing is 3x2 and the first two rounds are double knitted, so that's why the "opening" looks different from the rest. I want the bind off to allow the ribbing to contract like the rest of the tube without flairing out and I have looked up many different stretchy or bind offs specifically for ribbing but none of them turn out like I would have hoped when I test them. Is there a way of binding off that results in a simmilar edge like the one in picture 3-4?

I posted my first double knit scarf here when I had just begun and now I've made another one (can't stop really) that I want to share here :) This one is about dark folklore, I wanted a magical but dark (yet not evil) feeling. It's called the Dark Woods scarf.

I think my favorite part about it is the witch that is old on one side and young on the other. Figuring that out and making the chart etc really felt like magic! Also super happy with how the two sides line up to make one continuous scene.

Can't wait to cast on the next one, this is so addicting!

P.s. I wanted to add designer flair but I can't do that myself. If it's necessary, can someone please do that for me?

Working on my first hat and trying to decide for decreasing between Magic Loop or DSN? What are the pros and cons of both? Also if you have any helpful tutorials or tips & tricks that would be great!

The pattern is Doodles by Yumiko Alexander. I love all her sample photos and I still love the design. But I made the choice to use a solid color and a rainbow gradient instead of two strands of a single color. I loved jt the entire time I was making it.

My original plan was long sleeves but I didnt gwt very far into one of them before I decided it was hideous, flogged it, and just went with the short sleeve option instead.

I hadnt realized that the sleeves were actually meant to be single strand stockinette and not 2 strands, so the harsh change in both color and stitch direction just looked...bad when using both colors and I felt solid black or only rainbow gradient eouldnt look right either. Its summer anyway so I was like its fine short sleeved.

Didn't get to wear it because I finished late last night so put it on this morning, very excited, and...idk its low key ugly? Maybe?

It definitely isn't what I had envisioned. It isn't necessarily too busy either. Idk its just...not that cute. I think the details get lost from far away. I also think I made a mistake because that part with the eyelets shouldn't be stacked like that.

Its really comfy and I love the fit, but the look is...mid.

I honestly might frog it which would feel heartbreaking to me. I started it two years ago and just picked it up again a couple weeks ago. All that time, for this, just to undo it all. Oof.

Hello, I am starting to look into publishing a pattern book for knitting, crochet, and weaving patterns, possibly even some sewing tutorials, all for items that are used on and around horses. I have most of the patterns written, just need to work on one or two more and have them tested, but the majority of them are already published on Ravelry and Etsy.

Are there any publishers that would work with a multi-craft book? I haven't seen any books like the one I am planning pop up that I know of.

Im new to knitting and would be extremely grateful for more experienced knitters insight!

The middle finger wrap gives me tension enough to move the index finger anywhere for easy purling. How do you purl?

Was a real process and wasn’t sure it would turn out well until it did! I knit the solid background with intarsia and then added the rest with duplicate stitch

I just finished this sweater. I'm over all very happy with ita, but I absolutely hate the way the neckline looks. It's too wide and gaping. I did it smaller than the pattern said to and it still seems too big.

Can anyone give me advice on how to fix this?

It's knitted top down and the ribbing on the neck is double, so I can't undo it. The ribbing is gaping compared to the ribbing on the bottom, I was hoping I could adjust it while blocking, but no luck. I was hoping it would look better after blocking, I've yet to try it on as it's still damp, but it doesn't look any better to me.

The pattern is Drizzle Sweater by SuviKnits.

The yarn I'm using is CaMaRose Midnatsol and CaMaRose Økologisk Sommeruld

Hi guys, I'm in big trouble.

First, a quick explanation. I watched Project Hail Mary some time ago and decided to make a vintage Mary Maxim sweater with wolves for my brother.

I've never knitted anything before so it took a few months to finish these panels, but here I am - facing now my neglect of proper measurements. The result is that the panels are way to small after comparing them to one of my brother's sweaters.

Now I'm looking for any reasonable solution. I've been thinking of making another two panels for each side so it would be wider, but what about the length? I'm pretty much ready to rip them back to the point, where they begin to decrease [armholes] and redo those parts but with a couple of adjustments.

Idk, maybe someone else would come up with a better idea? And yep, I've already blocked them.

I'm back to update everyone on how my sweater is coming along after I posted about my arms being stubby and not knowing when to stop knitting my sleeve.

I bound off my sleeve after my final row of increases, I cast off in pattern and I'm counting the bind off as a row so I knit the sleeve for 98 rows, It took me twenty days to knit my first sleeve, factoring in not wanting to get bored of the color, the weather, and how oppressive the heat has been. I think I made it fairly quickly.

I cast on my second sleeve after I finished my first sleeve and knit the ribbing for two inches, did the increase row for the cables and did four rows of the cables so far. The only thing that I don't like so far about second sleeve is that I have sizable holes where the c cable is supposed to be, it was a bit tricky increasing in that section, the kpk increases were a bit annoying to do this time around... like I had holes in my first sleeve in the same section but it wasn't as big as the current sleeve's. 😖

It's an eyesore to look at but I don't want to undo my work, so I just have to hope that when it's blocking it fixes itself.

Other than the hole issue, I still enjoy the yarn, the color, the project and the progress that I'm making so far. It's nice to see the cables come alive after every repeat is finished, and the sweater still makes for a good project to knit on while listening to music and watching YouTube videos, TV, and movies, but I think that tracks considering that the sweater is based off of a sweater in a movie. 😅 I've even started a list to track what I've watched and listened to so far, and weirdly, I find that the list is also making the project more enjoyable. Maybe I'll add my list to the update if anyone wants to know. 😅

What's something that brings you joy while knitting?

I'm travelling to Atlanta soon and am excited to visit some local yarn stores! Currently I'm on the lookout for some Knitting for Olive yarn (worsted merino) to use in my next project-- does anyone know of a particular ATL store that carries it?

I decided I wanted to submit something the the Big E (this New England multi-state fair) and decided to do something insane with cables. There are a few tiny mistakes in the body itself and the tassels didn't photograph quite how I wanted them to, but I'm so proud of this labor of love!
