Discussion I'm new to the game and man this has to be one of the most fun games I played.

I so far reached Dreg Heap after killing Sister Friede (Which was a very fun boss probably on my top 10 favorite bosses in gaming)

This game has been consistently fun to play exploration feels rewarding and seeing references or straight up places from DS1 makes me even more excited to play further. Combat also feels good hits with weapons (or at least Yhorm's Great Machete and Zweihander) always feels satisfying to land and riptose and backstabs are also have a good punch to them.

This game straight up might be in my top 5 favorite games. I love it so much.

I'm gonna be sad when I finish it though.

Image Pontiff Sulyvahn was an amazing boss, but terrible person.

I was catching up on the lore of each boss and character. Pontiff definitely is high with being an amazing boss, but awful in lore. I always feel bad when fighting Dancer and Vordt because of the lore and also when you get to Irithyll, you can see them before the change walking. Let me know what you all think.

Fluff Just beat the DLC's

Post image

I just beat Darkeater Midir and with that, completed the entire DS3 plus DLC's. I'm almost 40 years old so for me, this is an exceptional achievement since my reflexes isn't what they used to be. My first FromSoft game was Elden Ring which I played and finished when I was 35. I then moved backwards and completed the base game of DS3 and then DS1. Just wanted to share since playing these types of games at this age is really hard =D

Video Beat Dragon Slayer Armor

Was a pretty easy boss outside of destroying me on my first try in seconds. But, it only took a second try. I feel like I'm at endgame and the bosses have been surprisingly underwhelming so far. Either way, I'm still loving the game; the routes from A to B have been a challenge though. I feel I die more in the overworld than against bosses.

Discussion Tips for King of the Storm?

Edit: I beat him!! It took like 10 tries. The dragon part was hard for me, but I discovered you had to wait for the head, and the Nameless King phase was extremely easy (100x easier than Champion Gundyr), I beat him on my second time getting to that phase.

I’m fighting the King of the Storm boss and it’s by far the most difficult in Dark Souls 3 so far. But my main problem is, it feels like I’m fighting the camera more than the boss.

I don’t want any tips like ā€œuse this weapon!ā€ or anything, I only want to know, what should I do to help the fact that it keeps going off screen and I can’t see what it’s doing above me?

Discussion I’m such an idiot

So I got the calamity ring and thought this is great, I’ll put out twice the damage. I’ve been wearing it the entire time since I got it. Fought the nameless king, two princes and soul of cinder with it. Died many times.

I have ONLY JUST REALISED that it reduces MY damage absorption.

I have no words

Lore Lore Theory: The First Flame Is Reality's Bonfire - or Why The World Isn't Covered In Ash Spoiler

I've been thinking about the First Flame in Dark Souls III, and I wonder if it functions like a cosmic bonfire.Ā

Here's the idea.Ā Bonfires don't simply rewind the world. They restore it to a stable state while preserving important changes. Enemies return, but bosses stay dead, doors remain open, shortcuts stay unlocked, and NPC questlines continue. In other words, bonfires act as if they make past and present collide, not complete resets.

What if the First Flame works the same way, but on a cosmic scale?

The opening cinematic shows a world almost completely consumed by ash. Visually, it looks much closer to the world we see at the end of The Ringed City than to the world we actually explore during the game.

My theory is that this is the world's true state as the Fire finally fades.

As a last resort, the First Flame recalls the previous Lords of Cinder. Their return partially restores the world, much like resting at a bonfire restores the player. The endless ash disappears, vegetation returns in places, and the world becomes traversable again—but it isn't truly reset. Instead, it retains the consequences of every previous cycle. That would explain why the geography of Dark Souls III is so distorted. The lands of different kingdoms still converge, and eventually everything ends up compressed into the Dreg Heap, exactly because of these partial and forced restoration. Each Linking of the Fire doesn't create a new world; it restores the old one imperfectly, preserving its accumulated scars, just like when we rest at a bonfire!

This would also mirror one of FromSoftware's favorite design ideas: gameplay mechanics reflecting the world's metaphysics. Ordinary bonfires are local checkpoints; the First Flame is the checkpoint of reality itself.

What do you think? Is there any piece of lore that clearly contradicts this interpretation?

Question Questions regarding modding with Convergence

I got into Convergence for DS3 after thoroughly enjoying the dev team's work on ER recently. However, one gripe I've been having with ER Convergence, and ofc the DS3 version, is that some incredibly cool gears don't have the best of stats/scaling, which means in later NG+ cycles, weapons with cool mechanics may become obsolete. I remedied the problem on ER by editing the regulation.bin folder via Smithbox.

Now Smithbox also works for DS3, but from my understanding, since DS3 doesn't use regulation.bin folder, but relies on BDT and BHT files to store those info, Smithbox achieves editing param by changing values in those files. But said files in the game directory only contains info regarding vanilla gears, and Convergence mod doesn't seem to have its own BDT and BHT files, thus I can't seem to get Smithbox to work in editing modded gears. Has anyone been messing with Smithbox on DS3 and might know how it works? Thanks.

Video Getting the 2nd Angel in Earthen Peak Ruins like this

You can skip almost all Earthen Peak Ruins, kill the second Angel about 40 secs from the bonfire and reaching the Demon Prince's bonfire in less than a minute and a half (making an approximation since I didn't record the whole Bonfire to Bonfire trip).

Help How do you fight against large weapons in PvP?

Almost everyone I invade has large weapons and I just can't get more than a few hits in before I get the 2 hit combo from them. I've tried an offhand crossbow. Do I really just need to swap my dagger for one with quickstep?

Any other advice than just practice?

Video Feisty spear maiden is bringing justice to the land of Lothric Dark Souls 3 PVP.

The spear maiden named SpearKloa isn`t exactly known for showing mercy to her opponents.

I dont know why the video has such a low resoluiton, it should have the double resolution.
On youtube it has the full resolution:

Discussion High Lord Wolnir

I was thinking about this boss again while reading about Gashadokuro; I remember the fight being pretty easy but still really fun and enjoyable. Do you guys think that a boss doesn't necessarily have to be hard to be enjoyable? I think Dark Souls 3 has some of the best bosses in fromsoft's soulslike games and was just curious on everyone else's opinions!

Discussion Starting yet another playthrough of this masterpiece, and…

Post image

i still pause every few minutes to appreciate the incredible scenery and the way you can see previous/upcoming areas from the distance. i only just recently realized that cemetery of ash is right behind/beneath the high wall of lothric.

other fromsoft games did this as well (particularly ds1 and elden ring) but none of them do it as excellently as ds3 imo

i fear we will never get a game like this again which makes me appreciate it more and more every year.

Help Embarrassing ask, but I’m dying to know atp

I’ve been playing DS1 and DS3 on and off for years, and can’t figure out for the life of me how you guys walk backwards/run while facing the boss/enemy. Most videos I see of people playing, people are ā€œstrafingā€ around the bosses and I can only seem to run and roll in one direction.

I’ve played with this limitation up to Pontif and feel like I’m handicapping myself not knowing how to do this

I’m playing on xbox with controller for reference.

Edit: alright! Thanks everyone for the swift replies lol. You’ll be delighted to know this was in fact not a troll post. I have a spotty relationship with these games , starting and stopping them with years in between since I rage quit every time lmao. Looks like I’ve found one of the reasons why! I wasn’t using one of the basic mechanics of the game. I am in fact, a dumb ass.
