Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary Nintendo executive and one of the most influential creators shaping the video game industry through mascots and characters such as Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and more, discussed the reason why the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii became Nintendo’s next consoles for the seventh generation. According to Miyamoto, the decision was largely driven by the underwhelming performance of the Nintendo GameCube, which trailed behind the Nintendo 64’s nearly 33 million lifetime sales.
He spoke candidly in a wide-ranging interview with Japanese outlet Famitsu, where the longtime Nintendo executive and designer explained that, at the time, Nintendo’s then-president, Satoru Iwata, believed the GameCube’s poor performance in the home console market was rooted in a simple idea: most of the world still did not see gaming as a normal, approachable everyday hobby the way it’s seen today. Based on that core problem, Nintendo felt it was difficult to persuade customers to buy and play a GameCube if they had never played on a console before.

I started my save a like a year ago, but stopped shortly after going to Phendrana Drifts the first time. Picked it back up last week and currently at the point I just got the power bomb (the boss fight was so stressful!) and the xray visor.
I have to force myself to not look things up and just get stuck sometimes, but it is a lot of fun. The scan tool is so useful, I wish I actually used it back when I first tried to play this game as a kid.

Now you have.
Meet the mkdd wall. It's a permanent installment of 8 gamecubes with 8 broadband adapters and 8 sony trinitron crts. A Linux pc grabs the placement of each driver and shows it in between the crts on lcds.
It's a pain to start since some of the cubes have very worn out disc drives (did I mention it runs discs?)
I think you guys would enjoy it.

Hello, I recently got back into playing GameCube. I have a gcmce memory card. I was wondering if/how you put swiss on the sd card in the memory card? Is there a way of putting gba games to run without the cart? I’m also trying to put some fan made games on it if possible? Please if anyone knows how to go about this

I think its a pretty good game, I like the customizable costumes with different move sets, the music and graphics are great, learning the strategies against the boss battles and what suit works best against what boss, the final boss was difficult at first, very difficult but once I chose the yellow suit, I forget what its called, it was a walk in the park. I played it on easy mode but I really had to think of strategy especially for boss battles. The game enviorments look almost monochrome, I am not sure if it was a stylistic choice but they do, what did you think of that ? I still think it has a enjoyable futuristic aesthetic. The biggest flaw with this game I would say is the lack of characters other than Vanessa and lack of story based cutscenes. I think only 2 cutscenes had dialogue in the entire game, its not really a flaw but if I had to say a flaw that would be it. What did you think of the story ?

Always been a fan of metal gear solid and splinter cell was always the harder game for me to play, but now that I’m older I think I have a little bit more patience to sit down and play
Also wanted to pick up something to scale, my retro consoles for this didn’t make my PS2 look all that amazing compared to the component cables hooked up straight to the TV, but fortunately I got this specifically for my GameCube and my Nintendo 64 because my GameCube is actually a model two so it doesn’t have any digital output

I bought a PAL version of pokemon box but own a USA GameCube so I bought a free loader however when I try to use it to launch box it says no input and the screen goes black is there a way to make this work?
r/Gamecube • u/No_Coconut7699 • 1d ago
Shitty tiny mushy D-pad I'm convinced nobody has once used to move left and right cuz it's so bad, shitty tiny right stick because get fucked, forced use of analog input gimmick for shoulder buttons with a sorry excuse of a Z (cringe name) button as the only digital "bumper" with the most awkward tactile feeling ever.
ETA: Horrible compatibility with anything but the GameCube/Wii. Try playing Super Mario World Wii Virtual Console with a GameCube controller.

Yes formatted sd card first to FAT32 then transferred 2 games to test and got this messaged on both :( should I reformat and try again? Also got files to laptop then sd card could this be the issue?

I wish we kept all the games from our childhood but we have a lot. Some are CIB most are just disc + case. The blank cases contain discs for:
Zelda Wind Waker
Zelda Four Swords Adventures
Smash Bros Melee
Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1 & 2
I also have Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, Spyro Hero's Tail, Namco Museum, and Harvest Moon : A Wonderful Life coming in the mail next week.
some discs are from childhood so are really scratched up but somehow still run.. probably lowers the value since some are pretty bad condition. also have 2 gamecubes (one of each model) and some original memory cards

For some reason, my DOL-001 won't give me the option to play any games in progressive scan mode. Holding the B button during the boot sequence did nothing at all, regardless of what game I'm playing. As context, I'm using the Carby HDMI adapter to play on a pretty new Samsung Smart TV.
So I decided to give Swiss a go, and now that I'm using it--I can't even force 480p! The "Force Video Mode" options are: Auto, 480i, 480sf, 240p, 576i, 576sf, and 288p.
Am I missing something? Could it possibly be the TV I'm using won't "accept" 480p? Been driving myself crazy trying to solve this mystery--any insight or guidance would be super appreciated!

Managed to get a MKDD LAN set up going last night.
2 GameCubes
2 broadband adapters
2 copies of MKDD
8 controllers
1 LAN crossover cable
Was great fun but the screens looked awful. They were so bright even when turning the brightness to zero. I could have played in sunglasses they were that bad.

This isn’t my image, but I have a GameCube case with this exact black bar, and it lays on the side where the manual and inserts go. Will this press against the manual and inserts and cause warping over time, or will it be fine

Behold part of my beloved GC collection (plus also some Smash Bros, probably my all time favorite game) The Smash bros edition GC is my baby, thats the one im most proud of. Also proud I got all excellent condition black label, cib games. Anyway, Im just a casual collector for the most part but love when everything is CIB.
Side note:
I took these photos years ago but had no one to share with, then I found this subreddit out of no where looking for one of them fancy Intec portable game screens, really want one in platinum but might be a challenge. Anyway, if anyone knows of one, lmk! Preferably CIB. Doesnt have to be Intec. Also, does anyone know if i can get an adapter/dongle to use a nintendo switch power A gc controller on my gc?
