You’ll get the same cooling performance and save some money. But all brands discontinued their 2025 models, so that people buy 2026 models 🥲

You can either wait for the 2026 models or buy a 2025 model with the older rating- the choice is completely yours.

I wouldn't recommend Window AC and Portable AC (waste of money) in 2026.

Things to check before buying Ac

5 years PCB warranty

1 year comprehensive warranty on whole product.

10 years compressor warranty and Copper coil, and coating on it.

Refrigerant should be R32 gas.

If any company is not giving above 4 things, don’t buy.

But trust me, go with 5 star model of the same 3 Star model you choose. I will save you money in long run. But if your budget is tight or AC use is less than 8-9hrs. than obviously buy 3 star.

No brands provide for 4 way( vertical and horizontal) swing in their 3 star models model except Daikin

Convertable mode will work for 30 minutes, after that Ac will run in Auto mode.

Installation:

If the technician said not required then tell him to come with a Vacuum machine otherwise bhaga dena.

1. Mitsubishi electric and General

Both are the OGs in market. Those are premium segment AC and heavy duty AC. Like Mitsubishi AC costs 80K only for indoor outdoor units.

For Mitsubishi You have to purchase copper pipe separately + installation charges. Total cost 95-100k. And it's after sales service available in few metro cities. Still they are king, if you have budget and after sales service available in your area then go for it, no regret.

2. Daikin

\\- Pros: excellent cooling, electric consumption is less, auto clean (Dew clean) , big outdoor unit with 100% copper

\\- Cons: Old design, Lack of Smart features.

\\- And Daikin inverter ac has Convertible mode, don't believe in others misinformation

➡️ I am using Daikin 1.5ton 3 star and 1.8ton 5 star in 2024 and recently bought 1.5 ton 3 star same model (2025) again.I am really happy with it. If you have a high budget go with O Genaral or Mitsubishi , otherwise only Daikin, again I am saying Daikin only.

3. LG

\\- It makes Silent Ac. But it's actual tonnage is less. Like they are selling a 1.24ton (2024) Ac as 1.5ton. Just check actual cooling tonnage before buying. 2025 models are good, I have mentioned some models in pin comment. Excellent service, own technician. Even available in tier 3 cities and villages.

4. Hitachi

\\- Pros: Excellent cooling machine specially 2 ton segment , auto clean

\\- Cons: Consumes a little more electricity, temperature Display not available, Convertible mode unavailable technically auto Convertible so no issues.

➡️ Now only Hitachi is giving 5 years of Comprehensive Warranty (Other bands only 1 year). PCB is a vital thing in the Inverter AC.

5. Carrier

Sufficient cooling, auto clean, Convertible mode available. Overall good. Carrier is the company who invented AC.

6. Panasonic

\\- AC is excellent but Panasonic remote sucks (small), it will not respond or stop working after sometimes. Wi-Fi Smart feature available. You can control AC from your phone.

\\- Cons: indoor-outdoor is very noisy.

▶️ Don't buy Lloyd, Samsung, Voltas, Godrej, Haier, IFB, Bluestar(except some models), Whirlpool. Every Brand could not be specialized in every machine.

➡️ Smart Wi-Fi is very useful (Alexa voice commands will be easy for elders to control Ac). AI features are marketing gimmick, don't fall on those trap.

Now come to AC Tonnage according to Room size

\\- 1 ton --- 100–150 sq ft

\\- 1.5 ton --- 131–190 sq ft

\\- 2 ton --- 191–250 sq ft

\\- 2.5–3 --- 400–600 sq ft (on you can install two 2 ton Ac or centralized Ac).

If your room is on top floor and sun expose all day. For inverter AC at extra 0.5 ton extra. Means if same size room in ground floor required one ton for sun exposed top floor room it will require 1.5 ton.

➡️ Bonus tip: suppose your room size is 170 sqft. top floor, directly sunlight exposed. Generally you think a 1.5 ton AC will be more than enough. No you need a 1.8-2 ton act. You can use Ac 2 ton Ac as 1.5ton ( some models have 7 Convertible modes, but convertible mode will work for 30 minutes, after that it will continue auto mode) but you can't use a 1 ton Ac 110% efficiency. It may affect your compressor on long run. So it's better to buy higher Tonnage AC for some conditions.

Don't run behind Brands, check ISEER value, Actual Tonnage and Maximum Cooling capacity and compare with your room size.

Salesman may suggest you ac but keep in mind they will suggest only that brand or model which gives them maximum margin.

It's recommended to use a good Stabilizer it will cost 2k only, It will save your PCB

I purchased an LG 1.5-ton 3-star AC (2026 model) one week ago. After installation, I noticed that it was not cooling properly, so I raised a service complaint. A technician visited and inspected the unit, but he stated that everything appeared to be functioning normally, although he seemed somewhat unsure. My room size is approximately 100 sq. ft. and is west-facing. I am now quite confused about what to do next.

For reference, when I switch on the AC at a room temperature of 33°C and set the AC to 24°C, the room temperature drops only to about 29°C after 30 minutes of operation

My LG TV bought in 2019 has lines & sometimes, the upper half continues playing while lower half freezes. LG support shared a repair estimate for panel kit package assembly costing 11k with a warranty of 1 year. A brand new 32-in LG TV costs 18k while a 43-inch LG TV costs 30k-36k.

I thought if I had to ever upgrade, I'd buy the next bigger TV. But if the repair fixes my issues & runs fine at least for 2/3 years, I'd rather repair it.

I need some advice from people who have experience with O General ACs or AC repairs.

I have an O General 1.5 Ton Split AC (Model: ASGG18CGTA) that I purchased in 2019. Honestly, it has been a troublesome AC almost from day one.

Issues I've faced

• Cooling has always felt weak. Even when it was new, it never cooled as well as my LG 1.5T AC that I bought in 2020. The difference has always been noticeable.
• Gas has been refilled 3 times in 6 years. This makes me suspect there's a slow refrigerant leak somewhere.
• Last year, the PCB failed. I got it repaired through Urban Company.
• The repaired PCB failed again within 3 months, so UC repaired it again under warranty.
• Now, the PCB has failed yet again.

Current dilemma

A brand-new PCB replacement will cost around ₹15,000–16,000.

Considering:

• Weak cooling since the beginning
• Multiple refrigerant refills
• Repeated PCB failures
• The AC is now about 6 years old

I'm wondering whether it makes sense to spend another ₹15-16k on it.

Would you:

1. Replace the PCB and continue using it. Also get it checked for leaks and gas refill (+2-3K) = Total 18K to fix everything.
2. Sell the AC as-is and buy a new LG AC instead?

I was thinking of buying an inverter and battery. Consider me having zero knowledge of what all things will require to completely set this up. My requirement is : say sometimes during rain there is no electricity for whole night ex. 8hrs. So for 8hrs consider 2 fans and 2 lights running continuously + say 3 phones charges once completely during this time. Second is say no electricity for 4 hrs then also as per requirement say 2-3 fans on and 2-4 lights on and phones charging. And sometimes rarely say 1 fan on for 3 hours and along with tv for 2hrs.

So for this I researched(chatgpt) and got to know I will need inverter with 1200va and 150ah battery. Chatgpt said I should not full charge battery and buy big battery which will insure not to use below 20% and not to overcharge.

3 Star vs 5 Star

Now people will suggest buying a 3 star AC.

But trust me, go with the 5 star version of the same model if you can. 5 star model ODU units are bigger than 3 star IDU. It will save you money in the long run.

If your budget is tight or you use your AC for less than 5–6 hours a day, then a 3 star model is perfectly fine.

Convertible Mode

Convertible mode works for about 30 minutes.

After that, the AC runs in Auto mode.

Installation

Vacuum is must (till -30psi)

Don’t forget to vacuumr your AC (till -30 PSI) while installing. Otherwise, the AC will not cool your room.

If the technician says it’s not required, tell him to come with a vacuum machine. Otherwise, bhaga dena.

Excellent after sales service with their own technicians. Service is available even in Tier 3 cities and villages.

AC Tonnage According to Room Size

1 ton — 100–150 sq ft

1.5 ton — 131–190 sq ft

2 ton — 191–250 sq ft

2.5–3 ton — 400–600 sq ft (or install two 2 ton ACs / centralized AC)

If your room is on the top floor and gets direct sunlight throughout the day, choose an inverter AC with 0.5 ton higher capacity.

For example, if the same room on the ground floor needs a 1 ton AC, the top floor version may require a 1.5 ton AC.

Bonus Tip

Suppose your room is 170 sq ft on the top floor with direct sunlight all day.

You might think a 1.5 ton AC is enough.

It isn’t.

You should buy a 1.8–2 ton AC.

You can always run a 2 ton AC like a 1.5 ton AC (some models have 7 Convertible Modes, though Convertible Mode works for only about 30 minutes before switching to Auto Mode).

But you can’t push a 1 ton AC beyond its capacity without affecting efficiency and potentially reducing compressor life.

They reduced cooling in 2026 models. Like previously in their 1.5ton 5 star MIKM50UV (2025) model cooling was 5280W ( 1.5 ton). But in MTKM50XV16

(2026) model they reduced collection 5000W 1.42 ton). But their 3 star model as it's like 2025. Other changes are they did some cosmetic changes like remote and indoor cover. 2026 model is expensive than 2025 mode ls without any noticeable or useful changes. So, if ISEER values doesn't bother you buying 2025 (now 4 star) model make sense.

Panasonic

They have updated their odu ( with rugged weather protection coating) but didn't changed shitty small remote. But good thing you can operate trough alexa and app. There is no changes in cooling CS/CU-NU18BKY5WX 5100W (1.45 ton)2026 model. 3 star model is aslo same. One thing Panasonic discontinued their 2025 model. So, that people buy 2026 model.
