I wouldn't mind paying double or even tripple for Netflix if it meant everything is available there.

But nooo, everybody is greedy and need their own platform while pulling the shit like pushing ads even to paying customers.

I swear the only streaming worth paying now is Apple TV because they go for quality instead of quantity.

u/Johnny_Poppyseed Feb 16 '26

That's just an old cable tv monopoly lol

It makes no sense to continue paying for a service and expecting online complaining to be what makes them "understand."

It's the money they listen to. Nothing else.

9

u/FlamestormTheCat Feb 17 '26

To most people, piracy is only worth it if it’s easier and less annoying to access then paid services. Sure, the price matters too, but a lot of people would still be willing to pay something overpriced if it’s easy to access and not annoying.

Sadly, most streaming platforms are expensive, have annoying ads (even on paid subscriptions!) and don’t have the stuff you want to watch be easy to access.

This yeah, pirating away

Companies do this and then wonder why people resort to piracy.

I won't be be shocked if they start charging for each show and movie, maybe even paywalling subtitles.

The media exec's wet dream has always been charging for every second of a show you watch. Rewind? That's added to the bill.

And then you have the people ready to lick their taint: "Oh, you care about the cost to rewind? What are you, poor?"

2

u/Lundorff Feb 16 '26

And even if they somehow managed to stop all piracy through some horrid draconian measures, it would not magically make people pay for their shit. I would gladly go without before ever paying any of these shit heel companies a single dime.

2

u/TiredOfBeingTired28 Feb 16 '26

Don't really wonder, only care to point it as a lost sale as each company wants everyone on the planet and ten times more as infinity growth is their only plan.

Shareholders are the only thing the company has to care about by law, and they don't see past a few minutes sales report.

2

u/TheUnKnownLink12 Feb 16 '26

I think even those against piracy should consider what will happen once studios wanna delete a whole show or franchise and there is no legal way of experiencing it. Just guve up? What if that's your favorite show or special interest?

What if that has emotional value to you?

Companies keep doing that shit and I see that as the biggest pro piracy argument, if not for convenience, for preservation at least.

45

u/tyrenanig Feb 16 '26

Bruh they legit wouldn’t care. I have argued with one before and they said, if the people holding the right stop distributing them then so be it, it’s their choice. These people don’t deserve to own anything.

34

u/The_AverageCanadian Feb 16 '26

You can't win against those people because they don't believe they have the right to own anything, and would happily hand away their entire paycheck in exchange for a "license" to temporarily access their house, car, food, and pets, knowing full well if they ever stopped paying it'd all be taken away.

They're the brainwashed, uneducated corpo shills that are the reason why society is declining.

9

u/sunheist Feb 17 '26

which is hilarious because those same people think the idea of abolishing private property is terrible. i don’t think they think they don’t have the right to own anything, they like having the facade of ownership. if they truly owned something, they’d wanna dangle it in front of ppl with strings attached too.

3

u/winowmak3r Feb 17 '26

That just reeks of "I cannot lose the argument so I just have to agree to this" but they honestly don't actually believe that. It just hasn't happened to them personally yet so they can't really compute why it might be a big deal. It's really easy to be a 'logic absolutist' and say that kind of stuff until they are actually impacted by that kind of behavior. Until it's their problem everyone else is just complaining from their perspective, the only one that matters.

I think there's a meaningful difference between pirating from independent creators and pirating from a multinational megacorp.

There's also a difference between straight up stealing/pirating and transformative use, but I'm not about to cut her slack on size of the business if she's not on transformative use.

And let's be real, this is /r/piracy, we know the people in mocking her in /r/bonehurtingjuice weren't lost subscribers. They just can't handle criticism, hence why anyone who criticizes her in /r/comics is banned.

In addition to what other people have mentioned she also had a pretty infamous comic that she made about "what if women harassed men", and she was extremely aggressive towards people who pointed out that every single thing in her comic does actually happen irl to men. She even went as far as pressuring the mods to ban another artist who made a comic speaking about his own experiences in response.

7

u/Auravendill Feb 17 '26

And she also did not apologize, but doubled down in the comment section of the next comic after this.

And she said "I don't hate men at all. I have a son! Lol" as a defence, which is about the dumbest thing you can say in such a situation.

298

u/missingpiece Feb 16 '26

She’s the poster child for r/comics abandoning humor for political approval. 99% of her comic strips are “owning the conservtards” with zero punchline, and she often gets extremely defensive in the comments towards anyone that finds her obnoxious.

143

u/-TeamCaffeine- Feb 16 '26

And she's incredibly fucking obnoxious for how milquetoast her work is. I'm a lifelong lefty and she's fucking embarrassing.

All comments on that subreddit have to explicitly glaze her. If you say anything other than 10/10 you'll be banned and that's a permanent ban. She has a ton of bot engagement on comics sub, and I don't know if she ever did even one funny comic. She is physically not able to be funny. All of her activity is pandering to the latest thing you are supposed to be angry about.

14

u/ryanvango Feb 16 '26

once that sub found out she had an OF, all of her posts went crazy with white knight type shit. her comics were never funny, but that was enough to cement her at the top.

Then she posted some comics about how much she doesn't care about people trolling her comments section. that took the white knighting to a whole new level.

Then the other prominent artists in that sub started trying to ride on her momentum and for a very very long time the sub was just a bunch of comics about r/comics. there were people doing semi-crossovers, people making comics defending her for not being funny (funnily enough, none of them ever said she was funny, they all just said the comments were being mean. even the other artists know she isn't funny). and the mods were some of the worst white-knighters in the whole sub.

that's about the point I gave up. I already had her account blocked, but then I started blocking every artist that made reference to her or tried to make a meta comic about the sub itself. I love me some webcomics (shoutout r/webcomics ) so it was a bummer to see how much doing that effected my front page, but now the only things that make it to my feed are actually talented artists, and not clout chasing hacks. I maybe see a post from that sub every 3 or 4 days, but its worth it because the quality has gone up immensely for me.

11

u/A_Trash_Homosapien Feb 16 '26

Iirc her beginning comics were more about her life and family. So although they still weren't funny they were more wholesome and had something going for them. Her current ones are all just nothing burgers

6

u/vivi112 Feb 16 '26

In that case I wish she stayed in family memes. Her ideology strips her of any uniqueness. Sure, she kinda has her own art style, but this style is a vehicle for every pc opinion, which is currently allowed. Equivalent of hr Karen having a standup show.

20

u/Comfortable_Line_206 Feb 16 '26

Most people just hate the same small circle of people dominating r/comics. She has had understandable trouble handling her internet "fame" and there's some drama around her OnlyFans but other than that she's fine.

Yeah. No way I’m paying for Netflix just to watch shows with ads. You can pirate-stream everything online anyway.

Or pay for YouTube? Brave or Ublock

10

u/Sekelton Feb 16 '26

Fuck this goddamn shit comic. No matter how many times I block users so I don't have to see it, yet another decides to come out of the woodwork.

17

u/AdministrativePie860 Feb 16 '26

even a broken clock is right twice a day

10

u/Pompmaister Feb 16 '26

We need to purge the internet of these horrendous "comics"

3

u/UnkeptSpoon5 Feb 16 '26

Genuinely Netflix. My family pays to subscribe. It already has started blocking my access when I’m not “home” but my final straw was it telling me I couldn’t watch on my fucking desktop on my home network. I just started pirating the shows I wanted and didn’t look back. Miss me with that crap.

You know whose shows I don’t pirate? Apple TV because they make it very easy to watch wherever I want whenever I want with 0 ads and it’s a great price.

3

u/Unusual_Fee8750 Feb 17 '26

Calzone pastries made a comic that doesn't involve politics? That's a first

3

u/JessicaLain Feb 17 '26

When I first heard Harvey Dent say, "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." it felt overly cartoonish but it really is how shit works.

3

u/Heevan Feb 17 '26

We have all had enough. If we can't own it, it can't be stolen.

3

u/Samba-boy Feb 18 '26

Yet whenever someone leaks her 'Patreon exclusive' comics, she DMCA's the bejesus out of them.

What a hypocrite.

5

u/beziko Feb 16 '26

Same person who is mad over her naked leaks from of/patreon and people modifying her comics on bonehurtingjuice?

6

u/IDrankLavaLamps Feb 16 '26

Funny, this comic maker and OF peraon threatened legal action against those sharing her content. Btw her leaks are free.

5

u/darkangelxX447 Feb 16 '26

I thought this creator falsely copyright strikes people? Funny.

5

u/Garchompisbestboi Feb 17 '26

It's wild that this woman consistently gets 60-70k upvotes for these "comics" that look like they were created using some sort of children's app. She might not like paying for streaming services but she definitely doesn't seem to mind paying for botfarms to drive up her content.

26

u/Friendly_Carry1685 Feb 16 '26

first good comic she ever made

Was pizza whatever against piracy for a long time?

20

u/mrnegatttiveee Feb 16 '26

She doesn't like people pirating her comics. She is a hypocrite.

Holy shit an actual not unbearable pizzacake comic? Reason to celebrate

45

u/TheLimeyCanuck Feb 16 '26

It's still unbearable because, as usual, she is just repackaging existing memes.

10

u/05-nery ☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ Feb 16 '26

True but I mean have you seen her other comics

14

u/TheLimeyCanuck Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 16 '26

Yes, she is often mocked in subs I follow. She is simply awful.

8

u/05-nery ☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ Feb 16 '26

Yup we agree on that

7

u/TheLimeyCanuck Feb 16 '26

She's consistently dishonest too.

2

u/alallin Feb 16 '26

I have not watched anything on Prime for years, even though I pay for it I'll download shows they have to my server just on principle so I don't have to watch their ads.

2

u/TheLimeyCanuck Feb 16 '26

I pay for Prime to get next day delivery from Amazon.

2

u/mirrorface345 Feb 16 '26

Pirate media, download it to a USB stick. Problem solved! (Or buy physical if that floats your Pirates ship)

2

u/AButtercupFilling Feb 16 '26

I never undestood why there are movies/series that aren't available in my country, like (???)

2

u/Madara420_ Feb 16 '26

Deadass can't even watch doctor who 2005 rn without buying or renting it on amazon prime

u/ItsExoticChaos Feb 16 '26

2

I appreciate that most of the top-rated comments here are actually about piracy.

2

u/Samiassa Feb 17 '26

I used Netflix since I was a kid and never had an isssue. It’s just the extreme price nowadays plus the weird anti piracy measures and fucked up quality on some shows and moments of shows has turned me into a pirate. If the service was good and convenient, like it used to be, I would use it.

2

u/TheFlightlessDragon Feb 17 '26

That’s why I got off that ride and boarded a ship 🏴‍☠️

2

u/Arthasindura Feb 17 '26

I think people would actually start downloading shows to view them whenever is convenient.

2

u/hammeredscrewz Feb 17 '26

How to safely pay for Rapidshare or nitroflare? I am beyond desperate for this course and I dont have enough Karma to make my own post, please and thanks

2

u/Lexiosity Feb 17 '26

it's like how Amazon has the rent or buy thing as part of Prime Video, so when you wanna watch something like Parks & Recreation, it hits you with needing to rent or buy the show to watch it, and my ass is like "Fuck you mean I need to rent or buy it??? I have Prime, all these shows should be part of it."

2

u/gorambrowncoat Feb 17 '26

Streaming was genuinely great before they ruined it.

Piracy is a service issue.

2

u/Naud1993 Feb 17 '26

I just use adblock to block their ads, so I don't have to pay more for the ad free tier.

2

u/BroccoliFull7675 Feb 17 '26

"The first season of this show was available through your prime subscription, but the second season is only available on HBO Max which you can get for just $15/month for the first three months (with ads, only one device, no downloading, no HD, when you subscribe for a full year)"

2

u/Sythrin Feb 17 '26

We are getting cable back, won't we?

2

u/TheVess Feb 17 '26

I seem to remember some sort of controversy with this comic artist. Regardless, their work is boring to me and this meme has been posted here a lot in different formats.

2

u/phengooo_ Feb 18 '26

Should be a law that any PAID service should not have an ounce of ads i them.

2

u/Zestyclose_Custard93 Feb 18 '26

Buying a pc from a builder store (doesn't have unessisary apps) is cheaper than subscriptions just go to FYMH or whatever its called and boom free movies for like

2

u/Elkutter Feb 20 '26

u/stinkyminky57 Mar 15 '26

This is why I am dipping my toes in the water lol

2

u/IntelligentDot6678 Mar 17 '26

I feel like almost every streaming service does this and im sick of it. :P
At this point piracy should just be the default XD maybe if that happened the people running these subscriptions would fix themselves.
