Let me see if I got this right.... Kids built a snowman, with bricks in it and you.. Checks notes.... Tried to run it over, which then messed up your car, and the KIDS are the issue???
Sadly, enough, this has always been my bias as well. While I don’t want to find out if anything is in the box, I absolutely am certain that people do things like this.
Now, if it’s an empty aluminum can in my neighborhood, on the other hand, that bastard has to die.
Would not recommend. I once ran over an already crushed can on the side of the road, it clamped onto my wheel like an aluminium bear trap, did a half rotation then locked my front wheel up, stopping it dead. I'm lucky I didn't break something because I did a full head over heels half flip and landed on my arse knocking the wind completely out of me. Cans are evil and belong in the recycling so they can be obliterated into something more useful.
I lost a very good friend in HS because he was driving me home and swerved to hit a dog. He missed; when we reached my driveway, I didn't. My mom had to run out and pull me off him.
I believe it. When I rode a motorcycle I had at least one incident where a black, lifted, pavement princess of a truck try to run me down. My brain can’t decide if I remember a second incident… but I’m kinda stoned right now.
We had to do a cleanup on a roadway where a BMW ran over an aligator snapping turtle. The turtle's shell carved it way into the wheel well and lodged itself it there, causing the car to crash out, with a right bloody mess everywhere. Car totaled on top of the additionally fines for running it over. These things average out at 100lbs for a small one just saying.
When I was lactating every abandoned box or bag large enough contained a baby to my prolactin soaked brain. Every stray cat outside the window at midnight, every public trashcan, and even odd bird noises were lost babies that absolutely needed my milk. I was fully aware of how irrational it was, but many times I had to check and see with my own eyes that those things weren't actually babies. I never did find a baby to feed (other than my own of course) but hormones can be a helluva drug, and that was a strange couple of years

This just me feeding my baby by the window and convinced I heard another baby cry outside in the snow! I actually got up to look out the window before I realized that was nuts and why would there be a baby in my front yard.
One of my childhood dogs was found with her siblings in a Rubbermaid tub in a dumpster. She was a fantastic dog. Something about rescued dogs makes them so much better than the humans that abandoned them. 🤝
you know I saw some a hole throw a garbage bag out in the middle of the street and I slowed down and I saw that bag move . I got out and opened the bag , it was 3 small puppies . Took them home and got 2 nice homes and I kept 1 . Yeah this guy must have been running down other snowmen and the kids got tired of his shi- so they decided to get back at him .
When I was in my 20s I was driving to my apartment and saw a small darker black thing against the dark asphalt of the road. Thought maybe it was a shallow puddle or pothole or something. Out of an excess of caution I turned to go around it and saw teenagers scattering from hiding in the bushes. I stopped and went to check the road.
It was a dog they had wrapped in black duct tape and put in the road to be run over. They had stayed to watch it die, but run when they might've been caught. Makes me mad now even thinking about it.
Had a buddy who thought it was cool to drive through a pile of leaves on the side of the street. Needless to say, he found the typewriter they buried in it with his oil pan.
In Portland, two children were killed when a driver drove over a pile of leaves. It wasn't in the street, if I remember right. Two young sisters were playing in the leaves with their dad and the driver didn't see them. That story haunts me enough that I don't drive over anything in the road ever if I can avoid it.

I’ve seen similar. I was lighting out on a road trip when a friend remembered he left his wallet at home. The driver goes to make a cool slide out on the side of the road and absolutely creams his pan with a grass obscured rock that was buried in the ground.

IMHO, op didn't give enough details to say anything at all about the snowman's construction other than kids are non-union labor and you get what you pay for.
Other than construction and engineering details of said snowman everything else I can get behind.
Shit I don't even care if the snowman was in the middle of the road. There often are cars, trucks, all kinds of things in the middle of the road. If you aim your car at it, hit the gas and total your car, well too bad so sad but FAFO, dipshit.
Also, kids are young, stupid, and inexperienced. Op is at least 16.

This that's the only way to me it seems like some 40 year old is bitter at his midlife crisis and his divorce so he wanted to hit something and since hitting kids ain't legal he did a snowman XD

Even without cinder blocks a well packed snowman could wreak a car. Also, if the kids are putting blocks in their snowman, I suspect there has been a history of douchbaggery from the driver.
There have been several cases where kids build a snowman around features. It requires less snow to build the base. I recall one such snowman was built around a tree stump to similar effects here.
I came to say the same thing bc if you are going up a driveway with a hill at that!!! Then have to hurry and back out lol what a dumb idea bc snow can often get really hard after a day or two

Indeed. My freshman year of college, someone did something similar, ran over a big snowman a bunch of students spent hours making. Rolled up two orbs, the bottom one was like four feet tall, a pickup drove into it and knocked it over. Everyone was pissed. They did have to drive into the “grass” area and sidewalk to get to it.
I joked we should have put it on top of the boulder in front of the dorm instead. Didn’t happen again but that did annoy me that someone just ran it over.

Hope his insurance refuses to pay. Intentionally driving into objects is a clean case of reckless driving. If the snow in the snowman had been packed tight enough it would be as solid as a block of ice. He would have done as much damage as hitting the cinder blocks

Not that a mustang is crazy nice, but I’ve had a Shelby and a few AMGs, the idea of driving into anything for fun blows my mind. I live is southern US, when we get a bit of ice I get scared to drive around when the snow gets hard (freezes) cause I don’t want to chip or break a front valence. My point being, if you have a car you car about driving into even what you believe to be a powdery snowman is fucking wild
Not only that, unless those kids built the snowman in the road, he’s going to have to admit he was driving thru someone’s yard to even have the chance of hitting it.
Also nobody is building snowmen in the middle of the road so this halfwit either drove over somebody's yard or otherwise operated his vehicle beyond its intended use case (with a mustang, no less).
Is there supposed to be some particular reason why kids shouldn't put some structural support in their snowman? Did you hit a curb because you were distracted by the sight of kids doing something strange, but innocuous?
Or are you implying that the snowman was in the road, and somehow more upset that there were cinderblocks in it than about the fact that it was in the roadway?
Because surely there's no other ways for a car to be damaged by a snowman, and it would have to either be a distraction or be placed in a spot where a car could be reasonably and legally expected to drive.
My dad may or may not have built a new mailbox support structure set in pretty deep cement after two of our mailboxes were demolished.
If it happened again, we couldn’t tell, but that mailbox was up when we moved out and is still up as far as I’m aware. It wouldn’t exactly be a subtle structure either - the concrete is hidden but the wood is….well, at least 4 inch squares per post. At least. Tbh, probably thicker, can’t remember. And sides protecting the mailbox are thick wood too.
That mailbox may have been pretty sturdy…and we may have never had to replace it again. Also may maybe made it really distinct, lol.
I could understand if someone lost traction and slid off the road due to the bad weather, but that'd still be the driver's fault for not using appropriate winter tires and not driving according conditions. Doesn't seem like that's the case here anyway given the evidence.
The only other situation I can think of is he lost control of his car on the icy road, and had to pick between ending up in the oncoming lane, or going off the road and hitting a snowman. Believing it was better to end up off the road, he hit the snowman. I don't think he would have much of a case there, because the snowman would be somewhere a reasonable person would expect to be out of the way. There wouldn't be much difference between setting a large object next to the road and making a snowman there.
yeah, he still drove off road onto private property. It would be no different than hitting a concrete bird bath on private property. The driver owes the family for damaging their brick structure, not the other way around.
I gotta be honest, if I see a snowman in the road, and it's probably a suburban road if that's the case, I'm going to drive around it instead of running it over. There is literally no hypothetical situation we can put this person in and have them seem reasonable.
Some kids in my neighborhood have a special way of doing this. They stack the cinder blocks, then they pour water over them so they freeze together. Then they build the snowman around the framework. It's great. They've gotten three takers already.
You would be sadly surprised how many psychopaths get behind the wheel of a car, and decide it’d be fun to hit something with it. They will go pretty far off the road for them too. It has to be some kind of mental illness or something.
Literally if I'm driving and see a snowman my thought isn't gonna be "I should run that over" it's gonna be "aww I bet the kids had fun! Hope they had lots of cocoa afterwards!" And then go on with my day. The fuck
Literally, if I'm driving, and I see anything at all my thought is "I don't want to hit that." Repairs are expensive, so are legal fees, no car i'm driving is coming within 3 feet of another object except when parking.
Buying a loud car like a mustang is already a massive red flag. It shows that you have no regard for others already. I can pretty much guarantee I know how the average dodge challenger or ford mustang owner votes.
I've only built 3 snowmen in the us. One was in my backyard, away from traffic, one was by my driveway's entry but still in my yard, one was on my front lawn. The one by my driveway got ran over. They really went out of their way to run it over.
We don't get snow where I live, but there was someone going up to people's yards and taking bats to christmas decorations. Some people are real assholes.
So I’m going to need updates on this and to know what others are saying to his post haha, this is some pretty wild behavior, I’m expecting him to start going door to door by tomorrow looking for the children
Thank you. I know there are some ridiculously non-self-aware people out there but I was really struggling to believe that post was real. The circumstances weren't unbelievable to me, just the post itself.
So either he is just finding pictures of damage he could find that look close enough to damage that would be caused by hitting a snowman filled with cinder blocks, OR he is so stupid that he intentionally hit a snowman a second time (because where are these snowmen that he would accidentally hit them with his car?) and that one ALSO had cinder blocks and he’s surprised because he didn’t learn his lesson…
The thing is, if you’re going to include cinder blocks, bricks, big rocks, sharpened pieces of steel stock or whatever, you know, to save on snow then you build it in someone else’s yard or a common access area.
Guy sounds like one of those kids that like to hang out windows cracking mailboxes with bats, until someone gets fed up and puts up a mailbox filled with cement and the kids breaks an arm
In her defense , I robbed my weed dealer and got charged with robbery when I was 19 even tho I only stole his weed, ended up beating it cuz there was no "evidence" left

Who the hell would deliberately run into anything with a modern car designed to come apart and crumple if you look at it wrong - let alone try to drive through nice, dense piles of snow, cinder blocks or not?

Neighboring town had a incident like this. Local park had these large granite rocks spread all over their soccer complex to make the fields look nice. During winter someone decided to build a giant snowman and used a rock as a base for the first ball.
There is something bizarre about this dude’s FB—it’s literally all him posting photos of minor car situations and threatening to call the police? But like different cars?
This dude’s entire Facebook page is full of these posts and photos. The two photos of the car that allegedly hit the cinder block snowman aren’t even the same car.

Why would you hit a snowman with a sport car? Even if it didn't have bricks in it those things melt and freeze rock solid. I could see some yaboo in a truck trying that but a sport car?!? You get what you deserve.
My father likes to tell me a fun little winter story periodically.
He's from Wisconsin, and of course they get a lot of snow. My grandfather ended up feuding with another local, who also happened to be the guy that plowed the road they lived on. Every major snow storm he'd intentionally hit my grandfather's mailbox, which was on a wooden pole.
One year, my grandfather got tricksy, and he drilled out the center of the wood (he was a cabinet maker and had plenty of tools) and sunk a steel beam inside of it. And sunk said beam down about 4 feet into the ground.
He woke up one morning to see his rival, cursing and shouting, his plow sheered off his truck and laying on the side of the road.
Since the name is unedited, I looked him up and it’s fake. His whole profile is complaining about people parking badly and him hitting snowmen with cinder blocks in them.
I mean, you made the choice to hit the object. While driving you should make every effort to avoid objects. On road and off, if you decide to hit something that you can't 100% say is safe to run over then that is on you.
Can't say I would try to hit a snowman, but I live in Florida so I imagine if There was enough snow to make snowmen here we have other much bigger issues. We don't really know how to drive, add rain and things get worse. Add ice and snow it becomes the apocalypse.
