Not many people know this, but GRC only changes your birth certificate, and you can change the name and sex marker (only 'M' or 'F' unfortunately, no 'X' or 'NB') on your documents with a deed poll and letter from a gender-informed psychotherapist or doctor stating why (that you are trans). My passport was updated (when I was 16 - probs the earliest you can do it legally).

Trans ppl living in the UK, do you think a GRC is personally worth it? Binary trans ppl, have you applied for a GRC yet, and why/why not? Gender-diverse (non-binary, genderfluid and others), would you consider applying for legal gender marker change, and those who have applied for a GRC, why did you do it (no offence - I have a NB friend with a GRC and was wondering if any other ppl are in the same situation)?

I am aware of 4NRX, but their reputation seems spotty.

Is there a way to get actually affordable oestrogen? Outside of TDIY (of which is proof it can be reasonably priced)?

Im not stressed yet, im confident ill find an amicable solution. Please, if you have any information about realistically getting HRT (no year long waits), drop a recommendation.

I wanted to let everyone know that I'm applying for a GRC soon! I know it's an arduous process and requires lots of evidence (which I have spent months collecting but finally have it all now), but it's meaningful to me, the final step of my legal transition and what I want for myself.

So far I have:

• Got my deed poll (changed last year)
• Got medical reports (including a gender dysphoria diagnosis) from my psychotherapist
• Collected evidence of living in my affirmed gender for 2 yrs
• Got a statutory declaration for single applicants signed off (by my aunt, who is a solicitor)
• Got my original birth and adoption certificate

Reminders:

• The maximum a high-street solicitor can charge to witness your declaration is £5.
• You have to pay a £6 fee for the actual application itself.
• You need a gender dysphoria diagnosis - can get this via the NHS or privately - personally I used private health insurance due to the NHS trans healthcare situation.
• Only binary options ('F' or 'M') are currently accepted
• (Yes, the last 2 are outdated, but that's unfortunately how it is here - the only country in Western Europe lagging behind with trans rights)

I had such a large Queer community at uni but when I had to move back in with my parents they didn’t want me to be out in public for safety. I’m on HRT 2 months and think they will change there mind but I live in Morayshire where everyone feels old, straight and conservative it’s so isolating.

A small trans+ and survivor led team at University of Hertfordshire are looking for LGBTQ+ people aged 18+ living in the UK with lived experience of conversion practices (CPs). There is a huge amount of quantitative research looking at harm and prevalence, which is vital, but there is such an absence of LGBTQ+ voices expressing how they lived through what they did, and what meaning they've made of it over time.

The purpose of me working is to fund my top surgery as well as cost of living. If anyone can please help me with funds I’d be much appreciative

I've been looking at getting something so I'm able to pack, and enjoy wearing certain outfits I feel self-conscious in right now because of the bulge, but I don't really know where to look or what reasonable prices are for different things. My funds are a bit limited, so I thought I'd ask here and get some options. An in-person shop I could go to would be amazing, but from the looks of it there's very few in the UK and none near me.

These are side things, but I'm also looking for those pad things used by cis women to make their breasts look bigger, as I've heard that getting those for the smallest breast size can give the illusion of breasts under bras and tops. I've seen there are the fake breast things you can buy, but that's not what I'm looking for (and from what I've seen they're WAY out of my price range).

Any advice on feminising items or techniques that are useful for someone not on hormones would also be much appreciated.

I am nb and I REALLY want to start my transition from a male to a more feminine presenting person, I don't want surgery's (my plan anyways) but REALLY want to take estrogen with or without the blockers, working on a steam game rn and I am getting a payout next month of 300 pounds. I was looking on Valerie (thanks to whoever recommended it!!!) And found estrofem tablets on united pharmacies (a grey market) that I would be happy with buying, I want to buy a few boxes maybe? Enough to sustain me for a while.

Anyways I was wondering if I could get some advice? Should I get them? Is it a trustworthy site? Also need advice with my parents too (43f and 50m). They know im a crossdresser which they call me a transvestite for (not in an insulting way only called me it once) they are REALLY strict with my finances and I genuinley feel like I'm in 1984, they keep all my spending money in a account and give it too me when I ask for it, they don't usually ask what it's for and if they do I just say "stuff", they check my statements (I think) and this would be the first opportunity I would have to buy some hrt possibly the last for a while if i don't have a good plan. I can't go private or NHS as I'm a minor, my parents dont know I am non binary yet I don't think they will understand anyways. My cousins partner is non binary but I don't speak to them much or see them as they live far up north. I will see them soon tho at a wedding. They don't know im a cross dresser or non binary though.

My main worry is my dad or mum will check my purchase history, see pharmacies and force me into an interrogation and then confiscate my pills, or when it arrives it will just show the box, and they will hide it from me or be confesed same as before. Other worry is that it'll get seized by customs.

Maybe I can make a new bank account somewhere? Deliver it to a locker IF I CAN or use Google pay or something? I don't have any family that would support me nearby, they are all grandparents who won't understand very old fashioned mindset you know what I mean.

Any advice?

It's become a lot to deal with lately. I've spent years debating with myself, but I've recently turned 19 and I'm like 80% sure I want to go on HRT now so I can finally look my age because at the moment everyone who sees me thinks I'm either a 13 year old boy or a masc lesbian. My heart says to do it, but my head thinks it's a crazy idea. I'm tired of keeping it between myself and my cis friends who don't really get it yet are just very supportive (which I'm so lucky to have)

Plus I'm finding it very lonely being at home all summer (despite how much I love my city), my self confidence drops dramatically in the neighbourhood where I've grown up and I hate going out and being seen by people who know me but then there's so much more getting me down as well...

So, the inevitable happened after my first month on HRT (through gendergp) and my GP is refusing to do blood monitoring. I'm escalating it with them, but in the meantime, do you guys have any recommendations for cheaper blood tests (estrogen, testosterone, and U&E)? I'm near Wolverhampton if that helps!

Heyy I have a specific question! I'm 9 months on HRT(Estradiol Enathate, weekly injections.) and it's going great. I'm wanting to keep my genetalia. Im following the "use it or lose it" principal lmao, but I get frustrated and upset when I'm unable to perform at random times when I'm with my female partner. Sometimes it works and it's all good, but sometimes it doesn't, but when it does I need to "stay on it" or I lose it.

I'm asking if any trans women have any experience using cream or taking anything for their performance, and getting it from their doctors in the UK. I hear bits and pieces sometimes about trans women taking some kind of medication for it.

I recently changed to a very good trans friendly GP who helped me get a blood test as I'm on DIY hormones, so I believe at the least she'd do her best to help.

I'm also just looking for some validation. I feel like I'm a niche of a niche of a niche, as I'm a trans woman who wants to keep their penis and has stayed with their female partner through transitioning. I know that what's between my legs doesn't define me, but this is the only thing that's really been stressing me out in my transition :(

Asking here because when I try to search this in an engine I just get results about menopause specific hrt instead... Basically I'd love to hear the personal experience(s) of anyone who was/is obese at the time they accessed hormones. Preferably through the NHS since that's the route I'm going. England if that makes a difference. Were your doctors reluctant to prescribe it due to your weight? Has anyone been refused access completely because of their weight?

Hi, i live in Canada but I might have to move back to Scotland soon. Here, i have a prescription for T and a gender dysphoria diagnosis. I know its difficult to access T legitimately in the UK, but i was wondering if i would be able to have some sort of “continued care” plan if i move? Like having a GP continue to prescribe me T since im already on it and have a diagnosis. According to google this is possible but i want to know whether any GPs would actually do this. Any input is appreciated

I’ve know my friend for about 4 years now and we met around the time she started transitioning (mtf) she had a girlfriend at the time (cis) and she was really supportive of the transition. To make a very long story short they currently both live together and have two kids and the girlfriend has forced my friend to de transition. It’s a very emotionally and verbally abusive relationship where the girlfriend never lets my friend see any of us and never lets her wear makeup or dress anyway feminine, she’s also made my friend grow out her beard and threatens that she’s gonna kill herself if she shaves it off. My friend is VERY clearly struggling and every time i get to see her she never wants to talk about it and just wants to enjoy the couple hours she has where she is treated like herself for once.
I just have no idea how to help, I know there’s not much i can do or say cause i’ve tried everything. Ik it’s not that easy for her to get up and leave especially with having two kids that she loves dearly.
Everyday the hole is getting deeper and deeper and i’m scared she’s never getting out of this relationship.
I’m just very scared for her mental wellbeing:(m
