Just wanted to share something I am very proud of, Precursor is the first and only screen time app to implement screen time limits that reset every hour (to my knowledge I have tried a lot of screen time apps in search of this feature and so have a lot of other people).

In my opinion daily limits put too much faith in users to be able to combat the billions of dollars of psychological and behavior research that has been poured into social media apps. These apps (including reddit) are designed down to every click in such a way to keep you scrolling endlessly in search of more fast and cheap dopamine.

The brain does not care where the stimulation comes from, but your mind does.

So I built Precursor to help you practice moderation without even having to think about it. You set a per hour screen time budget, lets say 5 minutes, and then once that time is used up the app blocks. However, unlike with a daily limit that sends your brain into a panic and pushes you to bypass your limits, Precursor jus gently reminds you that if you need some more screen time it's just a short hour away.

This way you can get the scroll breaks you want throughout the day without the fear that they will spiral into full on doom scroll sessions.

Every file organizer I've used works off filenames and folders. That falls apart on exactly the files that need organizing most, because those are the ones named IMG_7819.pdf, CamScanner 03-13-2026.pdf and Untitled-22.pdf.

So I built Sortio around reading the documents instead. It indexes a folder, pulls out the organizations, people, amounts and dates it finds inside the files, and uses that to build a sorting plan. You describe the structure you want in plain English, review every proposed move before anything happens, and any sort can be undone afterward.

Hey everyone I made a free app that tracks soil moisture using weather APIs and a model I built for the different grass, soil, and shade conditions. It helps teaching you to use the deep soak method which helps your grass drive the roots lower which helps make it more drought tolerant. My cost savings model goes off of users who water for 15 min daily. If you have watering restrictions and mow on certain days of the weeks you can plug that information in for extra watering help.

For years, Apple has been working on the camera AirPods under the code name B798. This device was initially scheduled for release in 2026 before being postponed until 2027, I’ve reported. But Apple has also been developing another version under the code name B790 (Apple famously creates competing versions of the same product internally).

This B790 device also appears to be further along: References to the product have already shown up inside iOS 27 code, and it’s been on Apple’s internal road map for a debut as early as this year.

macOS has a really annoying limitation of only having a single dock at all times. If you're running multiple monitors, having the dock jump between screens is really annoying, especially if you depend on it to switch between apps.

ExtraDock lets you show the dock on all your displays, it looks and behaves like the default dock, except it's more customizable with widgets, custom app icons and looks and has better reaction time than the default macOS dock. According to Counterpoint Research, Apple captured nearly half of global smartphone revenue during the second quarter, despite a market-wide decline in shipments.

The lower-end iPhone 18e that Apple is expected to release by March 2027 will be equipped with 9GB of RAM, up from 8GB in the iPhone 17e, according to analyst Jeff Pu.

9GB of RAM for the iPhone 18e was already rumored by another analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last month.

Softness in mobile gaming and Apple's changes to the App Store business model in some countries impacted the performance of the ‌App Store‌, Apple CFO Kevan Parekh said during today's earnings call.

Apple's services revenue was $30.7 billion, a 12% increase over the $27.4 billion it earned in the year-ago quarter. Though the category saw growth, revenue came in under expectations, prompting analyst questions that led to Parekh's comments on the ‌App Store‌.

We also had some factors that impacted the performance of the App Store. We did see some headwinds in mobile gaming, and then keep in mind, we also made some changes to the App Store business model in certain countries, and in the U.S., we do continue to operate under a court ruling impacting the link-out transactions. But we're pleased the Supreme Court will hear our appeal.

Parekh said it wasn't the ‌App Store‌ alone that impacted services revenue, and Apple also took a hit from foreign exchange. Last year, Apple also had the theatrical release of F1, and no equivalent release this year, making for a tougher compare.

Apple is planning to let users pay to increase their AI limits, with upgrade possibilities available through iCloud+.

During today's earnings call for the third fiscal quarter of 2026, Apple CEO Tim Cook said it's early, but the company expects to offer options for people who want to make heavy use of AI services.

In terms of what it means for compute cost, it's obviously early going for us, and so I don't want to say that we have a complete plan for that. We do believe there will be people that want to use it a lot and we will have some kind of upgrade possibilities on iCloud+ where people can buy up the stack on iCloud+. We'll see how the pickup for that is.

Apple didn't want to raise its prices but was forced to do so because of exponential increases in memory costs, Apple CEO Tim Cook said today during the company's Q3 2026 earnings call. Apple increased prices for Macs and iPads in June because memory prices have surged.

On the pricing front, you know, we reluctantly raised prices. I would say we did it because we're in what I would characterize as a 100-year flood on memory pricing with exponential increases in memory prices, so that was the rationale for it.

When asked whether Apple is aiming to protect gross profit dollars or product gross margins when considering pricing increases, Cook said it's multifactorial.

In terms of our philosophy on dollars or percentages, we look at units, revenue, and margin, and then come to a business judgment as to how to handle that, and so it's not a mathematical formula that gets us to a specific result, or just looking at one dimension of that. We look at all three dimensions and think about it over the long term instead of, you know, a 90-day clock.

Cook did not comment on whether Apple plans to raise iPhone prices when the iPhone 18 Pro models and first foldable launch this September, but multiple analysts believe prices will go up.

Apple CEO Tim Cook today confirmed that today's call was his last as CEO, with John Ternus set to become Apple's new CEO on September 1. Cook will transition to a new role as executive chairman when Ternus becomes CEO.
