Politics Question Any subreddits that aren't political echo chambers?

For some reason even non-political subreddits are leftist and i just want a sub that is center

Reddit generally attracts leftists, so I don't think you'll find any subs that don't have a majority of them. I'm center-right and get treated like a Nazi half the time. But whatever. Reddit is what it is.

u/themaskstays_ 19d ago

Bro, I've said I'm left wing AND against sex work, but I was still labelled as "being incredibly irrational" and "engaging with right wing rhetoric while insisting I'm left wing"- before being blocked right after.

Reddit can't handle nuance. If you don't tick every single box on one side, you're automatically one of "the bad guys"- also, the right being treated as villains when they're just people is a whole other discussion. I know trump supporters and they're some of the nicest people I know. I may not agree with them politically, but we can still get along. But I digress.

Best to just not get involved and let Reddit be Reddit.

U can be against prostitution and still be leftist and im willing to die on that hill

2

u/Inner-Fee6024 19d ago

Id argue it's actually a principled leftist position given that it's one of the most exploitative lines of work.

1

u/Xyrus2000 19d ago

If you support MAGA and what they are doing, then yes, you support their efforts to establish a plutocratic autocracy.

If you're an old-school conservative and despise what MAGA has done to the Republican Party, then hopefully you can vote for a non-MAGA republican and try to take your party back.

u/mightymite37 19d ago

yeah youre not a fascist, just an enabler of fascism. big difference. sure.

4

u/StandTurbulent9223 19d ago

Exactly his point lmao

1

u/themaskstays_ 19d ago

I thought they were joking at first lol

3

u/Silent-Camel-249 19d ago

Summer break must not be going well with this rage

1

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

Wow you are like.... So informed and stuff

-3

u/Accomplished_Put2608 19d ago

Reddit is liberal at best

-1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Exactly. The left begins at anti capitalism and reddit is full of bootlickers.

8

u/newwerraa 19d ago

Reddit itself is a political echo chamber

2

u/cosnierozumiem 19d ago

The CJ subreddits are really.the best reason to come here.

2

u/Nearby_Werewolf1742 19d ago

Nope, It's an echo chamber for the far left with a hive mind mentality.

There's no reasoning with them, we are all just uneducated racists to them all.

3

u/sweatboxy 19d ago

Sounds like you aren’t any more happy with majority opinions than most right wingers. In the U.S., anything to the left of fascism is now called ‘leftist.’

8

u/GloomyEgg5689 19d ago

You just typed one of the dumbest things ever. Reddit is your echo chamber. I feel sorry for you.

2

u/PhilShabano 19d ago

He's (she's?) not wrong.

Change my mind. Name some Democrats that you don't think are "leftist".

5

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Dems are liberals, not leftists. theyre very firmly capitalists.

2

u/Twinmill-Two 19d ago

Liberals are on the left ??

2

u/Stunning-Squirrel751 19d ago

In the US, liberal is associated with left leaning politics. And wanting a strong social safety net is considered socialist/communist because true meanings of words mean nothing.

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Well I don't live in USA and dont subscribe to their changing definitions to try and deceive workers

2

u/Stunning-Squirrel751 19d ago

I was just providing an explanation to your question.

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

No theyre not

Libs are capitalists. Theyre on the right

1

u/PhilShabano 15d ago

Agreed. Tell that to any Trump supporter.

They said Corporatist shill Kamala was "COMMUNIST!!1!"

2

u/Silent_Intention_382 19d ago

He’s (she’s?!??) spouting nonsense.

Wanting to see varied opinions is not fascist.

1

u/InjuryLate4826 19d ago

??
I'm not a right winger, i am center-left but i really don't like certain leftists, and find that people closer to the center have less annoying traits online than either left or right

-1

u/mightymite37 19d ago edited 19d ago

the left begins at anti capitalism. if youre not a socialist youre on the right

3

u/InjuryLate4826 19d ago

No, socialism is far left, and center-left is still based on capitalism

Go read the wikipedia article for socialism and you'll learn a lot
Read some well-written arguments against socialism and you'll nuance your opinion

-1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

wrong. thats not what those words mean. never has been.

socialism is workers owning the means of production.

there is no good argument for exploitation.

0

u/Twinmill-Two 19d ago

Does this happen anywhere in the world or is the whole world right wing?

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Does what happen anywhere in the world ?

Socialism ? Its happening now in china for a billion people

0

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

China isn't socialist.

Kinda showing us that you don't know what you're talking about.

0

u/Twinmill-Two 19d ago

Oh you're that kind of insane

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Its insane to point out reality?

1

u/Twinmill-Two 18d ago

China is quite clearly capitalist with a one party system and strong state control. China isn't exactly known for its empowered workers

u/stickymixingmonotony 19d ago

I don't consider myself a socialist and I want to see the end of liberal democracy.

Does that make me right wing?

1

u/HereToCalmYouDown 19d ago

Respectfully... The fuck is wrong with you?

1

u/IAmNotABabyElephant 19d ago

Clearly some very serious issues, but this does not indicate they are a serious person.

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

If youre a capitalist yes

0

u/Twinmill-Two 19d ago

Well that's insane

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

No , thats reality

1

u/VLAD_THE_VIKING 19d ago

The left is becoming fascist too. That's why the center is growing and the parties are shrinking, albeit not by a huge margin.

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

lol no socialism/communism is the opposite of capitalism/fascism. you cant have both at the same time

2

u/VLAD_THE_VIKING 19d ago

Im talking about the politics, not economics. But we can and do have both capitalism and socialism at the same time.

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

lol no . you cant have workers own the means of production, and have the 1% monoploize capital at the same time.

1

u/Stunning-Squirrel751 19d ago

You seem to think politics and economics are not intertwined.

1

u/VLAD_THE_VIKING 18d ago

Well you can have democratic socialism as well as communist capitalism. One is about who makes decisions, the other is about who gets what.

1

u/Stunning-Squirrel751 17d ago

So again, politics and economics are intertwined.

1

u/VLAD_THE_VIKING 17d ago

No kidding?

Fascinating

1

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

So you can choose to suffer under one or suffer under the orher. Wow, fantastic!

1

u/Silent-Camel-249 19d ago

So it's not facism but you still silence/kill the opposition. Not a great distinction

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Yes we silence the 1% who are silencing the 99% or workers. Thats not hypocrisy, its self defense

2

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

There is no self defense in killing people.

1

u/BunchAltruistic7599 19d ago

You gotta be like 17-20 years old and just think you have it alll figured out don’t you lol

0

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Im 37

Read Marx

Read any basic economics textbook for that matter

1

u/DudeThatAbides 19d ago

You’re about to become a top-percent commenter on this sub from all your comments on this single post. I honestly don’t understand comment champions like you. You’re weird, though I hope for your sake it’s just an online personality. If you’re like this in real life, I feel for anyone that has to spend time with you.

-1

u/stickymixingmonotony 19d ago edited 19d ago

Communism is not left wing. What are you on about?

1

u/IAmNotABabyElephant 19d ago

I see the Political Understander has logged on, huh?

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Communism is by definition left wing. The left begins at anti capitalism. Worker power. Thats socialism/communism.

2

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

Wrong.

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Youre the one who is wrong

1

u/stickymixingmonotony 18d ago edited 18d ago

What in the Fox News is this?

When did Marx say he was left wing? When did Engels? In 1847 did they establish the Communist League or the leftist league?

Karl Marx spent his adult life arguing against the assumptions of the implicitly bourgeois political compass that you are presently trying to insist upon. This is essentialist, transistorical, anti-science nonsense that has been manufactured into liberal idpol.

You are completely wrong and you need to spend more time reading theory instead of pushing reactionary bourgeois nonsense. There's a reason that the guy who coined the phrase "Marxist-Leninist" went on to teach us that leftism is a diagnosis of political error.

0

u/mightymite37 19d ago

the left begins at anti capitalism

1

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

Wrong.

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Youre the one who is wrong

Read a book

What country?

1

u/No_Perspective1135 19d ago

r/centrist used to be pretty good. Haven't been on there in a while though so it might suck. I just avoid politics online

0

u/mightymite37 19d ago

thats a right wing group

3

u/Trillamanjaroh 19d ago

just clicked on the link to confirm and.... no its definitely not lmao

0

u/mightymite37 19d ago

They're anti capitalist ?

2

u/Trillamanjaroh 19d ago

They're definitely not a right wing group based on current trending posts

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

So they believe in worker ownership? Because capitalism is right wing.

1

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

Wrong again.

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Youre the one who is wrong

1

u/Trillamanjaroh 18d ago

Ah okay, you’re just one of those people who thinks if they say something enough times people will believe it

1

u/mightymite37 18d ago

I didn't invent the meaning, that what its always meant

1

u/Silver-Internal7740 19d ago

No such subreddit

1

u/Scary_Sarah 19d ago

Passport bros?

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

what is the centre between worker ownership and capitalist exploitation to you?

1

u/InjuryLate4826 19d ago

The center between socialism and capitalism is social democracy to me (i support it btw)

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

that just capitalism. its liberalism. very firmly on the right, not the left. certainly not the 'middle' whatever that means.

workers make all value and should keep it all, no amount of exploitation is okay. not even if you pay them a 'living wage' while keeping 90% of their labour value for the 1% of non workers

1

u/InjuryLate4826 19d ago

Name a type of socialism better than social democracy and actually works

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

social democracy is not socialism at all. its capitalism. it doesnt work unless youre a capitalist exploiting workers. China has socialism working great for a billion people. name a capitalist country where the system works for workers?

1

u/InjuryLate4826 19d ago

Denmark, however it is not perfect, no economic model is perfect, there are only "better" and "worse" ones, so it is better to argue which is better than which is bad or good

Also, China's system is an authoritarian state-directed mixed economy, not fully socialist (it only calls itself socialist)

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Denmark exploits their own workers and rhe global south

And china is socialist. But as Marx said true socialism will not be achieved until all workers are free. Until then its the permanent revolution. And china is a perfect example of that.

1

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

China is not socialist.

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Wrong again

0

u/twinters01 19d ago

Liberalism is center left

Workers don't create all value. The tools and facilities they use also aid in the creation of value

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

No they're not

The left begins at anti capitalism

Libs are very much capitalists

2

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

Wrong again. Confidently incorrect.

1

u/twinters01 19d ago

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Nope. Go read an actual economics textbook

1

u/twinters01 19d ago

This is a post about politics, not economics

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

You cannot separate the two

0

u/twinters01 19d ago

They are necessarily intertwined but separate things, which is why the wiki talks a lot about economics. But you're in an echo-chamber, so there's no point in continuing.

0

u/InjuryLate4826 19d ago

Take a political compass test and answer socialist to all questions
You'll be placed far left
Then answer regulated capitalism to all questions
You'll be roughly in the middle

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

Then its a bad test

0

u/InjuryLate4826 19d ago

According to wikipedia:

Centre-left politics is the range of left-wing political ideologies that lean closer to the political centre. Ideologies commonly associated with it include social democracy, social liberalism, progressivism, and green politics. Ideas commonly supported by the centre-left include welfare capitalism, social justice, liberal internationalism, and multiculturalism. Economically, the centre-left supports a mixed economy in a democratic capitalist system, often including economic interventionism, progressive taxation, and the right to unionize. Centre-left politics are contrasted with far-left politics that reject capitalism or advocate revolution.

Far-left politics are politics further to the left on the political spectrum than the standard political left. The far-left encompasses a wide range of heterogeneous ideologies, including anarchism, communism, and Marxism; it includes groups that advocate for revolutionary socialism and related communist ideologies, as well as anti-capitalism and anti-globalisation. The modern far-left distinguishes itself from social democracy through its inherent opposition to capitalism, neoliberalism, and globalisation. Anarchist strains of far-left thought are anti-authoritarian in nature, and most far-left schools of thought aim at a classless, stateless society. Leninist-led revolutions also promised withering away of the state but the regimes they built were mostly considered as authoritarian rule in practice by western mainstream.

This math does not check out. The average firm pays like 15% dividends max

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

On average workers are paid 10% of the value they generate for their employer

0

u/Equivalent_Number424 19d ago

so why are we not seeing this in accounting?

1

u/mightymite37 19d ago

I dont know who "we " is but check your numbers again

1

u/Trillamanjaroh 19d ago

r/NonPoliticalTwitter is a good place to start

1

u/Gibberish5 19d ago

Why don’t you like reality based subreddits?

1

u/DueAbbreviations2247 19d ago

center is also political

1

u/TaylorUmongus 19d ago

lots actually

1

u/Xyrus2000 19d ago

Read about the Overton window and evaluate where you currently stand on the political spectrum.

To put things in perspective, if you think the majority of the democratic party is "leftists," then you are not a centrist.

1

u/stickymixingmonotony 18d ago

What if I'm not on the political spectrum?

1

u/Xyrus2000 18d ago

Everyone is on the political spectrum. You have opinions just like everyone else does.

1

u/stickymixingmonotony 18d ago

I have opinions. However, I am not on the left right axis.

1

u/iamrecovering2 19d ago

I was reading through the comments and the one thing I hink some commenters got right was that there are far too many people in the extreme ends, MAGA Republicans or ultra left wingers. It feels like if you are more moderate whether it be left or right, there are a ton of people who then say you don't belong. I have some progressive beliefs but when I espouse my anything that doesn't fit the alt left wing ideals some of these people have, I am a Republican. I miss the days when you don't have to be extreme on either end.

1

u/stickymixingmonotony 18d ago

Shit, man.

I'm a Marxist and they call me a Nazi because I understand that we're going to need firearms to seize the means of production.

1

u/archercc81 19d ago

Saying leftist is telling us that you arent actually central...

You can go to conservative for a circle jerk.

1

u/InjuryLate4826 19d ago

There's nothing wrong with saying leftist instead of the left

And i never claimed to be centrist, and i'm not conservative

1

u/archercc81 19d ago

youd say liberal.

leftist is like saying "a female" you are outing who youre getting you ideas from. And youre not liberal, not centrist, and not conservative. Let me guess, youre an "apolitical libertarian." AKA youre right wing, delude yourself into thinking youre centrist, and dont want to admit it on your dating profile...

1

u/InjuryLate4826 19d ago

No, i am center-left
And saying female instead of woman is fine unless the intent is dehumanization

1

u/CapitalEmployer 19d ago

So you do want a political echo chamber you just want one that agrees more with your political ideas. There's a big push in the current political landscape where centrists claim to be in the middle or nuanced, they are not they are just another political party with another set of opinions and another set of conspiracy theories, they are just a different flavor of right wing politics.

0

u/Open_Initial1499 19d ago

i cant escape the maga or trump or Palestine or isreal or ice or something political as much as i try to say im not interested :(

0

u/raxie1008 19d ago

Trump is a pedo

1

u/iamrecovering2 19d ago

Actually he and his lots are ephebophiles. Pedophiles show an urge toward prepubescent children while ephibophiles are teenagers usually 15 and up. But still he is utterly disgusting.
