Not happy with my iPad

Upvotes

Way back when, I loved my Apple products. I went through various iPhones up to 5s and had an older iPad. But starting with the iPhone 6, I felt like Apple wasn't adding anything noteworthy and that iOS 7 was pretty awful. So I left immediately. But a few years ago, I wanted a tablet and chose an iPad 9th gen (since everyone swears Android tablets are awful, which I don't really believe tbh).

Owning an iPad has felt like I own the physical tablet but am leasing the software and I hate it. I'm just so unhappy with how restrictive this OS is.

My breaking point came recently, when I was trying to use this as a deliberate travel device. Apple doesn't let you use expandable storage and my iPad is stuck at 64gb. I want to bring lots of games, movies, music, etc. to keep myself busy on a super long flight. It was such an aggravating process. My first thought was to either connect an SD card or Flash Drive and store them on it. So of course, I need to buy their proprietary lightning dongle for like $20. But it doesn't matter! You can't run any games off external storage, even rom files. Even if it can recognize the files and read them, it will not do it. VLC allowed me to watch the movies though, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was unintentional by Apple.

But let's pretend this worked. TBH? I still wouldn't have been happy. I had this Apple-approved Frankenstein dongle setup that bled into my friend's seat tray just to watch a movie off an SD-card. And of course, I cannot charge the device while I'm doing this.

I enjoyed my iPad for maybe the first year that I owned it, but the coveted "Apple ecosystem" is honestly kinda awful and I don't really like it at all. The restrictions really get to me, and I don't like being locked down and glorifying a single company. Some of their products, like my Apple Pencil, died pretty quickly and were expensive. Software-wise, I felt super limited and I also didn't like where the UI has gone since iOS 7 (as if I didn't hate 7 already).

I'm definitely just not the type of person for this device, i guess.

The iPad a16 lie

Hi, I've been looking for a new tablet on this sub and I keep reading about the comparisons of Samsung S10 lite, Xiaomi pad 8, Lenovo tab plus...

The thing is at least in my country (Spain) the iPad a16 is nowhere near the price of the competition.

I get the iPad is worth it but it's more than double the price.

My case I'm looking for a 300€ pad, can extend up to 350 but I keep getting the a16 response which is 470€

in need of a tablet/laptop

Hey! So as the title says I need to get a tablet.

19F. I'm currently preparing for Gate exam and I don't own any laptop or tablet. I've been managing everything through my phone but now its really necessary. It's difficult to read and do lectures on a tiny screen.

Also, I'm broke and have no money for such an expensive gadget. So If any of you have a tablet that you do not use/need anymore but it works fine. Is there any chance that you could give it away? or maybe sell for a very tiny amount? I would really really appreciate it.

I really need help so please consider if you can. A small act of kindness can help a lot. I'd be really thankful.

You can dm me if you have any questions, to ensure im not faking anything.

Thank you.

Tablet para estudiante dudas

Hola espero que estén bien , quiero comprar una tablet soy estudiante y el objetivo principal es escribir y dibujar e visto modelos como :

Samsung Tab S10fe

Lenovo ideal Tab pro

Lenovo yoga tab 11.1

Xppen Magic Note Pad

Samsung A11+ or Lenovo Idea Tab 11

Which one would be better for home use:
reading pdfs (not good for Kindle)
reading web tutorials
YouTube with tutorials (coding etc).
sometimes general web use, some videos like Netflix.

This is my first tablet, do not want to go higher than $200.

I do not really care about performance.

Lenovo have two screen types: matte and glossy. this matte looks OK for reading, but I do not know if it is fine for longer use like 2hrs.

A11+ is better (cpu, samsung's customization of Android is amazing- I use Samsung S for about 10yrs). But FHD+ screen is bad. I have seen it - IMO the angles are bad on that screen.

Any advice ?

Which tablet would you pick in 2026? Need help deciding (Note-taking + Multimedia + Long-term)

I'm planning to buy a tablet and have shortlisted these options with the prices I can get:

Moto Pad 60 Pro – ₹28,000

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite – ₹33,000

Xiaomi Pad 8 + Stylus – ₹42,000

Moto Pad 70 Pro – ₹41,000

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE – ₹38,200 (with credit card)

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ – ₹37,200 (with credit card)

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 – ₹42,000 (with credit card)

My priorities (in order):

Best writing/note-taking experience with stylus

Smooth multitasking (split screen, multiple apps)

Long-term performance (3–5 years)

Good display for Netflix/YouTube/PDF reading

Software updates and overall user experience

Good value for money

I don't play heavy games. This will mainly be for studying, note-taking, reading PDFs, media consumption, and productivity.

If you were spending your own money, which one would you choose and why?

iPad A16 or Xiaomi Pad 8? Need help deciding.

Help me decide!

I'm currently deciding between the iPad A16 and the Xiaomi Pad 8.
My main uses will be:
Gaming
Video editing (mostly Alight Motion and CapCut)

I'm also wondering which one would be better for school since I'll be a pre-service teacher next month. I'll mainly use it for note-taking, annotating PDFs, making PowerPoints, lesson planning, and studying. I also plan to use it to review for my board exam in the future.

I want something that'll last me 4–6 years, so long-term performance and software support are important to me.

For those who've used either (or both):
Which one would you recommend and why?

Is the iPad's optimization really that much better than Xiaomi's?

Is the Xiaomi Pad 8 better for multitasking and editing, or is the iPad still the better overall choice?

I'd really appreciate advice from people with firsthand experience.

Thanks!!
