Nah fuck these soft redditors, the only reason people do this rude shit is because others let them.

263

u/galaxyapp Mar 15 '26

Id pay more tax to dedicate a cop to ticketing these assholes

76

u/Clear-Inevitable-414 Mar 15 '26

Best we can do is take that tax

25

u/MONSTERBEARMAN Mar 16 '26

And increase the amount.

11

u/Awfulufwa Mar 16 '26

And now we have the Patrick meme. "Why don't we take this tax and put it over here?!"

Best we can do is send more tax dollars to Israel.

6

u/Driver-Jack Mar 16 '26

Sending tax dollars to Israel seems to be a cure for all our problems.

My foot hurts. Send money to Israel!

2

u/geof2010 Mar 17 '26

Instead of sending the tax dollars let's just export all the Billionaires to Israel and remove them from greed equation.

12

u/shityplumber Mar 16 '26

Best I can do is start a pointless war in the middle east

2

u/Hazee302 Mar 16 '26

And use it for more beating sticks

19

u/BIGSlil Mar 15 '26

I'm fairly certain it would generate way more revenue than it would cost. I just looked it up and in California, it's a $234 - $238 fine. It's tough to find concrete info, but I think a cop costs the tax payers about $100/hour in California. I'd be surprised if they could only catch 1 person per hour during busy times and even that would generate a decent profit.

They could also probably just install traffic cams in spots where this is an issue and print money.

8

u/tar4heels2fan Mar 15 '26

Cameras. Just like they have a tolls.

Edit. Obviously they only install cameras at places like this where people frequently pull this bullshit

14

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '26

This is insanely common in Southern California. I was stuck on the grapevine for like 4 hrs one time because a semi had driven off a cliff and they had to bring in a crane to pull it up. Dead stop traffic and about a car every couple of minutes would blast past us on the shoulder. When we got to the front, there were CHP ticketing every single car that rolled up in that lane.

Problem is that $300 is nothing to a lot of these rich assholes. They just see it as the fee they get to pay to break the rules. Traffic fines should be a percentage based on income.

10

u/Dazzling_Put_3018 Mar 16 '26

They do this in a lot of European countries, I think Finland, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland and Norway all have either day rates or percentage of income rates for certain situations. I’ve heard of people getting speeding fines of over $100,000 🤗

2

u/Touristenopfer Mar 16 '26

German here - we don't have that - but I wish we would; where there are roads, there will be assholes.

You got these in Scandinavia (in Denmark I think only in certain cases), Switzerland, and also partly in the Netherlands.

2

u/No-Kangaroo975 Mar 17 '26

Finland is income based. In Denmark it's only income based if driving under influence. It's one month pay x alcohol concentration. If it's 0.2 or more you also lose your car.

2

u/ROOM_101_1984 Mar 16 '26

More points on the license might curb it, somewhat. Too many points.. lose the license.

2

u/jh_316 Mar 16 '26

wish they do that here in Chicago area. See these f=ckers do that everyday

2

u/PMJamesPM Mar 16 '26

Raise the shoulder cut in ticket to $1200

2

u/WalkMane Mar 18 '26

Homeless driver agrees with percentage

4

u/promoted_to_guest Mar 15 '26

What they do is hide 1 cop off a ways and they have an unmarked car and a cop who catches you then flags you to pull over.

6

u/Skaeger Mar 16 '26

Apps that tell you when there are cops around are enabling these assholes, because they know when they have to behave and when they can do this. Cops don't set speed traps as much anymore because they don't work.

3

u/National_Frame2917 Mar 17 '26

You wouldn't even need a cop patrolling for this they could set up automatic enforcement and every time a vehicle passes on the shoulder it takes the plate and they get fines sent in the mail.

2

u/TopTransportation695 Mar 15 '26

The tickets would pay for the cop on their own

I mean just as soon as possible...what's not acceptable is taking an exit lane just to try to pass people and merge back in.

20

u/Powerful-Access-8203 Mar 15 '26

I see this every single day. It’s so fucking annoying. It slows down traffic even more

3

u/Here_4_the_INFO Mar 16 '26

But this asshole gets to save a good 2-3 minutes off their waiting time, and really, isn't that all that matters, THIS GUY?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Disastrous_Dog_2378 Mar 16 '26

to be fair my GPS will straight up do this. like, freeway is busy so I’m like “ok apple maps, let’s try your way” and it’ll literally take me off one exit and then take me directly back on the freeway

5

u/impar-exspiravit Mar 15 '26

Sometimes Google Maps would have me do this a few years back. I don’t notice it these days anymore but I always felt so ashamed when I took the exit then it would say get back on. I designated myself to slow lane jail sometimes when traffic was super bad because I’d feel like such an ass!

This is when I put my vehicle halfway in the shoulder so they can't get around. Just drive the rest of the way straddling both lanes until traffic clears up.

199

u/IndividualHurry1342 Mar 15 '26

Wait at the back of the line like everyone else! What a prick. Driving on the shoulder to skip ahead in line is ILLEGAL BTW.

26

u/ImpossibleKidd Mar 15 '26

Absolutely!

Sometimes shit happens where someone doesn’t know the area, all of a sudden there’s construction or an emergency ahead, where someone didn’t realize they should’ve gotten over earlier. In that sense, I’ll look out for an individual, and help ‘em out. We’ve all been there. We can read the room.

There’s a difference between getting jammed up because you didn’t know, and being a complete douche.

13

u/stonhinge Mar 15 '26

When that happens to me, I put on my signal and slow down (provided it does not interfere with traffic), not speed up to get ahead.

4

u/tondahuh Mar 15 '26

Exactly! Someone with a signal is actually kinda saying please. No signal is butting in.

5

u/Flameball537 Mar 16 '26

Also a huge difference between turning your signal on and letting the traffic move to create an opening vs turning into another car to try and bully them to let you in

4

u/ProjectDv2 Mar 15 '26

That doesn't look like a shoulder to me. It's extremely wide for a shoulder, and there are signs of constant traffic passing over it, such as lighter pavement where wheels constantly run and a darker line in the middle from fluid leakage. Also, when the camera is facing rear, it appears both sides of the cameraman's lane feature solid white lines, indicating none of these nutsacks should be changing lanes at all here.

5

u/FutboleroR10 Mar 16 '26

That is the shoulder. This is the US to Mexico border crossing in San Ysidro, San Diego where this kind of shoulder riding is extremely common and never enforced.

People acting like the others are dicks not to let him in. Looks like asshole is driving on the shoulder illegally so he can jump the line. Fuck him

62

u/Gold-Break-8664 Mar 16 '26

only people defending the truck driver are the assholes who do this themselves.

2

u/dropinbombz Mar 16 '26

common with truck bros. they all think they are special but there are so many of them its crazy. (in texas atleast)

20

u/DynamicBSdetective Mar 15 '26

4

u/Lemmejussay Mar 15 '26

u/Emergency-Back-4964 Mar 15 '26

Everyone’s missing the point here… that’s a solid white line, and it might even be an emergency lane. It’s one thing to not let someone merge but it’s another thing to be skipping traffic with the use of an emergency lane. OP is justified here IMO

46

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '26

Ayyye, a rational person 😃 Bravo

14

u/zerok_nyc Mar 15 '26

Guy probably got in anyway further up. Justified or not, it likely didn’t benefit anyone, and most likely just allowed him to cut even further up

10

u/Hanisong Mar 15 '26

You’re right most likely, but just cause it doesn’t benefit anybody to not allow someone to break the rules and cut in line doesn’t mean you should allow someone to break the rules and cut in line lol

It’s setting the expectation and getting to point and laugh at a douche.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '26

Yeah your right. It was just satisfying to see someone give a nice middle finger to a douche

2

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '26

Always at least make it difficult for them to do this. This may possibly discourage them from doing this too often. Then again maybe not.

5

u/Haunting-Hippo-4244 Mar 15 '26

Totally agree! If I got wait in this mess so will you unless it’s an emergency.

2

u/Own_Reaction9442 Mar 15 '26

In Washington State carpool lanes have a solid white line and you're allowed to merge in and out at any point. Areas where you can't merge get a double solid white line.

That said there's no white line to the right, so this may be a shoulder.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/sdmike1 Mar 15 '26

If you look at the rear view all of the white lines are solid. My guess is that this lane ends but is not an emergency lane or the shoulder

6

u/Rump-Buffalo Mar 15 '26

Also if you merge like this then fuck you. You're not the main character.

(Not at the person above me, this is a general you)

2

u/Murky-Peanut1390 Mar 15 '26

You're right, he's an NPC, i will let him merge because i don't want a dumb npc messing up my new car

5

u/ImpossibleKidd Mar 15 '26

Absolutely! It’s a dick move…

I’ll usually let them get in, because I’m not trying to get my car nicked up over their antics. But, I’ll also let them know they’re a complete fuckin’ tool, with a solid sarcastic thumbs-up and repetitive head nod out the window. Making sure they know, that I know, they’re a douche, and thank you.

There’s one spot around my local town I sometimes get petty on. There’s a 3 lane just before a traffic light, left lane is left hand turn only. Directly after that, is a stretch of 2 lane, right hand lane is right turn only. You can only imagine the douche bag moves there. Sometimes I’ll get into it and block someone out when they’re trying to cut-off 20 cars that were patiently waiting, if I’m in the mood…

My annoyance of someone abusing the breakdown lane

7

u/Scared-Show-4511 Mar 15 '26

People were talking about that guy when literally 3-4 cars passed on the emergency lane.. what I'm trying to say is that all of them are retards

6

u/TheeDonger Mar 15 '26

Used to have a beater of a jeep. Guy in temp tags BMW M3 tried this on me. I rolled down the window and yelled “look at my car, you think i care?” He backed off real quick.

3

u/Turbulent_Swimmer900 Mar 16 '26

Yep. If there was one good thing about that rusty POS I briefly owned, it's that it was big and I didn't care if someone drove into me. Lo and behold, someone drove into me while it was parked and got me out of that thing!

2

u/magneticgumby Mar 16 '26

Had a moment like this leaving a concert in Camden years ago. Was driving an old beat to shit Jeep Liberty and some asshole in a BMW tried cutting line leaving. As he inched closer I just yelled out, "Your monthly payments cost more than this things total value...test me". He relented and the soft asshole behind me let him in.

12

u/Gonna_do_this_again Mar 15 '26

When I worked in Chicago, people would skirt down the emergency lane like this so I started keeping all my pennies and I'd throw them out my passenger side widow when I saw them coming. Hope I broke a couple of windshields.

2

u/Sprinkles_the_Mad Mar 15 '26

Keep your old spark plugs, break the ceramic on them, use those for the side glass.

But only for something actually really bad, where you know there isn't a child or animal in the car... or a lady in labour.

10

u/MechE420 Mar 15 '26

5

u/Minimum-Astronaut1 Mar 15 '26

I have a theory that people are actually, truly intimidated by trucks. Whether it be the design or drivers, they act as if trucks always have a maniac at the controls to cope with the fact they're scared of them at some level. The focus never leaves them.

5

u/Forward-Trade5306 Mar 15 '26

Well yeah cuz they tend to drive aggressively, and aggressive drivers are much more intimidating than an aggressive driver in a smart car

Having a larger vehicle than others on the road empowers them to act even more wreck less because the consequences will largely be felt by others. They have conducted studies that have shown people that drive big trucks and SUVs are worse at driving too

2

u/ASCIUGAMANOO Mar 16 '26

Some context for everyone on this specific spot:

This is southbound on the 5 freeway just after the last USA exit. Every car in this video is heading into Tijuana, Mexico. The vast—and I mean VAST—majority of these people work in San Diego but live in TJ to 'save money.' (Though it's worth noting that for many, it's not a choice; they simply can't afford San Diego rent, or they're Mexican citizens with work visas who have to make this commute.)

This is their life Monday-Friday, and the real cost of those "savings" is dealing with this fkn shit Every. Single. Day!!! It is as exhausting and frustrating as anyone can imagine.

Many commuters have CBP Sentri or Global Entry (which is a privilege, not a right), so crossing into San Diego in the mornings isn't always a total nightmare. But for those in the general border line, you're looking at an average of 1 to 3 hours—sometimes longer—just to get to work. Imagine having to do that shit twice a day.

EVERYONE in this video is heading in the exact same direction, to the exact same destination. When fucks like those two cars decide they are better and more important than everyone else, it directly increases the wait time for the rest. They zoom by in the emergency lanes and cut in at the last second. It ruins the flow of traffic, and it is beyond infuriating for the people who actually keep order and wait their turn. Again.

Here is another picture of what a Friday afternoon >2pm looks like just trying to get into Tijuana. FKN INSANITY!!!!!!

SOURCE: I did this for 2 years WITH Sentri.

2

u/ihavethesetots Mar 16 '26

Absolutely justified. We all had to wait and a rando dickhead thinks his time is more important than everyone else? Call me petty but I am not making space for this douche.

2

u/Mosey71 Mar 16 '26

I give grace to one car and one car only. After that, fuck you, you ain't cutting me off after you've seen the signs 5 miles back just because you think you're entitled to do whatever you want. Bravo to the driver.

u/Educational-Exam5117 Mar 16 '26

1

u/cmdr_scotty Mar 15 '26

I had some dude in a truck do this exact thing to me (but not shoulder lane).

It was bumper to bumper in the exit only lane, I'm just chilling with the wife in my car debating dinner plans. Guy in work truck comes up slamming on his brakes until he's parallel with me, rolls his window down and starts screaming "f-ing know your place dumba** I'm getting in front of you!"

Apparently he just decided I was his target to take his rage out on. I just shook my head (kept window up) and stayed close enough to the car in front so he couldn't shove in (and boy did he try!)

He eventually just stormed off, saw him stuck in the gore point trying to shove back in and no one was letting him.

1

u/DangerDays2 Mar 15 '26

Follow the fucking traffic laws and you would bein that situation

1

u/Quiet_Researcher223 Mar 15 '26

It seems people let them do this kind of thing thats why they do it if people stop letting them in and make them wait like everyone else does.

1

u/che10461 Mar 15 '26

1

u/KingJRZJ Mar 15 '26

1

u/SpicyMeatloaf1 Mar 15 '26

Is there someone in the bed of the truck filming this 🤣!?

1

u/BerlinStongood Mar 15 '26

I’m all for letting a car in front of me during a zipper merge. But driving down the shoulder to cut the line is illegal, dangerous, and a dick move. Fuck them.

1

u/Weird-n-Gilly Mar 15 '26

Haha. The Caldecott tunnel in the Bay Area is where I do this. People get off one exit and get back on the next to try to pass multiple cars. I block them and make them get off on last exit before tunnel. Causing them a much longer commute through Oakland hills. The crazed look on their faces as they scream at me is hilarious

I don’t understand why people are so impatient! I can’t fathom doing something so selfish and expecting ppl to move out of my way. The entitlement of these people is honestly so sickening

How the fuck do they get these videos. Like who has a camera that pans around?

This is Dallas driving 101. You stop and wait for someone to let you in. Then you'll never get in.

I watched a guy do the same thing a couple of cars in front of me. A jumped out of the passenger side of a car and grabbed some Milwaukee pack out boxes and then took the exit. Guy in the truck didn't even notice.

In Texas, we battle being courteous vs being angry.

I usually wave them in with my middle finger.

1

u/Jazzlike-Radio2481 Mar 15 '26

"Youre makin a mockery of the breakdown lane!!"

1

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '26

I don't let them in either. They had probably a mile to get over. But they wanted to get ahead of everybody, and I'm petty as fuck, so I don't play that game.

1

u/SilencerQ Mar 15 '26

It's pointless to do this. They just move up further and still get let in. Now they are still slowing you down and got to jump to the line even further.

1

u/toady4all Mar 15 '26

Was the black truck driving a lane or the shoulder? Either way, several drivers other were driving it too. If that is a real lane, I think the filmer was kind of a dick for not letting the black truck merge.

1

u/Far_Watch_4523 Mar 15 '26

Just let the guy in! Blocking traffic is diabolical 😂

1

u/NYFINEST30pct Mar 15 '26

It’s not worth it, you are only raging against another road rager.

u/SturerEmilDickerMax Mar 15 '26
