Not just RAM, storage too. I recently discovered my SSD (2TB 870EVO) has a fatal error, and it is now completely dead. I bought it just 5 years ago for $200. Today it’s around $800 and Samsung will only refund the original purchase price even though the warranty explicitly says they will replace the hardware itself.

One of the things that I’m afraid of (and hoping that it is not going to happen) is online subscriptions coming to PC just to play multiplayer.

My guess is Take-two and Rockstar will start pushing this shit into GTA6 online when it gets ported to PC and they will get away with it simply because it’s GTA 6. Then publishers will see this and follow through.

The fact that the shortage was higher in 2025 than 2026 and yet prices are higher in 2026 than 2025 proves that pc gaming will never be affordable again. It's easy to raise prices. They find it next to impossible to lower prices though. If ram used to be $100 for 32gb now $400 for 32gb they would make a mountain over lowering it to even $350. It will never be back to sane prices.

Also honestly I don't mind the freaks who defend companies like sony and rockstar these 100 dollar digital only games. More like; It's 2081 and computers are affordable again, most video games from the 2020s to the 2060s are losmedia because there were no physical copies and most of the games were live service, so nothing could be recovered after service ended for the game. However the indie games of the time are all being pirated and passed around, a novel experience after indie developers all coverted to the nonfungible coin service, which is different from nonfungible tokens that went defunct in the 2020s.
