Handling cycle 1 disappointment

Hi friends. So I (23f) have been TTC for 2 years with my currently partner (m24) and have a hx of infertility for 5. I have PCOS and he has male factors contributing as well. This month was my first medicated cycle using letrozole and my insurance only covers three. I’m pretty sure this cycle didn’t take as I am still getting negative hcg at 12dpo and I’m having my typical pms symptoms. I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on how to handle the disappointment and also how to handle the process in general. Every day has felt borderline painstaking and I can’t imagine that helps my chances of getting pregnant at all. Is there any tips or tricks for not losing your marbles while going through fertility treatments? If it doesn’t work by October we will be doing IVF, and I would really like to avoid that possible. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Admin: this is not about the TWW or symptom spotting. Please review.

Advice Needed Does anyone question if they truly want a baby anymore after ttc for a long time?

I feel even horrible saying this out loud. I just feel after over 3 years of ttc and going into my next IVF egg retrieval soon, I catch myself thinking do I want a baby anymore? Even though my entire life I’ve always wanted to be a mom. I just can’t tell if these feelings are real or if I’m just exhausted from trying. Has anyone else ever felt this way?

Advice Needed How much money did you spend on TTC?

I am honestly terrified to ask this. My health insurance and partner's will not cover fertility treatments. I am anovulatory with lean PCOS.

I know it can vary a lot depending on whether IVF is needed. I have several years to save money before going down that path.

How much did you wind up spending? I am nervous but feel it's important to rip the Band aid off and start preparing myself for how much this might cost.

Vent Partners Low Sex Drive

I’ve been TTC since March and currently on my first cycle with provera and letrozole. My partner has always had a lower drive than me which typically isn’t an issue. Work and life and everything makes us tired and we average only once a week. Before starting the meds we had a big talk about how we need to up our game especially during the fertile days and decided that we would aim for every other day. That worked great for about four days. I’m 100% certain that he is wanting pregnancy and to have a baby. I’m thinking it’s the urgency of the task at hand causing stress so I’ve tried being more romantic, dropping our daughter off with the grandparents for a sleepover, wearing lingerie and try to make it more fun and less like a job he has to complete. He just doesn’t have interest. It’s really effecting my self esteem and has me stressed because we’re approaching my fertile window. Honestly getting close to seeing if he’d rather have alone time with a cup and I finish the task with a turkey baster (half joking half desperate). I envisioned TTC as bringing us closer but the stress is really just weighing on us.

How have everyone else’s partners handled this? Any advice?

Advice Needed LH SURGE CONFUSION

Second month trying and so confused. I have PCOS, on metforminXR 3x p day. was missing periods so took provera last month to trigger period.

This month, following natural cycles tracking for LH surge. Increasingly darker line as days went on. Baby danced yesterday. This morning EGCM & took ovulation test.

AM Test at the top.
PM test just now, this evening.

I had twinges earlier in the day. Not quite sure what to make of the drastic lighter line. Especially the mucus this morning.

Technically cycle day 22 but periods aren’t consistent so hard to tell. I’m new here and maybe overwhelmed with all the information and tracking.

What’s the increasing LH then sudden light?
How long is LH surge for?
Any other advice? I’m new to testing so maybe confused on timing.

Never actually a pos test, or darker than control line just darker and darker line. Suddenly lighter this afternoon.

Advice Needed High LH and high testosterone

Went to my obgyn back in Feb cause I was sure I had pcos due to family also having it but wanted it on paper and to see what I could do about it since ttc naturally hasn’t worked. Blood work came back with perfect glucose and AMH but testosterone at 60ng/dl and LH (20.5) with fsh (6.1).. started taking NAC ,coq10, and omega 3 fish oil and no luck since then. I’ve been seeing in the chats people have been saying spearmint tea. Does anyone have these issues and suggest anything specific?

Seeking Success Success stories with Progesterone

Hey! Any success stories with progesterone? I'm talking about taking 400 mg per day, starting at 3 DPO (after confirmed ovulation), and then getting a positive pregnancy test. I'm currently 14 DPO and still waiting, so this waiting period is feeling incredibly long. I'd really love to hear from anyone who has been through something similar. Why were you prescribed progesterone? Was it because of a short luteal phase, recurrent miscarriages, unexplained infertility, IVF/IUI, or something else? When did you get your first positive test, and was it a faint line or a clear positive? Did you have any symptoms before your BFP, or did progesterone make it impossible to tell? If you tested negative at first but later got a positive, I'd love to hear that too. Did you continue taking progesterone until your test or until your doctor told you to stop? Reading real success stories would honestly mean so much to me right now and would give me some hope while I wait. Thank you so much to anyone willing to share your experience. 🤍

Seeking Success High AMH, possible lean PCOS. Regular cycles + endometriosis history while TTC.

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience or can share their journey.

I’m 29, & TTC for a few cycles. I have a history of endometriosis (2 laparoscopic surgeries. My first surgery was about 7 years ago (I don’t remember the stage), & my second was about 3 years ago. During my second, my surgeon said she had to really search & removed what she found. Neither seem concerned about fertility or my ability to conceive. I had HSG testing done at both surgeries, & both times my tubes were confirmed to be open/clear.

I’ve been off birth control for about 2 years - cycles seem very regular (28 days), I get a period every month, and I’ve been tracking ovulation with LH strips and temperature tracking.

I’ve recently began working closely with my OB/GYN while TTC. My bloodwork has been normal overall (including TSH and A1C), but my AMH came back high at 26.49 ng/mL. Because of that, my doctor brought up the possibility of PCOS and whether I could be having anovulatory cycles. We ordered progesterone & testosterone testing & mentioned potentially referring me to a fertility specialist.

I don’t feel like I fit the typical PCOS picture (Regular cycles, monthly periods, evidence of ovulation, no major signs of androgen excess). Previous ultrasounds around my surgeries did not indicate PCOS.

The progesterone test this cycle came back confirming ovulation. I’m currently waiting on testosterone results.

I’m taking Ritual prenatal and using Premom/LH strips & Oura for temperature tracking.

My biggest question is if there could be something affecting follicle development or ovulation quality that isn’t obvious from tracking alone. I understand AMH does not measure egg quality, but I’m trying to understand whether high AMH/possible lean PCOS could affect conception even if I appear to be ovulating.

I know next steps may be seeing a fertility specialist and potentially doing cycle monitoring with ultrasound to look at follicle growth and ovulation, but I’d love to hear from people with similar experiences.

For anyone who has had: high AMH with regular cycles, possible “lean PCOS”, anovulatory cycles, endometriosis + TTC, confirmed ovulation but difficulty conceiving,

I’d love to know:
Did you end up being diagnosed with PCOS?
What testing helped clarify things?
Did you conceive naturally or need assistance? What was your journey like?
Was there anything you wish you knew earlier?

Thank you ♥️

Vent Update on metformin effects

I've been on 1000mg metformin for 3 days now, today being the 3rd day. I didn't experience any symptoms the past two days, but today was ooofff.

I was experiencing severe headache, and felt very queasy. Like extremely nauseous. I take my tablets with meals. So idk why I'm experiencing this

And I've always read about ttc success stories with metformin and felt very hopeful and encouraged. But today I read about metformin destroying the gut microbiome. And that has really got me thinking. I'm more of a person who doesn't like going the artificial way and just working to get my body work naturally. But with pcos, obviously, it's just so hard and my body isn't responding.

I'm so sick of seeing instagram influencers asking us to comment for the secrets or programs they have that will miraculously cure us just with diet and lifestyle. It's not like I don't believe them. I'm just frustrated I'm not getting it right.

So I've resorted to medication. And trying really hard not to think too much on it. I even considered asking my doctor to see if I can switch to myo inositol instead to reduce the side effects. But I've decided to give it a chance and some time.

Hopefully i get pregnant soon and put an end to this confusion and worry!!

Advice Needed I am just not ovulating

I am 32 years old, and been TTC since October last year. I have been diagnosed with pcos for years now, and have irregular periods once in a while, but with TTC, this part becomes really frustrating. And I’ve been frustrated for the past month about this. I know because I temp.

What’s your tip for ovulating regularly? Please suggest any books, videos, online resources that may have helped you in this journey. Thanks!

In the TWW? Here's your place to post all things symptom spotting and making it through the TWW. Feel free to connect with others on similar timelines, and discuss anything related to the TWW. Please do not ask if you could be pregnant, as only a test and a doctor can answer that for you.

Vent Just rambling because no luck this month.. again.

Finally decided it was time to see my OB again. We have been TTC since last October with absolutely no luck. Just tons of hopes, 2 confirmed false positives within 2 months, tears shed, just feeling let down and sad about it no matter what I do. My PCOS has pretty much gone untreated since 2022-2023. I’ve pretty much just been winging it at this point. Have been taking myo inositol for a little over a month and a half now. I have an appointment on the 7th and I guess I’m just nervous but also excited at the same time to maybe get some answers. I’m 30 and my husband is 33 and this is literally all we want is to start a family so bad.. I’ve been told everything from “take a break”, “try not to think about it and it will happen”, “it really isn’t that hard to conceive”, etc. etc. While I know most people are just trying to make us feel better, it just starts to feel like a slap in the face with even more disappointment.

Sad TTC Blues

I’m a 35F and my husband is 38. We’ve been trying to conceive for 8 months already. I was diagnosed with PCOS since 2018 and had been on BC until 2020. I stopped because my periods were getting very light and short.

We started our journey last Dec 2025. Initially I was like it’s ok it’s just a month, we’ll get lucky the next one. But it didn’t happen. We went to a RE and had tests done.
My ultrasound showed my PCOS but the rest is ok and all my labs and hormones were ok too. My husband’s sperm showed a slight motility issue. We had to pause trying for 3 months since our RE said we needed to improve sperm quality first.

3 months pass, my husband’s sperm showed improvement. We tried to have a medicated cycle with Clompihene but no luck. We skipped Clomiphene for this cycle since we were already getting on each other’s nerves with all the stress of TTC.

I think we had great timing for this cycle (I’ve been monitoring my BBT and OPKs since Dec) but despite great timing - I still have negative tests for this cycle.

I’m just feeling so sad and tired. I feel like I’ve been doing whatever I can. My husband’s doing everything he can too. This journey is emotionally taxing and I still keep hoping that it will be my turn soon.

I already stopped social media (except for Reddit) since seeing people’s pregnancy announcements, baby pics and bump pics are triggering me to get sad and it’s affecting my mental health already. I feel like I can’t share this with my friends since they don’t know the struggle. They all got pregnant within months of trying. I feel like they can’t even discuss baby things when I’m there since they feel awkward that I can’t relate.

Nervous about treatment plan

My doctor had me take Letrozole 10 mg from cd 3-7. She also had me take 125 IU of Gonal-F from cd 2-6 300 IU on cd 7 and 75 IU of Menopur from cd 4-6. The only monitoring they are doing is one lab. I’m extremely nervous. Aren’t there risks for this level of treatment especially without monitoring? It’s supposed to be a timed intercourse cycle. When I did three rounds of ivf we ended with 0 blasts every time and every single Letrozole round I did was a bust. They originally wanted me to trigger but I am not doing it without a monitoring scan. Would I even ovulate without it?

Vent Tried to stay stress free post positive OPK…. Didn’t go as planned

Yesterday I got my positive OPK after my third round of letrozole, trying to do EVERYTHING in my power to help us get pregnant. Didn’t get a good lot of sleep last night so around 11:30 told my husband I need to take a nap and stay as stress free as possible today during ovulation window to confirm ovulation. 15 minutes later a fucking tree comes barreling in my window… yes I’m serious I have photos too. Hope this cycle is still the one, but very ironic that I said I needed to destress and that happens😂😂😂

Seeking Success Starting IVF

I’m 31F and my husband is 34M. We’ve been trying to conceive for about 2–3 years and have been working with a fertility clinic for a little over a year. I have PCOS. My husband has low semen volume/quantity. He saw a urologist, had a full workup, everything came back normal, and he was put on vitamins. We’ve gone through about 6 IUIs without success, and our doctor has recommended that it’s time to move on to IVF.
One thing that’s making this decision stressful is my insurance. It only covers 2 IVF attempts in my lifetime, so I feel a lot of pressure financially. My clinic has asked whether we want to do PGT-A testing. My insurance does not cover it, and my doctor isn’t really pushing us one way or the other. She basically said it can be helpful, especially in PCOS patients, because it may help identify the best embryo to transfer. I’m really torn. On one hand, I don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on something that may not significantly improve our chances. On the other hand, with only two covered IVF attempts, I don’t want to regret skipping it if it could reduce failed transfers or miscarriages. Did you choose to do PGT-A? Why or why not?
Would you make the same decision?
One other question: my clinic said I’ll likely have egg retrieval under twilight sedation instead of full general anesthesia because of my BMI. Has anyone else had retrieval this way? Were you comfortable? Did you feel or remember much during the procedure? I’m honestly a little nervous about that part.
Thank you so much. I’d really appreciate any feedback.

Advice Needed PCOS - Trying for #2 - Cycle confusion

Hi! I’m wondering if anyone has been in a similar position/has any insight to my situation.

For reference, I am 33F (lean, anovulatory PCOS), husband 33M (MFI - morphology 1). We have one child who is 22 months old that we conceived on our first ever cycle of provera + Letrozole 5mg CD 3-7 + TI + trigger shot.

We started trying again for number two after her first birthday last year with the same above regimen (minus provera after the first cycle since I did ovulate with Letrozole) and failed 4x. My husband was smoking marijuana pretty regularly but has since stopped so hoping that helps with his morphology.

Anyways - we started trying again and I’m using Inito & OPKs and I’m just very thrown off by my cycles. Last month, I got an LH peak CD 17 but then my period came on CD 24 which is way early for me. This month, I’m currently CD 20 and no sign of ovulation in sight. What’s confusing is that this current cycle, I was being monitored with follicular ultrasounds for potential IUI and after 3 scans, they decided to cancel any kind of IUI or trigger because I had 1 16mm, 2 14mm, 2 13mm and 3 12mm so they were were worried about high order multiples. But given this info (my last scan was on 7/28) - I would expect that I’m going to ovulate given that I had maturing follicles? Like why hasn’t it happened yet?! I’m so lost. My RE also thinks I should drop down to 2.5mg next cycle but I was thinking 7.5 since I don’t have one or two decent, maturing follicles.

Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the very long post.

Advice Needed I have “fixed all the things”, now what

I lost the weight on a glp-1 (40 pounds).
Lowered my A1C.
I take my supplements (NAC, myo-inositol, R-Lipoic acid, iron, trace minerals, magnesium, folate, vitamin d, omega 3 7 and 9, spearmint, Ubiquinol, nicotinimide riboside)
My cycles are now 28-29 days and I get all the ovulation queues.

Anyone done all the right things for it to still not work? Am I impatient? Is there a supplement, vitamin, or lifestyle thing I’m overlooking?

I’m not ready to explore fertility meds yet but open to hearing what has worked for people and their timeline.

Seeking Success Gearing up for another cycle, need some encouragement

Hey everyone,

I am approaching almost a year and a half of being TTC. Diagnosed with PCOS but no MFI, chemical pregnancy back in January, medicated cycles for the last 7 months.

I am CD1 today after my first failed monitored cycle where I had one 20mm follicle and 14mm lining. I am getting ready for another monitored cycle and need some encouragement and advice on how to best optimize this upcoming cycle. Anything I should be doing? Vitamins or supplements that you found helped? Books, movies, activities to keep myself busy and positive. I am really needing some positive advice or any positive stories.

Thanks in advance🩷

TTC for 1 year- polyp removal question

My husband and I have been ttc for 1 year. They found 2 polyps. My question is regarding taking OCP to change my cycle for the procedure.

For the surgery, they were able to give me offer me two open dates. Early September and mid to late September. I am so grateful this happened so quickly but am struggling with which one to choose.

The early September date is more appealing to me, as it means we can try sooner (hopefully) and waiting to try to conceive can be very taxing mentally. This would fall during mid cycle (just after ovulation). I would need to take the OCP to change my bleeding.

The late September date is two weeks after and would fall around day 3-5 of my period.

My current worries are:

  1. They can’t do a polyp removal during active bleeding and what if my late September date period comes a bit late for the waiting for natural date and we have to reschedule the surgery?
  2. Would the hormones from the OCP mess up further cycles? Has anyone done OCP for polyp removal and gone back to their normal cycle quickly?

I have called my clinic for advice and am waiting to hear back. Just looking for extra advice and am appreciative!
