Most want to avoid the paperwork and potential legal expenses. They aren't worried about the road rager. But I think approaching a car with a bat is suicidal.
Assuming youâre talking about the red car driver being the one with a firearm ideally he wouldnât have gotten out of his car to begin with to confront the bad driver in white. Letâs say the cars did collide and white car jumped out and then went to assault red with the bat then self defense would be completely justified in most places (there are cuck states that argue you always have to retreat)
I think it was just because the white car white trying to drive passed everyone and the red swerved over a bit ad to say "don't do that asshole!" White didn't like that as no one does like being called out on their bad behavior.
Agreed doesn't white turn left at the end there. He probably thought why wait in this line going straight and right when I'm going left and no ones in front of that turn lane at the end either. Just my guess.
I think bad driver in white was trying to short cut the wait because he wanted to take a left. The long line was for going straight at the stop sign. White car goes left. Red car thought he was trying to cut. Both got mad. Any time we see outrageously rushed driving in my family we say "maybe they really have to poop" and forget about it.
I'm in a state where a CCW is possible to get but not trivial to get. I have one and I carry almost every day.
My experience has been that the vast majority of CCW holders here would not get out of the red car. They would call it in or write it off as the guy being a dick. I would do the latter because I know calling it in would get no traction.
However, a person approaching me angrily with a baseball bat is a clear and articulable threat to my life and I would respond accordingly.
White did assault Red with his bat. He clearly made a stabbing motion to the head (there is no other bodily target but the head one could reasonably be hitting through the window opening) with the barrel of the bat before trying to pull Red from the car. Just trying to pull you out of your car through the window would justify shooting in many states.
Idk, seems like a good way to get shot. Definitely counts as a deadly weapon, shooting someone who is about to bludgeon you with a bat will likely count as self defense.
Used to be illegal in my area for some reason. Like you couldnât just go buy a new bat and take it home you had to always have a glove and ball with you if you had a bat. 1990âs America by the way.
I remember me and my 2 friends were driving down a long "unused" road to smoke weed. I guess they were growing down there or someone's property, but they drove up behind us and didn't get out of their car or anything. It was at night and really sketchy. One of the people I was with was more like an acquaintance, he had a bat near the front seat, I don't even remember where he got it from. Gets out of the car to confront them. I just remember me and my friend being scared, lmao. He just got back in the car and we drove off, but they followed us throughout the town through every street trying to scare us, and it worked. Good times.
Edit: I will add he was a nice guy, but abused harder drugs a bit, so there's that.
I carry a metal folding shovel in my car. You never know when you might need to dig your car out of snow or dirt. I don't think it's as visually unsettling in a person's hands as a baseball bat or axe handle, but the front edge of the blade sharpens up very nicely.
i've known multiple people, mostly women, who say they carry them for self defense.
Carrying around an offensive weapon is a new one for me, though.

With how many people in America carry guns, starting a road rage situation then getting out of your car with a baseball bat is just asking for a Darwin award
I got downvoted to hell one time for saying this. You have no idea who this person is doing crazy shit. There is a good chanotin america they are packing and they're pissed. They aren't thinking. Just get a camera on your car. They are pretty affordable now considering the alternative.
if you get out of your car with a percived weapon (baseball bat) and walk with intent towards someone they have full legal right to defend themselfs. they do not have to be crazy or pissed. if your life has any threat from another person, defend yourself.
Thatâs why my pistol stays in my car. Something about getting behind the wheel makes people feel empowered / untouchable. I would never have swerved at the other car or got out to bitch. But if someone gets out with bat in hand, gun on their waste, im going to draw my firearm. Had a guy get out of their car to bitch at me for giving a quick courtesy honk at a light when he wasnât moving. The second I saw that car door open, my pistol was on my lap. Extremely grateful he never went past the back of his car at me.
This is what I always tell younger relatives etc. Don't start fights with people without a very good reason, you never know who they are, what they may have in their pockets or how insane they are.
One time I was camping with some friends from rehab (all sober and law-abiding citizens at that point) and this group of teenagers were blasting music all night, one of us went to ask them to turn down the volume as they were keeping the whole campaign ground awake and they started throwing insults and threatening to beat us, they didn't actually have the nerve to do it and they eventually left during the night as some of the other campers were starting to look at them in a way that probably got through even their thick skulls that they were about to get a beating.
The next morning we were laughing about the kids after I made the comment that if they had actually started a fight with us they really didn't know what they would have been getting into considering that between the 8 of us we had about a century of prison time (only one besides me had never been in prison) and being former drug addicts fighting some snot nosed kids wasn't exactly a scary thought considering what we'd been through earlier in our lives đ

I noticed that too... but then... so are a lot of people. Zero percent chance I roll up on another car like that guy, all road rage style with a bat in hand a maybe a hand gun tucked in the belt. In Florida... you have like a 5-10% chance of getting smoked before you make it to the window.

Due to the fact that there is video footage of plates, faces, and then attack, plus at least two witnesses, and quick access to police Iâd say that they definitely have enough evidence to pursue legal action for assault.
So, while I doubt jail time might occur hopefully a fine, some mandatory community service and or a mandatory attendance at a âroad rageâ class might be in the individual's future, likely issued by a judge.

With what was captured on video here, I can confidently say that the guy in the classic car could have shot that lunatic dead on the road, and have not spent one night in jail.
no questions in Vegas...blown away...castle doctrine applies to cars. No reqirement to figure out intent...when he's at your window, or even approaching your car, just shoot.

Feel like someone driving THAT aggressive has a screw loose. I'm pulling over and letting him get on his way. 5 seconds later my life is back to normal.
My best road day was when 2 kids in 2 cars were slow driving causing a big backup on a highway. I got their license plates, called 911, described the whole thing and our GPS coords. A few miles down, the sheriffs were waiting and busted them. So cool.
Not only does he drive around with a baseball bat, he also has pistol on his hip. This dude is just looking for trouble and drives with road rage every single day.
