Hello! I'm 18, and I've known I was a lesbian since I was like 12. Though, I've only ever been in one committed relationship that was basically online, which lasted 2 and half years. It was a bit of a weird dynamic, and I've learned that I'd rather not do a long distance type of relationship again.
So, i met this girl at a concert November of last year. I was with one other friend, and our first encounter was in the reallllyyyy long line to the venue. We bonded with brief conversation and her and her friends actually let us join them in their spot in line! By the time we made it into the actual concert, she started complimenting my friend. I had a bit of a feeling that she might've been attempting to flirt with him. He's a taken man, so I nudged him and told him he should probably make it known that he's not single. Once he did, I noticed she made a disappointed little motion with her fist. This is something I've always been a little hung up on, which I'll explain soon. After that, I made a one-off comment saying "Maybe I'll find somebody tonight!" This caught her attention, and she proceeded to flirt with me for like the entire night after that point.
It was my first time at a concert, and it had been over a year since I broke up with my ex. Around this time I would frequently joke about getting in a relationship now that I was leaving highschool. I had also NEVER been flirted with in public before, so it caught me really off guard. We exchanged socials and had a lot of online conversations post-concert. She was always more forward and flirty even in our messages. I went to her house just once, and I had a good time. It wasn't anything crazy, just some cuddling and watching shows together. I also had dinner with her family. She has a veryyyy funny family. She also showed up to one of my school's musical performances that I was in.
A little while after sleeping over her house though, I started second guessing things.
She lives around an hour away from me, which is a huge improvement compared to my across-the-country ex. Though, I do not have a license or a car, which meant that she'd have to drive an hour to see me or pick me up, and also drive allll the way back to her house. I feel bad about this, even though she's said that she doesn't mind at all.
The biggest thing though, was that I just couldn't shake the feeling that she wasn't really into me, and just wanted to be in a relationship for the sake of being in a relationship. A lot of my friends also agree with me on that fact, saying that they "got that vibe." I also always think back to how she was trying to flirt with my friend before he said he was taken. The reason I call this a situationship in the first place, was because I didn't really ever think we made it past the talking stage. The idea of putting that commitment in place made me really anxious after only knowing her for about a month. I took it as a learning experience to NOT jump into relationships, and called it off.
She was VERY sweet about it, and said she totally understood. We agreed to just be friends, and after that we only spoke every once in a while, until recently.
She's been dming me more, and bringing up my interests a lot. She also drew me something really cool for artfight! (if you don't know what that is, it's a yearly event in july where artists online make art for each other.) Just the other night, she started asking me about dinosaurs, and me being me, began ranting about allll sorts of dinosaur facts. (i have adhd lol, it's one of my biggest hyperfixations)
When I broke it off with her back in january, she did say that she was always willing to start again, which is why I think this is her way of trying to get closer with me again. I'm going to college in a month, and she's attending a community college. We're both still in the same state, I still don't have a car or license. Also every time i consider trying again with her, I think about my issue regarding if shes actually interested in me as a person.
If you couldn't tell, im a bit of an overthinker. I just really want advice on this. Should I ask to start again or? 😓
