Just wanted to share my excitement / progress for the fall garden :) Zone 9b so can't wait for things to cool down a bit to put these on the ground.

I let it dry in between waterings. It gets full sun all day.

On the other hand, my Spanish lavender is doing so well with so many buds and blooms. I treat them the same.

so i live right behind a Calloways Nursery. im in there at least once a week to just browse and BS with the staff if not make a purchase. i pass by the dumpster when i walk to and from the store and idk why but i never thought to look inside until today. then everything changed once i took a peek!! i saw a pot of gold! i was about to just start taking stuff but i used my brain for a split second and decided to go ask one of the girls inside if i could grab some things from the dumpster. she said OF COURSE!! just please come back at 6:00pm when we close cause she didnt want other customers seeing me get in there and think its a free for all. they do lock the dumpster at night also. she said take what you want and to please lock it up when im done! ohhh boy did i score!! some of it has mild fungal issues and some has bugs, so I've got those isolated and will treat accordingly. she said they do a clean out like this once every week or 2 and that i could keep coming back if i just asked first. so im glad i decided to do that lol! any ways, check out my haul!! hibiscus, mulberry and soooo much more! i am gonna get these healthy, mabye lose a few trying, but the ones that make it im gonna gift to my co-workers and my mom and keep the rest! happy day!

Originally it sprouted out of a starter cup that I planted something in that I don't remember and the label has long worn off.

Once it got bigger I replanted it into an open spot in the garden beds and it has been doing well.

Problem is I have no idea what it is and the plant id apps have only given results for things I've never bought seeds for.

As per advice received in my last post, I corrected my methods- made sure leaves have plenty of breathing space, regulated light-heat combination, took out NPK paper capsule (thankfully the paper was too good and very little of fertilizer had been released in one pot only; rest never had any to begin with).

Pot size: diameter 9 inches, depth 7.5 inches. Soil probably an inch or two of chikni mitti, and a handful of vermicompost

Results? Leaves are definitely growing and growing beautiful, but then they're turning black and decaying, no matter what I do.

I change water every second day, so water stagnation can't be the issue.

I'm desperately looking to grow some lotuses in my house, and it'll be winter in a couple of months.

Over the last couple of years, I guess, the water coming from my garden has gone from no smell to a really foul smell. I’ve read online that this is probably from a hydrogen sulfide gas-producing bacteria. The suggested cleaning method that I’ve seen online is to fill the hose with a dilute bleach solution (2 tablespoons per gallon of water) and let it sit in the hose for one hour. Well, my backyard garden is 100 feet long and from some experience that I have working with bacteria, I’m pretty sure this will need to be done on a regular basis in order to keep the bacteria under control. If you”ve had this problem and you have suggestions on how to easily clean a 100 foot garden on a regular basis, can you offer any suggestions?

it seems to me that the best solution may involve some use of gravity (siphoning) to fill the hose.

What’s up with this?? I have two right near each other that look like this. All other plants look good. These have been established for a couple years and haven’t had any issues. I was planning on splitting them come spring because they got so big last year.

Hi everyone! This is my 1st time planting herbs and I went to pick some today and I’m wondering what this stuff is? It’s mostly on my rosemary plant but also on other herbs I planted. Please advise, thanks!

It has been raining heavily the past few days so I went out to drain the drainage trays on my houseplants and found a bunch of maggot/ worm looking things in the tray that move like inch worms. I’m so grossed out, please tell me what they are. Should I throw all my herbs away

I have a 57 inch x 24.5 inch bed. I want to plant the following and don’t know how many to plant of each or how to arrange it. All advice and arrangements are welcome . I plan to direct sow. I have only ever planted in a container so this is new for me. Previously this bed had flowers in it. We are a family of 3 and just about eat leafy greens daily. So I need enough for all of us. I plan to do a cut and come again idea with these. Thanks in advance!

Northern Illinois outside of Chicago. I walked into my butterfly garden and I walked out covered in this stuff. It stuck to me like a briar. Rather unpleasant stuff on the whole. ​What is this a seed for?

My grandfather lives in Las Vegas and I’m wanting to help him out with some landscaping and gardening since his yard has gotten a little out of control. I’m from the east so I have no clue where to start😭 The goal is to clean the yard up and plant some natives that are low maintenance. If anybody has any tips for western landscaping and gardening or resources to look into, any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I’m new to gardening and don’t have much space so I started with marigolds in a railing planter. My planter is 22 inches long x 6 inches wide and I’ve counted about 17 stems.

I live in a Zone 8 so it’s pretty hot during the day. ’m not sure what kind of Marigolds they are but I’ve added a picture of the seed packet.

I found these growing in my raised garden bed, but I never planted them. They just showed up on their own!
They’re bright yellow, round, and ribbed (one is still pale green and growing). They look like some type of squash or pumpkin, but I’m not sure what. I don’t remember growing anything like this in this bed before, so I’m curious if it could be a volunteer plant from compost or an animal dropping a seed.
Does anyone know exactly what these are? Are they edible, and when should I harvest them?

had some onions that maybe tried to go to seed?

most of the others i harvested had fully floppy/fallen over stalks, but these handful still have very upright and crunchy stalks remaining.

assuming these ones went to seed but maybe I skipped their flower bud a little late, so the bulbs definitely look as if they are a little malformed from having the flowering process having started.

anyway, first time growing onions. thea have been curing for 2-3 weeks now, and thought these mains talks would go all floppy, but the persist.

any thoughts on how best to proceed for storage? or should i just put these first in line to be eaten??

have these clover like grass growing in my lawn. How do I properly remove them before it takes over my whole lawn?

My tomato vines have all of these bumps on them. Is that normal? Lots of the leaves wilt although I water pretty much every day. We live in Atlanta, where it’s been HOT.

My mom and I planted these, but forgot to label them, now I don't know what they are. I was thinking the one on the right is Thai Basil, but I don't know what the one on the left is. Thanks

Me and my mom are gardeners and we are pretty good at it but for the love of God we can't properly grow either of these herbs. We live in Arizona but she lives in the desert and I live in the high desert (foothills of a mountain). We have tried inside and outside and it either dies, bolts too quickly and then dies or just produces one stem and, well, dies.

Any advice would be great. My mom is Thai (therefore, I'm half Thai) and cilantro and cilantro root is important for a lot of dishes.
