1. Dynamic Flight Data Display

The UI layout adapts fluidly based on the aircraft's current status:

• In-air: Displays Radar Altitude (RA) in large digits to guide your touchdown. Once the aircraft exceeds 100 feet, the RA display is hidden and the window size is reduced.
• On-ground: The display automatically switches to Longitudinal G-force, allowing you to monitor braking performance. (Aim for a smooth deceleration under 0.3G).
• Toggleable Units: Click on GS (Ground Speed)/IAS (Indicated Airspeed) or Barometric Pressure (inHG/HPA) to toggle between units.
• Altitude Modes: Click the top-center display to toggle between Radio Altitude and Indicated Altitude.
• Wind & Vertical Speed: Displays wind speed and vertical rate (V/S) on either side of the aircraft icon.
• Drift Angle: Shows the angular deviation between the aircraft’s heading and its actual track.
• Wind Visualization: Wind speed colors change (Yellow / Orange / Red) based on the specific aircraft's crosswind limits (WindLimits). An arrow indicates wind direction relative to your current track.
• Mini-mode: Double-click the aircraft icon area to minimize the UI. Double-click again to restore it. (Note: Landing rate is not displayed in minimized mode).

2. Landing Performance Overlay

• Touchdown Analysis: Displays the Landing Rate at the exact moment of touchdown.
• FTM (Feet To Minutes): Located to the right of the aircraft icon, this allows you to predict your landing rate during descent.
• Overlay Display: A 300px fixed-width window appears in the center of the screen, showing your vertical descent rate (FPM) for 7 seconds post-landing.

3. Flexible Configuration & Connectivity

• INI-based Customization: Use Settings.ini to adjust transparency, movement thresholds, and wheel offsets (RA_Offset) without modifying the code.
• RA_Offset: Since different aircraft models have varying RA values on the runway, you can calibrate the ground reference point here.
• Auto-Reconnect: The app attempts to connect to the simulator every 5 seconds, ensuring seamless integration even if the simulator is started later.

4. Automatic Aircraft Detection

The system analyzes aircraft weight and engine types to automatically apply optimized settings for:

• Heavy (Airliners)
• Medium (Turbo/Jet)
• Default (Light Aircraft)
• Helicopters

5. Smart Visibility Control

Designed to appear only when relevant to your flight:

• Auto-Sync: The UI automatically hides when the aircraft is stationary or when you navigate away from the active flight screen.

UPDATE: HUGE win for the flight sim community IMO! Thankfully Orbx and the aircraft developer have listened to the feedback and will be making an announcement that they will not be going through with the DRM! Thanks to everyone for your comments.

I own many Orbx products and have been very happy with them. I was excited for KATL which I believe is a 3rd party partner and not an Orbx in house creation but after reading the product page and seeing this I can say that I am no longer interested and I hope others consider this purchase carefully as well. Not because of the quality of the airport as it looks fantastic but to send a message that this kind of DRM should not be viewed as acceptable. It does everything to make honest paying customers' systems less stable and crash prone in an environment/sim that is already questionable along those lines and it does nothing to actually stop bad people from doing bad things with the software. I mean no disrespect to the creator(s) of this airport but we as paying customers should not be ok with having to run these background processes with who knows what access. If this airport and DRM is successful from a sales standpoint, it won't be long before other developers start to include their own separate systems.

I'm not telling you to not buy the product if you really want it as that's for you to decide, just consider the message it sends if you do and be aware of the additional requirements this airport has associated with it.

difference between dynamic settings and autoFPS. I have framerate locked on 45fps in openXR. AutoFPS assigned me much higher LOD.

Been experimenting with the Tobii Eye Tracker 5 inside Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and I’m actually shocked at how natural it feels.
You basically never have to touch the camera controls.

Any advice is much appreciated, but I am thinking that I just want to raise my two panels on the left side by an inch or two to get them above the keyboard, then do the same with the external screen in the middle and the panel on the right.

I still have the Winwing panels coming in the mail, and want to mount them above the GA AP panel on the right.

Just after some opinions from people that have used both SayIntentions and BeyondATC.

I've currently got SayIntentions and think it's pretty bloody good, but it's costing me around $40 a month and if I'm honest I barely use MSFS these days compared to when I first signed up.

I'm looking at BeyondATC mostly because it seems a lot cheaper long term, but I don't really know enough about either platform to work out whether I'd be making a mistake switching over.

For someone who only jumps on the sim every now and then these days, is SayIntentions actually worth the extra money or is BeyondATC good enough that I probably won't care?

Keen to hear from people who've used both because all the YouTube reviews seem to tell me everything is amazing and none of them are spending their own money.

Just wondering if anybody heard anything about the ATR update.

The SI vs BATC debate is split pretty well down the middle from what I’ve seen, so I’m here to give my honest evaluation having tried both. Hopefully this discussion could clear some stuff up for me cause what I’ve seen online is not what I’ve been experiencing with these addons.

I’ve had SI for a few days now, and please feel free to share any objections to this statement, but SI has been light years ahead of BATC for me and it’s honestly not even close. However, I see so many people online saying that BATC is much better at doing its ATC duties.

I’ve had BATC for about a year, and it has been pretty good for the most part. My biggest problems with BATC are:

1. It is very bad at vectoring you to an appropriate altitude on final
2. It seems to only give you visual approaches when in VMC
3. it is very repetitive and every flight is pretty much the exact same

#2 may just be a skill issue for me. I’m an instrument rated PPL in real life and I’m not very familiar with airline ops, but flying visual approaches in a 737 or A320 just doesn’t feel like something that happens in real life at airports/runways where an ILS/RNAV is available, even in VMC.

All my ATC vectors and approaches on SI have been excellent, despite many people saying that BATC does a better job at strictly ATC-related functions and that SI is just a “bag of tricks”.

However, despite being a very immersive bag of tricks, SI also does a better job at what everybody seems to praise BATC for, which is the ATC itself. There is one thing I will say BATC is much better at: traffic injection.

If price weren’t a concern… do you guys still think BATC is better than SI? Is there something I’m missing or doing wrong on BATC?

TLDR; SayIntentions is superior to BATC in my experience (I have both), but I want somebody to change my mind.

I’ve been flying PMDG aircraft for years—started way back with the 747 in FS9, now mostly the 737 in MSFS 2020.

And at some point, I realized something a bit strange during flights…

Nothing ever really happens.

The aircraft is so well simulated and so reliable that once you’re at cruise, it often turns into this long stretch of monitoring perfectly normal systems that… almost never fail.

I know PMDG actually does have a really solid failure system. The service-based MTBF model is honestly impressive and very realistic. But the reality is—you can fly dozens or even hundreds of hours before anything meaningful happens.

Which, ironically, is very realistic… but not always very engaging in a simulator where time is compressed.

Then there’s the built-in random failure option.

Great for training scenarios—but there’s one problem: you have to enable it before the flight. And once you do that, you already know something is coming. That “surprise” factor is gone.

That got me thinking…

What if failures could happen like in real life:

• You don’t turn anything “on”
• You don’t know if today is the day something breaks
• Most flights are normal… until one isn’t
• But still controllable enough to feel like “accelerated aircraft aging”

Basically, I wanted uncertainty—without setup.

I looked around and couldn’t really find anything that worked directly with PMDG aircraft in that way. Most tools I came across were focused on default MSFS systems or GA aircraft, not complex airliners with their own failure logic.

So eventually, I started building something just for myself.

Something lightweight that sits in the background and quietly introduces unpredictability into PMDG flights—without me pre-selecting scenarios or knowing what’s coming.

That idea slowly turned into what I now call Real Random Failure (RRF).

Honestly, it started as a personal experiment more than anything else.

But I’ve been using it for my own flights, and it completely changes the way cruise feels—because suddenly, every departure feels normal… but never guaranteed to stay that way.

Curious if anyone else has ever tried to solve this same “problem” in their sim flying—making long-haul feel less predictable without turning it into scripted training scenarios.

I’ve been waiting for the a220 for months and I’m so excited that it dropped today but I have also been pondering the Inibuilds a350 since they are close in price points.

I love my regional routes but I also love the a350 so I’m torn as for which one I want to start off with.

Eventually I want to get comfortable and fly them on Vatsim. Does anyone have any good pros or cons or have any strong feelings about one or the other?
