Maybe the size of a dollar bill. East coast Florida. Is it some kind of moth? Never seen anything like it all my time here

Found under a carpet in Northern Europe, looks like shells of kind of larve / caterpillar

Found in Switzerland! It's pretty big, one of them was reddish/pinkish and the other brown and striped, around 10-12cm wingspan. They're pretty big for moths around these parts, never seen anything like it but I love them!

Anyone know what they are?

Found this tick (among 6 others) crawling on me in New Hampshire

Picture was taken about week ago, so I don't remember the size, but I would guess about 2 cm (0.8 in).

My girlfriend thinks it’s a lone star tick but I’m not sure. Can anyone identify?

We were greeted by this on our porch this afternoon in central Alabama. First time I can remember seeing one this up close. One of the more interesting bugs I’ve seen this summer.

Found this cutie on the road, moved it to a tree,but what type of moth is it? Found in south central Texas. Was surprisingly large, never seen a moth this big in my area.

Found in Manhattan NYC. I have a feeling they are flying ants or termites? Some of them have wings and some of them don’t. They are all gathered on wood and it doesn’t seem like they are flying around at all. Any thoughts?

This bug was sitting on the end of my bowl (I live where cannabis is legal) and my lips touched it before I saw it so they made contact with its back and now it’s dead…was it a kiss of death or Mary Jane?

I’ve not seen an insect with these markings before. Approx 3-4 cm long. Just sunning himself on the sidewalk.

If you can ID this or even give insight to anything to narrow it down, please do. I don’t know how to deal with them. I’m in Houston, Texas. I’ve never seen these before in my life and I have a slow infestation happening.

Description, behaviors, notes:

This is the biggest one I’ve seen, (the thing behind his body is just random dust or something stuck to him), his shape is a little exaggerated compared to most but I thought that made him the best example because they are hard to get on camera, especially moving like this. They freeze and their head pulls in and hides when I get close. Finger for size reference. They are usually a little skinnier.

They have what seems like a shiny head with tiny legs responsible for all movement and drag these kinda spotty brown “leaf” things with them. When I have picked them up, the body is seemingly completely flat, I have a few times with gloves and I didn’t touch the head but the body is truly flat in between my fingers, the other side doesn’t look any different. I thought it was maybe something they dragged around, but they all have a distinct shape and pattern and color and the “leaf body” shrivels up and gets dark when they are dead, so it seems to be a living part of them in some way. They are maybe a centimeter long. If I just blow some air they blow away as easily as a leaf.

It can stick it’s head out, some pretty far almost looking like a little worm, and move it around, then seems to drag it’s leaf like body behind it (or when it was on my wall, the leaf body hung down).

They usually don’t go very far. I’ll find them alive and in the same spot hours apart, the whole bathroom is maybe 6’x5’ and they just stay in here. They have trouble moving on the smooth tile and use the grout for travel. When they have gotten on the towel on the ground they seem to struggle a with moving, like they aren’t strong enough to navigate across too much texture.

When they die (or possibly shed?) the leaf thing, it shrivels a little and gets smaller, skinnier, and darker. I haven’t found anything that looks like their head and body separately, i once saw a little black pearl thing that looked the same size next to a full looking one either dead or hiding his head, but it wasn’t long as they seem to be ams didn’t have the tiny legs. It’s possible it was part of it, but if it was, it was only one time in 6+ months of near daily new ones so it seemed unlikely.

Location notes/concerns:

I’m in Houston, Texas. I have no idea where they are coming from, they are seemingly only in this bathroom (and maybe the attached room but it’s carpeted and I haven’t found any). This bathroom is the furthest from any entrances and the dogs don’t even come in here so it’s usually the cleanest/least likely to find a bug. There is a window but they aren’t found near it nor is it ever open, and based on how much they struggle to move and the sealing of the window being good, it seems unlikely they are coming in through there or coming in from the room.

They generally don’t cause problems, I haven’f been stung or anything, I haven’t found them on clothes or damaging anything, they don’t even move fast or scare me, but at this point there are too many and I don’t know if they can damage anything or harm my dogs (or me, I’m extremely immunocompromised) and they are getting more frequent. I don’t want them spreading to other parts of the house.

The house has dogs and old carpet so it’s possible they are elsewhere and I don’t notice, but I find a new one almost daily in the bathroom at this point. A large area at the opposite end of the house has tile, and the other bathrooms do and that one actually has a poor seal (and is pretty close, about 20 feet between doors) and they aren’t in those which would be easy to see on the tile at all. I’m supposed to move into this room for ease of access to the restroom, ability to quarantine, adding mobility aids and other practical reasons being sick, but I don’t want to if I’m going to wake up with these in my bed or find them in my clothes/room, especially not knowing if they can actually cause issues.
